Tales of the Unicorn Queen

I was recently interviewed by a fetish magazine. Don’t worry, I didn’t say anything racy… or did I? {Read the interview}

When you’re done reading, experience this cinematographic masterpiece by the White Stripes, featuring Jack White’s wife and my favorite red-haired model Karen Elson!

“Fixe Magazine interview”

  • Everytime I see those shoes I fetish magazines I think of my friend from when I was fourteen who took ballet. I remember going to the shoe supply shoe to get her lambs wool for her point shoes and then her showing me what had happened to her poor toes when the wool had been worn out. So not sexy, no matter how beautiful they make your legs!
I could totally see a fetish magazine interviewing you. Have you ever seen Marquis Fashion http://tinyurl.com/4n32n8 ?

Xenia, I had no idea you volunteered for rescue shelters too =P
I do a lot of that up here in Minnesota. A rescue is the best pet you could ever hope for, they appreciate your love very much.
PS-I was sad I didn’t get to win the 10 lime crime make ups, but glad I got a chance to participate! You should do more of those in the future, that had a really great turn-out!

I’m a big fan of The White Stripes too… I love the style of this music video. The color and atmosphere is incredible… and so is Jack! :)

I love that song and those shoes are amazing!

Awesome article too. And sorry for not being able to participate in the winter competition (even though it’s summer here) but I didn’t have the time. I waned to create a dance for you!

  • Jaclyn says:

    Lovely interview!
This is my all time favourite video. The colours, props, Karen, everything! Floria Sigismondi is extremely talented and her music videos continue to amaze me.

  • Eyeliah says:

One of my fav songs! Had it as my ringtone for a while too. :-) I like my man with long hair.

  • autumn says:

Great interview, thank you for sharing. I am throwing a fit over the heels in the video. I wish I had a pair.

  • Brat says:

Those shoes remind me of a pair Gwen Stefani wore at the Brit awards a few years ago when she sang, ‘What’cha Waitin’ For.’
They were pink pointe shoes with ribbons going up her legs and a ginormous heel, I loved them so much that I remember them to this day!
    x

i watched this video a while ago!
it’s what got me listening to the white stripes

  • Sinead says:

Very interesting interview =) I think it’s great you’re so successful with you makeup and you only really got interested in your 20′s.
Also, that’s my faavorite White Stripes song, but I had no idea it had a video! let alone such a fun one to watch =]

  • Bonnie :) says:

wow. that was the awesomenst white stripes video everr. o.o
but the shoes scare me for some reason.. O.O

  • Alinä says:

Hi :] i read your interview “I believe that a fetish tells a story about a person.” this is quiet interesting why you say that? what makes you think that?
    Greets from a Scandinavian fellow!

  • Sara says:

Ahhh, Lip Service used shoes like those for their Duchess Du Sade line. x3 They are so lovely, I want a pair just to have. I don’t think I could actually wear them in public. Too stilt-like~

  • kim says:

I remember seeing shoes like that at a store in the city years ago, might have been Trash and Vaudeville. I was looking at them and a girl goes “honey, you only wear those if you have someone to carry you from the car, to a seat, and back again!”
That’s stuck in my mind ever since. I was intrigued to see someone walking in them in the video!

  • kim says:

    Brat-

I was curious as to how Gwen Stefani could perform in shoes like that so I looked it up on You Tube and they’re just giant platform shoes with ribbons. =)

  • savannah says:

jack white is my god. i love that whole insane vintage circus ringmaster thing he has going on.

kudos to his poor wife for walking in those shoes, and seemingly being almost crushed by a big white pony!

  • Tamara says:

It made me giggle. xD BDSM is interesting.. :) and fun!

  • Werran says:

    Hi!

I love your blogg, it’s so inspiring! You’re so pretty in your red har. Thorse shoes are really out there :)

  • Kim says:

After having taken ballet classes for six years, I can tell you it is dangerous to wear those shoes. They can break your feet. I’ve taken some pointes classes myself; you don’t walk on pointes just for fun, way to painfull :D

  • I can’t see it here :( it’s blocked

  • Alison says:

I thought the video was quite intriguing. I love the cinematography. However, I do have to say that I hate those shoes. I agree with Kim’s sentiments. I was training to be a professional dancer (injuries decided otherwise), and I used to teach beginner pointe and pre-pointe (training to go en pointe) classes. It’s unsafe to wear pointe shoes without proper training, so those shoes make me cringe.

I loved the interview. By the way, there is currently a petition going on to have the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the diagnostic criteria for the American Psychiatric Association) changed so that it does not pathologize kink. Here is a link to more information about it if you are interested: http://ncsfreedom.org/

  • Lenora Jayne says:

One of my favorite music videos; right after I saw it for the first time (when it came out) I went online and hunted for hours to find out what those shoes were. They’re killer; I’d love to learn how to walk in them.

Also, I didn’t know you did illustration! Very cool.
