Apple Picking Expedition
Category: Daily Outfit, Expeditions
Apple & pumpkin picking in the fall is a popular activity with New Yorkers - a rare chance to get out of the city and connect with the nature. For a workaholic like me, it also means an opportunity to shoot some beautiful pictures. :) After researching various apple picking sights, I decided on Battleview Orchard in Freehold, NJ - about an hour drive from Brooklyn. This place offers many different types of apples, as well as a pumpkin patch to the public. You go out with a red bucket and a paper bag, pick whatever you like and pay for it when you’re done. Plus - the real reason I picked this place! - there is a bakery on premises that serves cinnamon apple donuts and hot cider! Yum!

I LOVE this outfit, probably one of my favorites.. being the goth I am at heart. My favorite activities are driving in the crisp fall air listening to Type O, using holiday scented shower and bath products, taking pictures of the changing foliage, buying warm cuddly soft clothes, and falling asleep to the sound of the heater blowing. Oh and having hot Chai drinks!

All of you (including the location) look delicious. Now I want donuts too!
Darn you!

I live in Miami, so I’ve never experienced an actuall Autumn. I really want to go up to New York r so to see snow and leaves falling…-sigh-
I’ve never seen snow before.

Yup, now I really do want a cape. Been pondering making one for a while and that has settled it for me.
I like to run through big piles of leaves. There’s always a massive one at the top of my road. Though sometimes people sweep it into the road they always get blown back into a big big big pile for me to walk through again. I get very sad when they’re all blown away.

Those apple cinnamon doughnuts sound divine! That is indeed a lovely outfit, red and black has always been one of my favourite colour combinations, possibly a throwback to my teenage goth years!

I would have to say that my favorite winter activities (I live in Louisiana, so we have no fall) are curling up in front of a fire with my fiancee. And partaking in tasty warm soups. Mmmm yum!

fantastic photos! the outfit is amazing- i’m especially fond of the cape and gloves. nice job.
i grew up about an hour upstate from the city, and we ALWAYS went apple picking when i was little because it was such a big thing there, and there were a lot of apple orchards. so definitely apple picking is my favorite fall-time activity, however i haven’t gone in an absurd amount of time. i always try to make it home at least once during the fall, because it’s definitely not the same here in nyc. seeing the ground covered in thick layers of leaves never gets old.

this pictures are lovely!
I especially like the red gloves.
every autumn I look forward to buying pumpkin spice coffee and fresh apple cider from the local farms in Athens.

You all look so beautiful. Guest appearances from Mom and the photographer, how lovely! It gave the shoot such a family feel to see you all.
Here in London we really know when it’s Autumn because the weather shifts from cold to abso-bloody-lutely freezing. Oddly, I love it because it means I get to wear one of my many, many hat, glove and scarf combinations and big wooly cardigans.
My favourite Autumn activity is something I haven’t done for a long time and that’s collecting chestnuts for roasting with my Grandma. We used to go and stay with her during our October break and take long walks through the woods.
Being stuck in the city though, the best thing about Autumn is when Starbucks release their red-cupped drinks. Mmmm!

You look gorgeous, I love your gloves! And your mom looks too cute! I want to go apple picking. Too bad it’s practically winter. Ugh.. I hate too-cold weather. :(
But your pictures are so warming. :)

This shoot is AMAZING! I live in NC, but I visit PA on holidays to see my dad; The north has the most amazing autumn! All of the leafs fall in different colors, and the winds in the mountains is so strong that the leafs actually travel in them. My favorite part of autumn is the soup! It’s an excuse to eat nothing but nice, warm, savory soup all day.

Hi hun! I just found your blog, allthough I’ve been inspired by the looks you posted on limecrime.net for years now :) I’m def. adding you to my blog subscription list! I was just wondering, is it OK if I link your blog from a blog entry at my swedish beauty blog, and borrow some pictures from your site if I give proper credit at the end of the entry?

for some reason the apple picrures with the cape give me this little red riding hood feeling :) especially the gorgeous curks and red red lips!
November 17th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
yea, you sooo need to make some sort of sample sizes/set. I’d love to be able to get all the colors you used for the gothic makeup tutorial, maybe with another color like a red or blue. Or maybe I’ll just wait a month or two to buy them all :P

ooo how pretty!
i love apple picking the best.
i’m so attracted to the smell.
i don’t even mind the end-of-season rotten apple smell.

My, my, looks like the whole family has an amazing sense of style and natural, yet colorful beauty! (p.s. I love your mom’s boots ;) ) Gorgeous photos and modeling, as usual… ^^
Up here, it’s quickly become winter. However, when fall *was* here, I just loved taking in the beautiful fall colors here on my lovely college campus… it’s so pretty here! ^^

Love your outfit, it’s adorable!
Autumn is my favorite season, so everything seems nicer because it’s autumn lol. One Autumn activity I’ve always loved going for walks while its chilly but the sun is out. There’s something invigorating about it.

i’ve never actually seen an apple tree… :[
those look deliciously juicy!
November 18th, 2008 at 3:44 am
lol; well.. if we’re going to go with the “we have no winter..” I think I might rank pretty high… I live in Texas where you’re in short sleeves till October-Nov… so I’ll have to think back to when I was in Korea… I loved picking chestnuts with my parents… I love roasted chestnuts… Mmm… it’s quite fun to peel the spikey outer layer to get to the chestnuts.. it’s in a mountain so the red, yellow leaves were so pretty too :D

The photographer is pretty ;) As are you! I’m just a touch jealous of your legs… allowing you to wear such fabulous shorts/tights… you look incredible. I always love your photos posts… incredible settings, unique outfits, gorgeous makeup… keep it coming! xx

My autumn activity is taking my dogs out for lots of walks, and just enjoying being outside and looking at the yellow leaves (we just get yellow leaves in calgary, there is a scattering of red and orange, but the main color is yellow) and the blue blue sky.
The photos are beautiful!
November 18th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Beautiful in double plaid.
November 19th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Your mum is super sylish - those shoes!
I love collecting a pile of leaves that have fallen from the trees and jumping in them. The crispier the leaves the better :)

Hey there I’m in love with your outfit and the bunch of cool pictures…….you know it is so weird because I’ve always had an atraction (if not obsession to schoolgirl inspired chlothing) plus the fact that apples follow me everywhere…..
My favourite activity in fall is propably having a walk around town because it is not warmn anymore and the sun sets earlier allowing me to used my beloved “strange” clothes….
November 21st, 2008 at 1:11 pm
