I’ve blogged about Karen before. I love her vintage-inspired style, striking looks and the fact that she is married to Jack White of The White Stripes – talk about a perfect match! Blue Orchid is one of my favorite music videos, ever.

How gorgeous is her makeup?! I just wish she had worn Chinchilla. :) Can’t wait to see what this girl comes out with next, in the meanwhile I might just have to pick up a pair of her shoes…

Anna Sui’s Manhattan Apartment

Those who know me personally know that my interests lie beyond just fashion and cosmetics. I also happen to be huge interior decor buff — flea markets, antique stores and thrift shops occupy a hefty space in my mind and a large chunk of my weekends. As I’m getting ready for our Housewarming Party (finally! We’ve been living in this apartment for 6 months, is it warm enough yet??), I’ve been going through my inspiration folder and wanted to share some images. These were published in ElleDecor and are of my favorite designer, Anna Sui’s, apartment in Manhattan.

Artistic people often see their surroundings as an extension of self and an opportunity for self-expression. I’m always curious to peak at other people’s dwellings because it allows you a glimpse into who they really are. Stylish people, specifically, cannot seem to stop at simply dressing their bodies; they must dress up the walls, too. For instance, my friend Poppy has a huge — and by huge I mean GINORMOUS — painting of a red poppy flower hanging in her living room… just as one might expect! My new LA apartment reflects very accurately where I stand in my aesthetic evolution — wait and see! ;)

A woman can’t have too many shoes; just inadequate storage. I’m organizing my shoe closet this week and wanted to share some shoe-spiration!

I love them all:

Boudoir-style,

color-coded,

dark and moody,

no-frills & practical,

boxed or messy a-la Marie Antoinette,

DIY’ed,

not shoe closets at all,

vast,

hot pink (!),

sweet & charming…

Deerlings: What does your dream shoe closet look like? Mine would be built into a wall, with heavy curtains shielding it from sunlight, and painted dark pink or crimson red…
