Dragonfly: makeup tutorial
Category: Makeup Tutorials

This makeup is incredibly versatile and looks good on almost anyone – regardless of hair, eye or complexion color. It got its name from dragonfly, a summer bug with pretty, iridescent wings!

INGREDIENTS
- Eyeshadows: Enchant, Snow Queen, Princess Caraboo
- Eyes: eyeshadow primer, mascara, black gel or liquid liner
- Lips: Maybelline Wet Shine gloss in Fuchsia Blast
- Face: Foundation Primer, concealer, foundation, pink blush, Pixie Dust
Eyes
Curl lashes. Apply 3 layers of black mascara to top & bottom, let dry. Curl again.
One of the best things about L.C. magic dusts is that they can be applied wet or dry. Wet application allows for higher color payoff and can be achieved by wetting a brush in water or your favorite mixing medium. You don’t want it to be dripping-wet, just slightly moist to pick up more color.
Prep your lids with Eyeshadow Primer. With a wet brush, pack Snow Queen onto the center of lid and inner corner. With a crease-defining brush, draw an arch slightly above the crease with Princess Caraboo. Apply the same color on lower lid with a medium-sized brush. Darken outer corners with Enchant. Pick up a larger shadow brush (dry) and dip it in Snow Queen again – then blend everything to your liking. Snow Queen makes a gorgeous highlight color. Apply it to brow bone with a larger brush, and to inner corners of the eye with a small brush. (All brushes can be found in this Essential Set.)
Apply black eyeliner on waterline and top lids, as close to the lashes as possible.

Face
Moisturize skin with lotion. Apply Foundation Primer and then foundation with a sponge evenly all over the face. Concealer for dark spots and under the eyes. Fill in eyebrows. Apply a tinge of pink blush on the apples of cheeks. Finish off with Pixie Dust.
Lips
This lipstick was a gift from a fan and is one of my favorites. Maybelline Wet Shine gloss is Fuchsia Blast is a pretty, sparkly pink that’s not too overwhelmingly bright. Voila!

Kickin’ it with Mosh
I did Mosh’s makeup here. The red sparkle you see is Transilvania glitter.

I just have to say that you are my idol! You never cease to amaze me with your glamorous, star-studded life. Your life is like a dream! You wake up to a lavish dessert for breakfast, hang out with models and rock stars all day, go to the most exclusive nightclubs and parties at night, enjoy glamorous trips to Las Vegas, and everybody just adores you! And you seem so down-to-earth and kind-hearted, you really deserve all the fame and success that you have.
Grrrrr I really need to get out of this hicktown and move to NYC!

I absolutely adore this look. Some of them are a little “out there” for rural Minnesota, but I feel that this is a look that is very versatile, and would be great anywhere up here (we like colder colors, it goes with out weather!)

Hi, not a comment on this post as such, but I’d just like to say that I recieved my Lime Crime eyeshadows and pixie dust the other day, Im used to using Barry M makeup which is a strong shimmer, so I dipped my finger into your yellow colour, drew it across my thumb joint and both my sister and I (my sister who has been following your tutorials for years!) both exclaimed “BLOODY HELL!” (yes, we’re british :P)…I have since gone on to wear the pixie dust as an all over face product, without foundation and its spectacular. Also, thankyou for bring out a purple that doesnt look mostly black or look like the colour an old lady would use!!! I have seriously been looking for so long for a VIBRANT purple (who doesnt love purple?) and I have, at last, found the woman who sells the perfect one :) well done, and thankyou <3 xxxx

It’d be cool if you could make a video of some of the daily basic makeup things you do daily, like applying foundation, filling in eyebrows, etc. Or maybe a video of you applying makeup to someone else (like Mosh).

This is gorgeous i love green. Eventually I’m going to try it.
I’m still having issues with the whole “eyeshadow Primer” thing. Can you -or ANYONE suggest a primer less than $20 that works well with the lime crime magic dusts?
I did finally try out one of mine for my birthday party and i really think I do need a primer.

Suzanne, have you tried the Loreal Decrease primer? It works pretty well and runs about $7. Good Luck!

THANKS Danielle! That is so in my price range I’ll check it out!
I came Back to apologize. I asked the same question in Beauty Basics Q & A a few days ago. Doe answered my question already.
If your curious she suggested “Urban Decay Primer Potion or something the Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance” Both about $17
I really hope Danielle’s suggestion works out so I can save $10.

I wish that, when you linked to your tutorials on LJ or other places, that you’d link to the specific tutorial instead of your entire blog.
