Tales of the Unicorn Queen

Inspiration can come from most unexpected places – like a beer bottle! When I saw this Belgian ale at the Russian store (they sell a lot of European stuff), I had to have it immediately. Not only did it have an unusual look – check out that purplish-blue foil! – the name also appealed to me: Delirium Nocturnum. Apparently, it’s a brewery in Belgium. The beer was excellent, by the way; experts give it 86 out of 100.

Translated into an outfit:

The trick with red-white-&-blue palette, of course, is not to end up looking like an American flag. So I threw in some gray boots just in case, and a deer necklace. :)

Oh goodness, Deere, you look so stunningly adorable! I didn’t think ‘American flag’ when I looked at you, more like ‘French flag’, you’d need way more stripes (and stars, but I’m not sure how feasible those are for an outfit?) for that.

Stuff like packaging inspires me all the time. Don’t worry about it. Think of packaging as an art style – most everything these days is some sort of art, is it not?

You have just discovered one of my very favorite beers ; )~

    Delirium Tremens is even better.

btw… I didn’t know you like beer. That is so cool. If you really liked the Delirium, you are definitely not a beer novice, because it is NOT for the feint of heart…

btw… it was coincidental to see your post this morning since I was just listening to Sky Salt on the way to work ; )~

    Take care.

I know that beer! I thougt it was really good too. Got it from a store just a few minutes away(when you have a car) and they have a lot of beer! Never saw so much beer before.

    That coat is beautiful.
Never been inspired by packaging but I do like to have something skull or bones related in everything I wear. Makes me happy, such as the Day of the Dead Skull dress I made, I like to twirl in it.

pretty…always so, so pretty. well inspiration can come from weird things: beer bottles, plastic bags, old advertisement, clouds, whatever. it’s about seeing the beauty behind the ordinary.

That beer bottle looks fantastic! And so does your outfit. ;)
I’ve been inspired by shoe boxes, and gift wrap; so don’t feel weird.

Heee! I have that exact pair of booties, and completely adore them. What a marvelous way to glean inspiration for outfits … I’m going to raid my cupboard tonight to help me decide what to wear tomorrow.

  • Brittney says:

So cute, the skirt is adorable! Love the makeup, too. That shade of blue is so gorgeous, I have a dress that color and never know what to wear it with.

I’ve gotten outfit ideas from a lot of books, but nothing like a beer bottle.

  • Miss Karen says:

Wow that beer looks amazing, I must try to find out here in Australia!

Your outfit is perfect, I love your make up too :)

I have yet to gain inspiration from inanimate objects but you’ve certainly put the idea into my head!

Oh yes, I am a huge (soon to be literally, if I keep this up!) beer connoisseur. I don’t normally drink alcohol, and especially not in public, but make an exception for beer. :) I’m still trying to figure out the difference between lager, ale and beer though…

The Day of the Dead dress sounds fantabulous :D

    Agreed 100%!

I am totally obsessed with bright blues. Good thing they’ve been in lately, so I can buy a lot of clothes that I like! You should check some stores too – might find something for that dress of yours!
