Roses have had meaning since the dawn of times. They symbolize beauty, youth, purity, hope, and of course are the ultimate symbol of love. Since the winter, I’ve been haunted by roses – I’ve incorporated them in my wardrobe, decorated my hair and home with them, and attempted to concoct the perfect rose perfume. For The Love Of Roses picnic is my chance to share my affection for these gentle yet powerful flowers with you, and celebrate my 29th birthday.

It’s an open invitation and anyone is free to come (please bring your own blanket). We will have cupcakes, rose-water lemonade, and – if last year was any indication – lots of wonderful people. Dress code is romantic floral; rose-related presents encouraged and always welcome! We hope to see you there!

Please RSVP in comments so we know how many cupcakes to bring. :)

I have a new friend: Puggy Puggles!

You’d never know from a picture – or even in real life for a split second! – that Puggy is not a real dog. He is an extremely realistic toy that also functions as a purse (there is a zipper atop his back)! Puggy and I have been inseparable since the day I “adopted” him from a thrift store for only $1. I named him Puggy Puggles because I really miss my cat, Puffy Fluffles, and he kind of looks like a canine version of her.

Here he is! The leash = purse handle.

I’m just in love with him and have a feeling he’ll be appearing in many more pictures on the blog. :)

Packing was never my favorite thing to do but this time, it’s different: I’m packing smart. I might regret it later, but here goes: I’m bringing fewer clothes and ‘stretching’ each piece to its maximum capacity. I know that during this trip I’m going to need casual, semi-formal and leisure outfits. I feel like a sartorial escape artist! For the next 10 days I will be living out of:

  • 3 dresses
  • 1 skirt
  • 1 shrug
  • 1 cardigan
  • 1 jacket
  • 3 pairs of tights/leggings
  • 2 pairs of heels + keds
  • a handful of accessories.

Can I make it work? I don’t know! But I’ll be posting pictures for everyone to see, no matter how good or disastrous an outfit!

In other news, the reason for this trip is our tour in support of Lime Crime’s launch at SpaceNK. I’m SUPER-stoked to see everyone in LA & San Francisco! I look forward to doing lipstick consultations and smiling for lotsa pictures!

  • Los Angeles – May 22, 4-7pm | 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard, Century City
  • San Francisco – May 25, 4-7 pm | 845 Market Street

What’s in my purse:

Deerlings: what’s in your purse this week?

I went vegetarian 2 weeks prior to my trip. I have to say, London is not a vege-friendly town and it’s rather hard to get a healthy meal that doesn’t contain some kind of meat or chicken. I did enjoy all the “prawn” though! Oh, and they have fresh-squeezed fruit smoothies in cartons sold at every supermarket! Oh, and this is Snog.

Pictures from London trip will be up on Flickr tomorrow. Now I’m off to deliver our donation check in person to Bideawee.
