Any fans of the graffiti artist Fafi in here? Yes??? This one’s for you! :)

Every girl wants to be a Fafinette, at least once in a lifetime – the heart-cheeked, stripe-clad heroine of Fafi’s drawings. I got to play dress-up and transform myself into the character with the help of a wig, some jewelry and, of course, bright makeup!

![]()
INGREDIENTS
- Eyeshadows: Shoe Addict, Mermaid
- Eyes: Eyeshadow Primer, mascara, false lashes, liquid liner, white pencil
- Lips: hot pink lipstick & lip liner
- Face: Foundation Primer, concealer, foundation
- Cheeks: hot pink lipstick, dark pink (or berry) lip liner
Eyes
Because we’re going to be using such bright eyeshadow, it makes sense to do the eyes first and skin later. Curl lashes and apply mascara to top lashes only, skipping the bottom. Let dry and curl again to open up the eyes. Dab on some Eyeshadow Primer and do a wash of Mermaid all over the top lid, blending out and up towards the brow. With a medium-sized brush, apply Shoe Addict over Mermaid, packing the color tightly for that super-bright effect.
Next step requires a little bit of skill because in involves free-handing a long, fluid line. Fafi’s character has big, doe-y eyes with lots of lash on top and bottom and we’re going to fake some of them with eyeliner. Apply a dab of Foundation Primer under the eyes (this will prevent eyeliner from running) and finish with foundation/concealer. Set with loose power (try Pixie Dust). Pick up the liquid liner and draw a long, winged line alongside top lashes, dropping it slightly below the tear duct. Draw another line underneath lower lashes, connecting the outer corners but leaving the inner open. Free-hand the bottom lashes. If you mess up, correct with q-tips (don’t forget to re-apply foundation in correction spots).
Pick up a small amount of Mermaid with a small brush and fill in the space between two lines around the tear duct. You may also do the waterline in white pencil (optional). Stick on the false lashes (top only).

Face + cheeks
Moisturize skin with lotion. Apply Foundation Primer and foundation. Fix any spots with concealer, fill in eyebrows. Set face with loose powder.
Unless you do face-painting every day, drawing a heart on your own cheek can be a bit tricky. I recommend doing it in front of a 3-piece vanity mirror so you can reference your work from different angles! Start out by drawing an outline with a dark-pink lip pencil. You can always correct it as you go along, just be sure to cover up the ‘erased’ parts with foundation. Once you’ve achieved the desired shape, fill in with bright pink lipstick using a lip brush for precision. Blot lightly with tissue when you’re done.
Lips
Fafinettes have an unusually thick pout that will make Angelina Jolie blush. Seriously, I don’t think anyone’s lips are that plump. ;) But, you can sort of fake it by doing the lip liner outside your natural lip. Fill in with pink lipstick (I mixed my own color, which will be available in my line soon!) and – voila! You’re a Fafinette! Check out more Fafi on MySpace.

I love it! Everything about this look screams fafinette unlike the M.A.C./Fafi line that came out last year. Fafi should have gone to you to collaborate with. Seriously.

I love Fafi but I agree Miss Van is a little more raw and sexual around the edges, here is my favorite Miss Van graffiti mural in Barcelona

LOVE IT!
And you look great with darker brown/red hair.
And I also want to know what kind of foundation you wear. I need to buy a new kind (was using mineral powder foundation but i am unhappy with all the mica free ones so I need to go back to liquid or cream) and am unsure what to choose and you are about the same coloring as I.

Hey Doe, did you draw on your bottom lashes slightly outside your natural lashline or not? Because I’m wondering if that can make your eyes look even *larger*. And if some of us aren’t that handy with liquid liner, would sticking on false lashes on the bottom work too?
you look AMAZING. I love the eyes!

This look is gorgeous. I’ve never heard of Fafi before…
Might adapt this look for Valentines Day (I’m making a dress in pinks/whites/reds, with a skirt that looks like giant petals– think Madgie in the movie Fern Gully, one of my faves– and was at a loss for a makeup look to accompany it.)
Also bought more DELICIOUS Limecrime and am praying it gets here before Valentines Day!!

Hey there!
I’ve followed you for a while, first let me tell you how absolutely cute and adorable you are! I whish I had the patience to practice with make-up, but I’m so terrible!
I don’t know this artist, but when I saw the drawings it kinda reminded me of Miss Van, she’s from France but I think she lives in Barcelona now, where I discovered her graffiti’s in some walls of the city. Check her out, you might like her work.

I’m totally being a fafinette for halloween! Def waiting to snag the rocket orange lipstick from the new line in october for my color palette.
Anyone know how well lipstick sticks to the cheeks during dancing+motion or if a theater paint (ie; kryolan) would be a better bet?

Hey Doe, I know this is a really old post, but this tutorial was the first thing I ever read on your blog, and after months of speculation I decided to be a Fafinette for Halloween last night… and pulled off this look first try!
Besides feeling very accomplished, the makeup was a huge hit. Thanks so much for what you do.
