I'd love to have one, but i;m so afraid. I'm too young right now, too. I'd also feel selfish if the child ruined the relationship between me and my *future* husband. But children are so beautiful, so wonderful, it would seem cruel to refuse taking care of a living being like that. As for adoption, I plan to take care of orphans when I'm old and my children have grown up. The way selfishness goes, I feel that creating a child through artificial means or aborting a child is the most selfish and inhumane. The child will be mostly likely be unhealthy and not to mention the destruction of other embryos in the process. It's better to adopt a child or share responsibility with a poor mother. Children are the most beautiful, purest thing in this world, though.

I am proud to be child-free! Guess I'm one of the "selfish" ones, but honestly I just find them to be utterly annoying.

But more importantly, I feel that overpopulation is a major cause of the world's problems. We'd have enough resources to go around and not as much pollution if there were less people, so I actually think it's pretty irresponsible to have kids. Yes, of course, we need some or else humans would die out (of course, some days I don't think that would be such a bad thing!) - but we don't need so many!

You have to have a license to drive, a license to practice medicine, a license to own a gun - there are licenses required for all kinds of things and yet anyone with a functional reproductive system can breed? And you wonder why there are so many dysfunctional families and abused/neglected/unwanted children...

I think fostering should be required before a couple is allowed to have kids - this way they can see if they like it/can handle it, etc. Adoption should also be a requirement - you can have one of your own if you absolutely must but then any others have to be adopted.

I never had the desire to have children...period. I will be 39yo in a couple months and have no regrets. Its nice to be able to do whatever I want, whenever I want. My boyfriend agrees. Its great having only animals...3 cats, 2 sugar gliders, and 2 horses! My boyfriend agrees! And if I did change my mind, I would adopt....makes more sense than bringing a child into this world when there are so many out there waiting to be adopted!

And by the way, I think calling both child-free and child-want people selfish is silly.

I know this people I wish had children are contributing their way.
Some are friends of mine and I'd never say they are not doing their part just because of not wanting kids...

I just think they'd have great kids and I wish I could meet them...

On the other way I wish people would learn from them! Kids or adults, I hope someone will learn from them!

Some people do so much and no one even knows... no one even thinks: hey, I could do that too!

Oh well, I might be changing the subject...

Really, I support being child-free is an option but what bugs me is that the coolest people don't want kids.

Some people would have so much to teach and to make a better world with better children, that cared for others, for the nature and such.
But they don't want to and I feel world loses something....

I want to have kids and I'll do my best to teach them about the problems of our society!

Maybe it won't change the world but it might change a little, change their lives and the lives of people around them.

That's also why I want to work with children.
