It is so difficult to choose just one! I mostly like the 50s for the dresses and the 60s for all the clothing they had then. But I am also a fan of medieval clothing and Victorian dresses. It’s just the perfect styling for marriages. It would be much easier to choose fashion I don’t like (especially the 80s).
But for me it gets even more interesting, if you make your own style from all the clothing you like, whatever fashion era it comes from.
I am a fan of the clothing of the 70′s because it was the beginning of something much more individualized and laid back. Clothing wasn’t the focus of the nation, but it made it’s impact all the same.
Normally I’m totally an 80′s girl, but lately I’ve been into everything 50′s and 60′s all that space age fun. I’m in love with jumpsuits, and rayguns, and rocketships…
Victorian! Elegance, romance, parasols and awesome boots. Love love love.
I love the Rococo era the most. So much decadence, ruffles, pastels, huge skirts, Marie Antoinette hair!! What’s not to love??
I really loved the 20′s! Who can resist cloches and bobbed hair?
I think my favorite fashion era is the one we have right now.
When I think about it, what do I really like? The things from, say, the 60′s? Or modern twists on the 60′s? Victorian styles? Or mutations of Victorian styles, like “elegant gothic lolita?”
Modern styles get to pick from the best of all fashion eras of the past, and mix and match them to make new things. So, I like modern fashions the most.
Oooh, I have to say late fifties, early sixties. Mad Men, anyone? Oh, soooo lovely. Although, I have to say I like most everything pre-eighties, too… Basically, if it’s in a vintage store, I love it! :] (I even have the most gorgeous vintage prom dress for this year. I’m stoked to wear it.)
Definitely the 1930′s. I love those pin curls and finger waves :)
Most definetely 50′s! When women still looked like women, not twig-like cloth hangers like the ladies and chicks today.
Interesting yet usually very simple patterned fabrics, bright colours, enormous flowing hems on skirts and dresses, petticoats, high heels, bright red lipstick, awesome hairdoes… Beeeeautiful!
i love the eye makeup of the 30s-40s, the hair of the 60s-70s, but fashion wise? gotta say the 50s! high-waisted skirts at the perfect part of your natural waist(not under your boobs like alot of girls think is “high waisted” now) the gorgeous femininity of it all! ooo i just love it!
I absolutely adore the colorful and fun looking 80′s – where the females had gorgeus rainbow playsuits and absolutely stunning, wide pants. The hair was HUGE, wich is awsome, and the makeup SO BRIGHT ( it should be illegal? ;) ) What cant you love?! <3
It’s got to be the 50′s for me. Getting to wear dresses and skirts everyday without being told you’re overdressed.
I love the 30′s and 40′s but in a pinch I would pick 40′s. wasp waist, structures shoulders, elaborate hair do’s, seamed stockigs, fur collars, red lipstick. The best. Also the amazingly complex underwear and the idea of buying clothes they are built to last and can be fixed and reworked. This is an ideal that is totaly lost on this generation. Bring back long lasting fashion! xxx
Fifties. Retro babes are the best ;). No one can beat that classic look of hot red lips and winged out eyeliner. Not to mention the clothing. Stunning, classic, and sexy! You def. cannot go wrong.
I always hear people say how much they hate the ’90s, but that’s definitely my favorite era fashion-wise! I may be a little biased considering I grew up in the 90s, but I love the pinks and oranges, neon colors.. There were plenty of leftover trends from the 80s but it was the sheer *tackiness* of the 90s that made it special. Who can forget stirrup pants? Mine were pink spandex…I miss them so! And the best part of the 90s was of course.. LISA FRANK! Rainbow cute GLEE!
50′s! I LOOOOVE classic pin-up and the whole retro style!
while the 80′s were rad, the 40′s-50′s-early 60′s are my favorite era(s). i love pouffy twirly skirts and ankle-strap heels, bright red lips and audrey hepburn. especially in Funny Face. i’m currently obsessed with modcloth so this prize would be perrrfect :D
I would guess the 60s/70s, it was a time of change, good ol’ hippies :) The 90s were very comfortable for me, JNCOs all the way, haha.
I LOVE regency era dress! Especially as seen in pride and prejudice, BBC mini series from 1995. All the ladies look so elegant and adorable in those dresses! The fashion looked so much more innocent than it does now. But I especially love the clothes for the gentlemen from that time, they look so dapper!
I love the roaring 20s! Short dresses became popular, women began getting rid of constricting corsets, makeup began getting used more, and hair was cut shorter. It really shaped fashion of today. Also, I adore cloche hats and oxford shoes to no end!
My second favorite is the 60s/70s, mostly because of psychedelic colors.
My favorite era is today! Thanks to vintage and modern styles in addition to trailblazing TV shows such as Sex and the City, it’s virtually anything goes!
Have a gorgeous bra you want to show through a see-through shirt? Go for it! Wanna wear white after Labor Day? Do it! Thigh-high boots? Killer!
The lines have become extremely blurred and the result: absolute individualistic gorgeousness!
I myself would have to say the Japanese Gothic Lolita look of the 80′s. I love how the Japanese dress style accented with white fringe, and used heavy lipstick to make them look like baby dolls. Though, as for my favorite makeup for the Lolita, i would have to say that the Western Gothic Lolita counterparts of the style.
My other favorite style would have to be the ‘Sweet Lolita’ which is a sort of ‘new’ Victorian and Edwardian styles. They use a LOT of ribbons and bows to accent the ‘cute’ style, which is a HUGE plus for me. I love how it seems to take bright colors, as well as pastels, and make real life ‘raggedy ann’ dolls.
All-in-all, through the specifics, i would have to say that Edwardian and Victorian era’s were my favorite for fashion. I love the elegancy and art that went into creating the style.
Late 50s and early 60s. Everything is so clean and straightforward, while simultaneously being ultra feminine. There’s nothing like a 50s style full skirt to make you feel like wiggling your hips a little bit, or a pencil skirt to make you feel sexy without any effort at all.
plus look at the guys! yum. i’ll take my boyfriend in slacks, a button-down shirt, a cardigan and spats any day. so clean cut. yum!
i loved the 1940s fashion, the women dressed classy and sophisticated yet sexy at the same time.
the 1930′s…. i love the clothes, hair, makeup…. especially the red lips and how feminine the women looked… the men had amazing fashion during that time as well
The twenties…the vampy makeup, bobbed hair, flapper frocks, pearls, t-strap heels and spirit of the new woman never fail to inspire me. I love working elements of the era into my own look – they’ll never go out of style.
I’m madly in love with the 50s. As far as makeup, I wish that I could get away with a bold red lip in high school. And fashion… I adore high waisted skirts (like the one I’m wearing now :D) and was so excited to see them come back into style. I think that a cinched waist is so much more flattering. Girls today should take a hint and stop pulling their t-shirts down past their butt. :) The fashion in the 50s was glamorous but still comfortable. I also like parts of current fashion, but whoever decided that leggings were pants has some serious issues to work out…
Hmm so hard to choose has to be a toss up between georgian and the ’20s for me. xx
I love the clothing of the ancient egypt.
The dresses itselves where so elegant and simple, it was all about the super-dramatic make-up and accessoires with that braided and gold-decorated wigs, the huge necklaces, earrings, wristbands and rings.
They wore all that glitter and heavy make-up but looked sophisticated because of the simplicity of those white linen dresses.

thank you :)
I adore the era of baroque art, when everything was about being extravagant, gaudy, and wonderfully gorgeous! Brocade waist coats, poisonous laced white wigs, lush gowns of variegated fabrics, secret platform heels to heighten strong, seductive women; it was a time of beauty disguising the ugly truths of society and war! The music is great too…who wouldn’t want to listen to some Bach or Montiverdi as they enjoy the exquisite architecture of the era?
Victorian or the 1950s. The fifties for the beautiful Givenchy clothes ad the Victorian for the cameos and ruffles!
My favorite era is today. Because not only new styles are coming out but also many vintage styles are coming back. And i think that the new style and the vintage style do make a very cute match together. And many young people out there such as myself love the vintage style and new style.
Fashion is fascinating to see through the ages. They give a glimse of the humans that roamed the earth during that time. It’s beautiful to see how people dressed and how it evolved into what it is today. For me my style is very much a reflection of the 60′s combined with the 80′s. Before the hype about peace signs came I was wearing peace signs and the bright pinks and greens of the 60′s. I love wearing the bell style dresses with the bell sleeves. I stopped wearing my peace stuff for a while because it got annoying to see everyone wearing it. But now that its died down i’m falling in love all over again. From the 80′s I love the colors!! Neons! brightness everywhere! I get so happy when I see those colors. Thats why I love to wear them and why I love your makeup!! I’m very in love with great pink planet at the moment! makes me feel bright and sunny!
My favorite fashion era is the 70s for the crazy disco prints and colors!
The 1970′s, in Britain. Glam rock was quite simply the most fantastic mix of androgyny and science fiction. Also, the whole glam rock movement stood for philosophies people still use today, they were laid-back, but not hypocritical, like much of the hippie-era. The music was also fantastic, and it spawned some of the most amazing live performances ever, just look up T.Rex and Wizzard on YouTube.
Because I love fashion elements from ALL eras, I think I would have to choose today as my favorite fashion timeframe. You can get away with anything!! From Victorian details to futuristic silhouettes, anything and everything is in style AND you can rock any combination of styles as long as you have the confidence to carry it off!
My favorite would have to be the 1920′s. I love the flapper look, and and I love that the fashion of the 1920′s represents a liberation for women – no more corsets, shorter hemlines, shorter hair, and the rise of makeup! Yay =).
It’s a tie for me between the Victorian 1800s and the 50s. I personally love the fashion from both eras and like to incorporate little bits of them into my own style. I like fashion from practically anytime, but those two have to be my top two.
I love the Victorian era because I love the corset look and the big, beautiful dresses and accessories. Everything was so detailed and extravagant, at least for those who could afford it. The ’50s I love because it’s very simple but chic. Both eras have an aura of class to them, too.
I adore adore adore the Victorian era!!
Not only were corsets in full swing, but I am absolutely fascinated by the dictated “mourning clothing”. Morbid, I know. But the fact that custom dictated a certain type of dress (black of course) be worn for a certain period of time is just so interesting. And along with the clothes, came the mourning JEWELRY!! I wish I knew enough to expound on the topic of mourning jewelry, but I don’t. I only know what I’ve seen (both online and in antique stores), and it’s both gorgeous and macabre. The latter because you know why/when it was worn.
My favorite is the 80s, hands down ;)
Who could say no to neon colors, lace gloves, glitter, tights, and chunky jewelry? Not me!
I love the 90′S! And apparently, I am the only one. Everything about the 90′s has just been really appealing to me lately. yeah alot of the clothes were tacky and just not cute, but the attitude of that whole generation rocked. It was about angst, great music, and self expression. Most of my favorite songs and movies are from the 90′s! We had Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain, Shirley Manson and Cher from Clueless. Best everythings hands down.
Easily the 60′s! There is so much inspiration in that decade that style opportunities are rampant! There’s the Twiggy Mod, the Edie Sedgwick makeup, the Jimi Hendrix scarves and jeans, the Mick Jagger androgyny, the Anna Karina girly frocks and je ne sais quoi hair, the Jackie O suits in candy pink and blue—So much to be absolutely thrilled by! I feel it’s when people really started to experiment with color and makeup in a brand new, fresh way that we still mimic today!
This is hard to choose because for me, even though I love the 40′s and 50′s, I know that most of the clothes I love and styles that I love weren’t worn by the average woman, so I can’t in good conscious choose those eras.
Honestly though, I would have to say the 2000′s (even though there’s a little bit of time left…) The reason for my choice is, that there are so many more innovative ways to express yourself through clothes now than there ever were. I love to be inspired by previous eras, but as far as living in one for the clothing, it would be now. The fact that no one looks the same, and designer fashions are more available and there is so much more of a global awareness of fashion is amazing.
Certainly would be right now for sure.
Victorian Era. Why don’t we all wear corsets and tophats nowadays? Although, it’s a bit more healthy now. But I also adore the 50s, the pin-up girls of that age… Stunning!
Haha, I feel like I’m playing off the modcloth theme, but my favourite era was probably the 60s, and, uh, mod style.
The simplicity and elegance is very alluring, but it was also pushing boundaries (hello pantsuit and miniskirts!). Also, a lot of the clothing were geometrically patterned or designed, which is vair cool.
I have two favorites. First, I would have to go with the Roaring 20′s! I love that women were coming into their own…doing things they hadn’t done before. They cut their hair, wore provocative clothing, smoked and drank and all in public and not in a brothel! My Great-Grandmother was a flapper and she even had tattoos on her legs! Quite daring for back then…my Great-Grandfather owned a speak-easy and was a bootlegger! So much family history for that time and the fashion was to die for! In fact, I just started collecting hats from the era!
Second, I would have to say the late 70′s to early 80′s punk rock baby! Pink Hair, ripped tights and fishnets, the beginning of goth and new wave. What fun!
My style is a combination of the two! 20′s and 70′s… weird I guess :)
I would have to say the 1920s were my favourite fashion era! Everything was so glamorous and so very bold for its time! The hats and the hair and the fabrics were amazing but most importantly: I loooove the shoes!
I also really love the silhouette of the 1950s. Women were so pretty with their tiny waists and big busts and hips. To me that is the way a woman should look! Not like how they look now: little sticks with no womanly assets!
I love the 80′s with all the bright colors and off the shoulder shirts!
My favorite era by far is the 1920s. They were so classy, glamorous and sexy. I also think that the 20s had a sort of macabre gothy feel, with the culture of flappers. I just love the bow lips, short hairstyles and short, boxy dresses. With lots of beads, feathers and fur too~
