… and what I wore to them!
We all have unrealistic crushes, but what would happen if you actually got to take your Dreamboy or Dreamgirl out on a date? Where would you go? And most importantly, what would you wear??? Here are my 3 imaginary dates, and how I imagined they would go…

Who knew Marilyn Manson was an opera fan? But he says he’s doing research for an upcoming film and would love for me to join him at Madame Butterfly this Saturday. I look into my closet and find a couture Alexander McQueen gown that simply oozes gothic elegance. I throw on a Marc Jacobs jacket for warmth, and accessorize with vintage pocket watch and a large opal ring. My eyeshadow is an Empress (bright metallic purple, just like my purse!) + Lime Criminal combo. Before leaving the house, I grab a crown – let them stare.
Marilyn picks me up in a white carriage he rents in Central Park. After the opera, he asks if I would like to stop by his apartment to try on some fancy lingerie he’d stolen from his ex-wife. I decline, respectfully.

My Dreamgirl Meg and I meet up on Lower East Side and grab a cupcake before ducking into the subway. Meg is dressed in her signature red & white, with a large tasseled hat on her head. I’m wearing a silk cylinder hat and a sequined mask with Circus Girl eyeshadow peaking through – just for fun! During the performance we poke each other’s feet with my cane and laugh like crazy – but everyone thinks we’re laughing at the clowns.
Afterwards, we stumble – remember, high heels! – to Central Park, holding hands and sharing a humongous lollipop the size of our heads. People stop and take cellphone pictures. Then we randomly run into Jack White at the hot dog stand, I immediately start thinking about dating him, too.

For the sake of the argument, let’s pretend Karl is not a flaming gay man pushing 100. Let’s pretend the bowed ponytail is just a reference to the 1800s fashion, and the fan is to alleviate the hot flashes he suddenly experiences upon seeing me.
Karl’s old-fashioned, hand-written invitation to join him for a weekend of horseback riding comes as a pleasant surprise. But what shall I wear to impress this oh-so-chic man? A gray chiffon dress, military style jacket and a top hat sound like a magnificent idea. My shimmering-gold eyeshadow, Nymph, sets off my classic red lips perfectly. Karl picks me up in a white limo which takes us to the heliport on 23rd Street. We take the helicopter to The Hamptons, where Karl says he owns a modest, 60 acre estate. Both of us delight in the fact that we’re wearing matching white gloves (Chanel) and black riding boots – not Chanel, but Karl hand-glued the logos anyway.
When we arrive on the trail, I want to change into my riding pants, but Karl insists that wouldn’t be très chic, so I ride sideways, like a real lady should.
Karl rides backwards, but with style.
Deerlings: what are your imaginary dates and outfits?
The KL fantasy was my absolute favorite. I can practically feel how eclectic he is (and how you view him) through it. Haha!
If I got three fantasy dates Hmmmm…
1) Jason Schwartzman and we would go to disneyworld.
2) Andy Warhol(since it’s a fantasy it doesn’t matter if he’s dead right?)and he would be my date for my birthday party…what a great present right?
3) Steve Buchemi(I can’t help it I developed a huge crush on him after seeing Ghost World). And well I’d want to go on an old fashioned camping trip with him.
What a fun idea!

This post is absolutely brilliant and my favorite so far! I especially love the passage of you and Meg White poking each others’ feet with your cane and laughing hysterically – only everyone thinks you’re laughing at the clowns. Trying on Deeta von Teese’s lingerie wouldn’t be such a bad idea. :)I could see Marilyn asking of such a favor! So which date was the most successful? I’d say the one w/ Meg! And if you throw Jack into the mix, the night could get even more fun!
My fantasy date would be with Lee Pace, and we would test his skills at making pies to see if he could really live up to the name ‘the pie maker’. And after the pie was baked and cool we would sit out side on a blanket and have a picnic in the back yard.
My date would have to be with rock God extraordinare James Hetfield (I’m sure his wife would let him out for one night). First I’d like to hit a casino in Vegas. I’d be wearing a red sequin cocktail frock, killer heels, chandelier diamond earrings & necklace, like I’d just stepped out of a Bond movie. I’d like him to be dressed in the stetson & satin cowboy shirt combo he wears in the ‘Mama Said’ video clip (yum, he looks scrummy as a cowboy). After we’ve cleaned up at the casino, I’d take him to a metal karaoke club (you did say fantasy right) & force him to serenade me with the entire metallica back catalogue, how fantastic would that be…then I’d have to begrudgingly hand him back to his fine wife & three beautiful kids! x
Fabulous!! I would definitely recommend to date Jack White as he would be my choice for imaginary date (see post here: http://stylesymmetry.com/?p=507). He would teach me some riffs on the guitar and we’d duet to ‘Fell in Love with a Girl’. I’d be fairly casual as I know he’s apprciate red skinny jeans, a white v-neck, layered floral scarves and gold flats.
oh my, i WANT that grey chord military jacket! too bad it’s all sold out : (
my imaginary date would be with the delightful jack kerouak. i would wear a lovely grey beatnick sweater dress and my vintage motorcycle jacket, a la this picture.

2)Dita Von Teese and a tour of the tents at new york fashion week and then of course a espresso nightcap
and finally…
3)Nick 13 from the band Tiger Army and a trip to a swing music club finished off with a few beers

Wow, that third outfit in particular is beautiful, I love the whole Steampunk aesthetic, and that fits it perfectly!
What is EVEN better than this brilliant post is that Alice Burdeu is wearing that Alexander McQueen dress and I LOVE HER.

Literally a dream date:
Once I had a dream that Paul McCartney took me to prom. I was wearing a purple, overly poofy prom dress (a la Sarah’s ballroom outfit from Labyrinth) and he was wearing a classic Beatle suit outfit (complete with adorble boots!).
For dinner he took me to Burger King!?! Oh well, at least he was a fab dancer.
This is so fun and creative!
My date would be with Simon Pegg. We would geek out and talk about zombies over a pint.

my first choice would be sid vicious 100%. and i would want to just walk around london buying ice cream and poking fun at the passerby.
second would be courtney love. definitely would want a night with her relaxing in a recording studio and practicing ballet together between takes!
third i’d have to say edie sedgwick. with her i think a nice quiet picnic on a desolate beach would be to die for!
i would have come up with outfits for each but then this post would have been far too long hehe.
Um, in my dream world Johnny Depp would pick me up on his motercyle from “Cry Baby Cry” for a hot night of rock and roll and dancing. I would wear a pinup inspired dress with a swingy skirt and sky high heels (because who doesn’t wear five inch heels when riding a motorcycle?). Then I’d change into something comfier at dawn and he’d take me to a great little cafe to drink hot tea and discuss literature and costumes. :)
Oh, and as a girl date I would take Marie Antoinette shopping in Paris and pick out all of the most outrageous confections available. We wouldn’t have to wait in line since she’s royalty, and I’m sure Karl Lagerfield would be dying to meet us! ;)
