Blogging

We're 2 years old!

Every August we celebrate a gleeful occasion: the birth of our community. Since 2008, Doe Deere Blogazine has been a place of positivity, inspiration, and encouragement to young women everywhere. We are a community of girls of all ages & walks of life, all uniquely different but who have several core values in common. We incorporate self-expression into our daily lives and have a taste for all things edgy & slightly odd. We find inner strength through outer beauty by making a statement to the world with our clothes and makeup. We each possess a special gift that we’re eager to share with the universe.

We are not perfect. Sometimes we feel angry, insecure, and make mistakes, but always find a way in the end. We are tough but girly, considerate but driven, love ourselves but care about each other too, and see a silver lining on even the darkest of clouds. I am proud to be a part of a community that doesn’t judge, supports each other, and is filled with forward-thinking women. If you ever wondered where all the talented, creative girls hang out, this would be the place. ;)

Doe Deere Blogazine is designed with you in mind. Unlike other blogs, it’s not a one-way narrative but, instead, an ongoing discussion where readers’ comments are as valuable and valued as the posts of the author. Five thousand deerlings log on every day to read, learn, discuss and pass the glee on to others.

In recognition of the fact that the blog is a collection of its readers as much as it is its author, I invite you to participate in a special Anniversary Box of Delights!

Doe Deere’s Box of Delights: Anniversary Edition

What is a Box of Delights?
It’s a mystery box filled with hand-picked goodies I put together especially for the winner. Lots of love goes into these, but this time I’m making it extra-special! The only way to find out what’s in a box is to win it.

How to enter:
Tell us in comments: what makes you, YOU?

You have until August 19th to submit your answers. Winner will be picked at random & contacted by email. Good luck!!!

Our winner is Abby (comment #39)!

Sorry this week was kinda boring – my wrist is in a brace again from mousing too much. Now that the website is up and running, I can get back to my ‘normal’ self again – dress-ups, colorful makeup, photoshoots, etc!

Next week I’d like to share something with you I’ve never shared with anyone before: my creative journey. I’ve been online since 2003 and as you can imagine, have racked up quite a resume! You’ll get a detailed overview of all my successes and failures, pictures & sounds, as well as  how I overcame difficulties and how those difficulties had helped shape me into the person I am today.

Deerlings: is there anything specific you’d like to hear about?

FormSpring is like Twitter, except it’s based around people asking each other questions. Isn’t that nice?? You can ask anybody anything, and even answer your own questions if you feel they’re worth sharing. The best thing is that your answers are posted on your page, so others can read them, too.

I’ll be doing my first FormSpring Q&A this week. Feel free to ask me anything you want – makeup advice, questions about entrepreneurship, even more personal stuff if you want. I’ll answer as many as I can and post answers this Wednesday!

Go here: www.formspring.me/limecrime Oh, and add me if you have an account!

UPDATE: we are no longer accepting applications, thank you!

What’s an Affiliate Program? It’s an awesome new way to spread glee while making some cash! You can post a banner on your blog, website, Facebook or LiveJournal and watch the money roll in.

How do I sign up? Signing up takes less than a minute – just have a PayPal account on the ready so you can get paid. Once approved, you’ll be given a code with a banner to stick on your site. The program will automatically track all sales that happen through your link (you make 10% of every sale). Go to limecrimemakeup.com and click on this banner on the left to sign up.

Tips & Tricks: Affiliate programs are most effective if you write about the product, what it does, why you like it & why your readers might like it too. If you’ve used Lime Crime or wrote about it before, your readers will be a lot more likely to click and make a purchase. You may also use your special affiliate link for hyper-linking to the Lime Crime site – it will automatically re-direct to limecrimemakeup.com while you earn your percentage. Let me know if you have any other questions!

This is not the only update for today. Stay tuned for a special Holiday announcement later! :)
