I love it when you tweet at me your looks using Lime Crime Makeup. Kate was one such person – I fell in love with her look and invited her to do a tutorial!

Check out Kate’s Blog/Twitter

Level: Intermediate

INGREDIENTS

Eyes: Lime Crime Magic Dust in Duchess, Twilight, Empress, Medusa, blue glitter, black liner pencil, mascara
Face: Liquid Foundation, Pressed Blot Powder, Pressed Powder Foundation, MUFE Camo Palette 5
Cheeks: MAC Blush Ombre in Vintage Grape (contour), Azalea Blossom (apples)
Lips: Lime Crime Opaque Lipsticks in Airborne Unicorn (base colour), No She Didn’t (on top)

Face

First I corrected any colour imperfections on my face by using Make Up For Ever Camo Palette 5 – this will assist in eliminating any unwanted blemishes or under eye circles. I then applied my MAC Studio Fix fluid foundation to even out my skin tone. I used MAC’s Blot Powder to eliminate shine in my T-Zone, and set my foundation with MAC’s Studio Fix Powder.

To add some colour and definition I applied MAC’s Blush Ombre in “Vintage Grape” in the hollows of my cheeks and “Azalea Blossom” on the apples of my cheeks.

Eyes

I prepped my eye lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion. I then took a small shader brush – and applied Lime Crime “Duchess” Magic Dust wet on the lids of my eye, fading it lightly into the crease. In the crease of my eye – I took an angled brush and applied Lime Crime Magic Dust in “Twilight” as a transition colour to assist with blending. I focused “Twilight” in the inner crease.

In the outer crease – and onto the orbital bone region I applied Lime Crime Magic Dust in “Empress” – I used a fluffy blending brush to apply this. I blended “Empress” into the crease and outer corner to add definition. I applied a hint of Lime Crime Magic Dust in “Medusa” to the outer corners for depth.

To add a little flare – I took MAC’s Reflects Blue Glitter and dabbed a tiny amount into the inner corners of my eye.

As a brow highlight I used Caryl Baker’s Mineral Shimmer Powder in Champagne (or you could use Lime Crime’s “Nymph” as a highlight). Finally I lined my waterline with black eye liner – I also smudged some black liner on my lower lash line – and applied “Twilight” over top of it – the black base really brings out the violet colour! LOVES! Then to complete the eyes I used black mascara.

Lips

After applying lip balm – I applied Lime Crime Opaque Lipstick in “Airborne Unicorn” and on top of that I dabbed some Lime Crime “No She Didn’t” to transform the lip colour into a violet-blue shade similar to Twilight.

You all loved Anna’s Kanariya tutorial. Today she’s back with another wonder that re-defines fantasy makeup!!!

With spring’s drawing near each day, I just can’t wait to go to the public rose gardens and walk down the cherry lanes. Especially this year’s flower festival is going to be special as we had a rough and scary winter here in Berlin. My desire for spring inspired me to do this look: Butterfly Blossoms. Just as my ‘Kanariya’ look it’s definitely not a make-up for daily occasions, but perfect for a flower festival!

INGREDIENTS

Eyes: Lime Crime Magic Dust in Treasure Chest, Medusa, loose glitter in silver and gold, black eyeliner and mascara, dried rose petals, and decorative wings.
Face: Foundation, setting powder
Cheeks: Bobbi Brown Peony blush
Lips: Lime Crime opaque lipstick in Great Pink Planet, Treasure Chest magic dust

Level: Advanced

FACE

First, I used my Guerlain Parure Aqua foundation to smooth my sensitive skin. Secondly, I applied Manhattan Perfect Teint Powder to mattify my face. Since this look is all about eyes and lips, it’s best to keep the rest of your face subdued – otherwise you’ll end up looking messy and too bold. Last but not least I boldly applied Bobbi Brown Peony blush (it’s okay to overplay this time).

EYES

I applied M.A.C’s Prep + Prime Eye all over my eyes, took a flat definer brush, dipped it into Treasure Chest pigment and applied it all over my top lid – no blending needed as your brow bone’s will be covered up with petals anyway. Then I did the same for Medusa and dabbed it on my crease. Instead of a kohl I thinly applied Medusa with an eye liner brush to my waterline. I suggest that you use Medusa wet, as its powers only intensify in combination with water. :) Take your eyeliner and draw a thin line and put mascara on your lashes.

We are going to need some eyelash glue to apply the petals (I used rose but any other flower would be fine). I got mine at the German store Strauß Innovation, but you can find them in lots of other places: craft stores, nail shops and even at home-improvement markets. And of course you can dry blossoms yourselves which takes quite a long time, but would make your look even more special! I used my fingers to apply, but you can also use tweezers as well. Dip a blossom into eyelash glue and firstly apply to lower lid’s outer corner. I had no shape concept in my head and arranged them at random. The glue dries very fast, so be quick! Alternately, I applied small petals and even tiny rose buds. Afterwards I took my red decorative butterfly wings (you can get those at hardware stores as well) and glued over the brow.

To add extra magic, I dipped a fluff brush into my silver and golden sparkles (from Etude House) and roughly applied them all over my eyes and even the flowers – that sparkle adds a lot! This might sound complicated, but all you really need is time, patience and the will to do this look!

LIPS

Since Lime Crime lipsticks are creamy and easy to put on (which is important as I have the driest lips on earth), I decided to finally try out Great Pink Planet. I dabbed multi-purpose magic dust in Treasure Chest on top to make my lips shimmery and glittery. Voila!

Thank you, Anna, for contributing this magical tutorial! More pictures here. Deerlings, if you have any questions, I’m sure Anna would be happy to answer them in comments.

Meet Mela: an adventurous makeup artist who does makeup for Betsey Johnson in Washington, DC. Although normally an Urban Decay kinda girl, Mela got a hold of my lipsticks and eyeshadows and fell in love. She wore this look to my Wacky Tea Party and was kind enough to share a tutorial!

Recently, I’ve been obsessed with all things violet. I don’t know what happened, as I’m usually a pink devotee, but I just woke up one day and purple was my new pink! The Wacky Tea Party at Doe Deere’s was the perfect opportunity for me to show off my love of lilac! Although the party wasn’t technically Valentine’s themed, it was the day before the big day and we were baking cupcakes so I decided I was going to valentine myself up!

Level: Advanced

EYES

I started my look by priming all over my eye with Urban Decay Primer Potion. Next I used Sugar Color Stick Cream Shadow (like a crayon!) in Grape Soda all over my lid. I followed up with Heavenly Naturals shadow in Princess, a light lavender with golden flecks, from my tear duct to the center of my lid, wetting my brush with one spritz of MAC Fix + and layering the pigment to achieve opacity. I attached a piece of scotch tape from the bottom corner of my eye to my eyebrow to create a barrier for my pigment for a razor-sharp look. I then wet my flat MAC 239 brush with Fix + and dipped it into Lime Crime magic dust in Empress, foiling it on to the outer half of my eye. I softly blended Empress into the cream shadow/lavender section with a MAC 217 blending brush. Then I traced a line along my crease using Urban Decay Ecstasy shadow on a MAC 219 pencil brush. I finished the shadow by applying Lime Crime magic dust in Nymph with the 217 as a highlight.

I lined my top lashes with Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner, which has an extremely sharp felt tip. I kept the line as close to my lash line as possible. I applied glitter strip lashes to my top lash line over the line I had created. When applying false lashes, make sure to let the glue become tacky before adhering them to your eye – they bond much better that way! I then drew a wing with the Stila liner from the corner of my eye upwards.

I lined my lower lashline with Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Zero and carried the liquid liner wing down to my lower lashline as well. I lightly coated the false lashes with Dior Show Iconic mascara. Your final result should look something like this.

FACE

I concealed under my eye and blended alongside the wing with Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer in CIA. I topped the cream concealer with Benefit Powderflage to ensure that my liner would not stray. I applied Tarte in a Perfect Whirled – a shimmery bubblegum pink blush – on my cheeks.

My look was bold and beautiful but not complete – I needed more glitter!

I glued a pink glitter foam heart to my cheekbone using eyelash adhesive – eyelash glue is your best friend in a look like this! I then applied individual lavender jewels under my right lash line. The jewels were from a Forever 21 nail kit and I picked up each jewel with tweezers and placed a single dot of glue on each before placing it under my eye. Since it was a wacky tea party, I didn’t want to be too symmetrical and I randomly glued pink hearts (also from a nail art kit) using the same technique all around and under my left eye.

LIPS

I painted my lips with Lime Crime opaque lipstick in Centrifucshia and topped with MAC Dazzleglass Crème in Crème Allure.

Our new intern Anna is not only a web wiz but also a talented makeup artist! Check out her debut tutorial below and let’s hope to many more to come!

INGREDIENTS

Eyes: Lime Crime Shoe Addict, Lime Criminal, Mirror Mirror, silver glitter, black eyeliner, black kohl, mascara, rhinestones, fake diamonds and decorative hearts (e.g from Claire’s)

Face: Foundation, setting powder

Lips: clear gloss

Complexity level: Advanced

The “Kanariya” look is definitely not for daily occasions (although I like to go out like this as often as I can). Try this look for glamorous parties and glittery events. It requires an advanced skill because of glitter and rhinestone application.

Eyes
I started out by applying eyelid primer to my lids. I’ll be working with bright pigments and want them to have a nice, sticky surface to adhere to. Using a wet, angled brush apply Shoe Addict to your crease from inner corner to outer. Fade it into the brow bone lightly. Apply Mirror Mirror as a base colour to your whole top lid, then take a tiny sponge, dip it in silver glitter and apply all over top lid. Applying glitter can be a challenge at first, but you’ll get a hang of it eventually – remember, practice makes perfect!

Next, take a short-bristled shader brush and sweep Shoe Addict across bottom lid. Fade it into Lime Criminal on outer corners with a medium brush. Apply Lime Criminal to inner corners with a small brush.

As you can see, my left eye is different from my right. I applied Lime Crime and Shoe Addict wet, in short strokes on the other eye, which created this beautiful ‘feathered’ effect.

Confetti and rhinestones application

Now we’re coming to the most difficult part of the look: getting the rhinestones and silver hearts onto the skin. Dab on some Vaseline or eyelash glue (with a q-tip) to cover the under eye area. Once you have the sticky landing surface for your confetti, dip a fluff brush into the silver hearts and apply randomly under the eye. This look isn’t supposed to look structured, but rather mysteriously sparkling. Stick multi-colored rhinestones with tweezers. Dust some extra silver glitter over.

Finally, I used some black eyeliner, kohl and rather less mascara – up to you. I didn’t do anything about my eyebrows because my bangs cover them anyway, but you might want to pay attention to yours. Even the most beautiful make-up on earth can be ruined by unkept brows.

Face
It’s the same procedure as always: foundation, setting powder, some blush if you like. Set with loose powder using a large, fluffy brush.

Lips
I kept my lips simple – just a dab of clear lip gloss does it!

Deerlings: Anna would love to see your interpretation of this look! Send your pictures to anna @limecrimemakeup.com

I have a set of Japanese mugs, each featuring a panda in black and white. Pandas are adorable because they look like bears in makeup! Look at those dark eyes and sharp black lips. :D This tutorial is inspired by pandas and my love for these mysterious animals.

INGREDIENTS

Eyes: black & white eyeliner, Lime Crime magic dust in Enchant, Nymph

Lips: Lime Crime opaque lipstick in Styletto, lip liner

Face: Foundation, setting powder, blush

Face

Normally, I recommend applying eye makeup first when working with dark/bright eyeshadow – but in this case fallout is welcomed, so let’s do it! Moisturize skin, let sip in for a few minutes and apply foundation, setting with whole face with loose powder. Don’t forget to brush on your favorite blush onto cheeks – you want to be a happy, healthy panda! :D

Eyes

Pandas have characteristic dark spots that droop down slightly. We will focus all attention on the lower lid. Prep the lids with eyeshadow primer (I recommend Urban Decay Primer Potion, $16) and sweep Nymph across the top lid and under the inner corner. Apply Enchant starting from the outer corner and into the crease, and underneath the eye. Accentuate waterline with white pencil. With a larger brush, blend out slightly. I like the slightly messy look, so I picked up some pigment with a brush and tapped it lightly to fall right under my eye.

Eyeliner plays and instrumental role in this look: it helps sharpen the silhouette of the eye. I like to use gel eyeliner or liquid for extra precision – a pencil just won’t give you that sharp line. Keeping eyeliner close to the lashes, draw a thick line on your lower lid, dropping it slightly on the inner corner. Draw another thick line on top lid. Your results should look something like this:

Brush on 2-3 layers of mascara on top & bottom lashes and apply white pencil line on waterline. Eyebrows are optional – mine were hidden under bangs, but if you can get away with the browless look, go for it!

Lips

Tip: use an angled brush and a dab of concealer to craft extra-precise lines and correct mistakes.

Because we’re a panda, we have black lips – and they don’t compete with our eyes but only complement them! Darker lip colors require extreme precision in application, so if it doesn’t come out right don’t stress – it will come with practice! I didn’t have a black lip liner so I use a regular eyeliner pencil (it’s ok, just be sure there are no ‘not for lips’ warnings on the packaging). Outline lips – I recommend going for a slightly fuller shape than you usually do since black tends to visually minimize – and fill in with Styletto lipstick directly from the tube. I recommend keeping lips gloss-free for this look (lipstick has sheen to it naturally). Voila!
