Alice In Wonderland 2010
Category: Inspiration
Anyone else excited for Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland??
I used to be obsessed with American McGee’s Alice (the gothic video game) and hope that Burton’s version resembles it at least a little bit… Oh wait, wasn’t Marilyn Manson’s Phantasmagoria supposed to do that? ;) However it may be, I can’t wait till next March!

Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter

Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen

Anne Hathaway as The White Queen

Mia Wasikowska as Alice

Matt Lucas as Tweedledee/Tweedledum

When this is out, let’s all go to a theater together, dressed up to the teeth! Ok??

I can’t wait for this movie, although when some of the test shots first came out they were quite dingy, almost rust-coloured… which I think I almost prefer to the shiny colourful publicity shots being released now.
It has Stephen Fry in it though, I am happy. xx

The Alice in Wonderland story is just stunning. The actual story is very twisted and quit strange so I am sure Tim Burton well add even more amazing visual aspects to this already amazing classic.

I’ve known about this since it was in the whispers and rumors stage. Thank you, Wikipedia. When I heard it was actually happening, I was ecstatic. It looks absolutely breathtaking. Makes me want to play the game. I never played it, but I hear they’re doing a remake or something for the movie.
And is it just me, or are Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton like moviemaking soulmates? They’re always working together.

ach. yes. johnny depp, number one, is my love of loves. tim burton, number two has yet to create anything i don’t love.
i think i would either dress up as a sexy female mad hatter (love all the layers of colour and texture!!) or a glittery, lace coloured Alice with fantastic shoes and stockings!

By the way, did you see Petro Zillia’s Spring 2006 collection? Part of it was Alice in Wonderland themed.
Here is an article on it:
http://www.lasplash.com/publish/cat_index_Style_and_Fashion/Petro_Zillia_Spring_2006_Alice_in_Couture-Land.php
You can see more pictures from the show by going to petrozillia.com and clicking “collections” and then “spring summer 2006″.
I wish the pictures on the two sites were of higher quality. I really love Petro Zillia’s take on the characters’ appearances, especially Alice. I’d definitely wear those clothes!

God, the characters are astounding! The only one I feel perhaps doesn’t quite match the overall aesthetic is the White Queen, but that’s just from these pictures, so who knows? Truly can’t wait. I rarely go to see movies but I plan to immerse myself in this crazy world for a few hours with full enthusiasm!!

Supposedly a film adaptation of American Mcgee’s Alice is coming soon as well, with Sarah Michaelle Geller playing the lead. That’s 3 “Alice” movies due for 2010.
[Reply]
July 10th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
I think there is something exquisitely unique about the Alice story. It’s almost innocent and slightly morbid at the same time, I love it. I’ve been very interested in Lewis Carrol as well as the American McGee adaption and Phantasmagoria for awhile now, but I had no idea that Tim Burton was working on an adaption until a few weeks ago when the official pictures were released. Unfortunately it looks like the film adaptation of American McGee’s Alice is no more (although I must get my hands on the copy of the game!) and Phantasmagoria has been so constantly pushed back that who even knows if its still going ahead?
I anticipate this movie to be quite amazing though. The whole idea behind it is amazing.

I am soooo excited for this movie!!! And I love American McGee’s Alice too, even though it’s probably the most horribly designed games I’ve ever played. It’s extremely frustrating; I haven’t even finished it yet, lol! I am excited for that movie too, although I don’t know about Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice. Isn’t she a bit too old? :/

I have been waiting for this since the day it was announced! Amongst my friends and collegues, I am referred to as “that girl who loves Alice in Wonderland” (amongst other things). I am definitely preparing a lovely Victorian dress for the opening night… with a touch of whimsy a la clock-hand earrings. ;)
[Reply]
July 11th, 2009 at 4:11 am
ugh, i honestly dont think it looks good! i think its too bright and way clownish. i think alice should be properly victorian in a very creepy manner, i want it to be dark and adult.
btw alice mcgees movie actually is getting turned into a movie that i believe is coming out in 2010, last i heard sarah michelle gellar is getting the role of alice [SQUEE]
im more excited for that and phantasmagoria though…

I’s really looking forward to this, Burton is my god. Though a version of American McGee’s Alice actually happening would be great, different script have been written but nothing else, though they have said about bringing the game out as versions of xbox (which would make me very happy!) and Playstation. Maybe that would renew interest?
I’m desiging costume for a production of Alice at the moment for the theatre company my friends have set up, we’re thinking along the lines of McGee’s. Ever seen this mans work? We’re using him as an inspiration.

Anyone who likes a twisted slant on Alice and just amazing sculptures and illustrations check this man out!

July 11th, 2009 at 10:33 am
jeremy, sadly last I heard there’s just been script written for McGee’s but never an actual progress past that. Sarah was linked to it but that’s been squashed now. No director has been attached, it was just a hope that it would make it in 2010. Though I would love to be wrong and there actually be a version of it coming out.

and Lily Cole as Alice? oh yes please! I can totally see her it that role!

I’m sitting on the fence for this one…
I am a huge American Mcgee fan and had been following the progress on his movie version of Alice. All information says that it’s still going to happen but,I think that Tim Burton’s will knock it out of the way. This is just sad, because I know that Mr. Burton is going to do his version really really well and I maybe won’t be able to enjoy it as much becuase of the other Alice..
In all honesty, I’ll probably get really gleeful when it comes out and will have to trump HBC’s Red Queen costume.. XoXo

Ok, so I’m terribly, terribly excited to see this movie. I love Alice in Wonderland, and I”m excited to see Tim Burton use elements from “Through the Looking Glass” in this movie.
Neco z Alenky aka English Title Alice
For those who have read the books, or have yet to find a very trippy version of Alice in Wonderland, well here’s a movie for you to tide you over till Tim Burton’s. FYI if you’re creeped out by creepy Stop Motion Animation DO NOT WATCH THIS!
Its by a Czech Republic Director, and probably the most accurate movie to the original book Alice in Wonderland. For those who don’t know, this is a very independent film and is extremely intersting. If you have children, please don’t let them watch…its categorized under horror.

When will it end Tim Burton… just when it seems that only remakes are coming out, you’d think he would be the one to make something original. But no, he does probably the most remade movie ever.
does it bother anyone else that this seems like its going to be another wonderland/looking glass mashup? With no one acknowledging that its a mashup?

Ok, ‘now’ you’ve got me excited about this movie!:D When I first heard that Johnny Depp was going to be the Mad Hatter, I wasn’t sure what to think, but he looks quite ‘off his rocker’ in that photo. Knowing Johnny Depps long list of performances, I think he could pull it off very well.:)
Not sure about Helena as the Red Queen though…I always imagined her (the Red Queen) as a meatier woman. But, Helena is a very good actress, I’m sure she’ll delight us all.:D
While I do now live in NY, I’m too far from NYC to just run out for a movie, unfortunately. But I would SOO love to dress up ‘in style’ for the premier of this movie next year. I’m greatly inspired by the Mad Hatter’s top hat.
-Though, with my long blond hair and light skin, I could easily go as Alice.
This is great!!:D
