My obsession with flowers continues, as I dive head-first into collecting vintage flower hats — because who doesn’t want their head to look like a miniature flowerbed???

It appears to be from the 60s, and is made entirely out of teeny faux white flowers. I imagine it was intended as bridal wear but when did I ever play by the rules? ;) My favorite bit is the olive-green velvet bow — so playful!

It’s gotten to the point where I can’t do a single outfit without some kind of a hattie!!
How about you, deerlings? How do you accessorize?

Oh my god that hat is adorable!! I love the sixties!! I usually accessorize with an oversized hairbow, biiig earrings and a necklace. For school I wear tons of bracelets too (but I get told off loads for them!). :D

P.S Your eyelashes are actually immense! And did I mention that your hat is AMAZING!!
Oh wow, could this look any cooler on you!? I don’t think so! LOVE IT!
Beautiful ! Flawless skin! Your makeup looks stunning :D
I have to know what you are wearing on your lips!! Looks fabulous!!

It’s actually Retrofuturist, but the photo is paled-out max so it looks nothing like the color haha.

Wow, you should add that color to your lipstick collection (the way it looks in the image obviously, not Retrofuturist :P ), it’s stunnning!
Wow… you look stunning! Especially that last photo! I admire your guts in general!
Have you checked my funky jewellery?? This is how I accessorize now – I’m a new jewellery designer (really new… up to the point that I’ve made a bag of goodies, but haven’t figured out how I’ll start selling them!…. oh well!)
you look like a doll… as usual =)
That last picture of you might be one of my favorites you’ve ever taken! And I’ve been reading you for years now. So pretty! :)
Uuuhhh I love it!! want this hat so bad! I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse;)
It looks great with your white hair!
I don’t accessorize at all. I wear the same cord choker and earring every day. I’ve sort of wanted to get some nice accessories though since I got a whole new wardrobe for the spring to showcase my new style. I do have to say though, you look stunning in these photos. Flawless beauty! I kind of wish you didn’t move because I’ve never met you and you’re so far away now!
I must admit when I saw the first picture of the hat, I was very nervous. I tend to not like that style very much (perhaps I’m just jaded because no hats look good on me). But somehow you make it work, and work WELL. It really looks fantastic on you.
Due to my lack of hat wearing ability and a hang up against dyeing my hair all the colors I want to, I wear hair falls (http://www.etsy.com/shop/fancyfairiegirl?view_type=list), so that I can have whatever color hair I want at a moment’s notice! Making my own accessories turned into an online business!
Wow! I may try to make something like this. It seems like it wouldn’t be all that hard. Very pretty!
LUV the lashes…I’ve been getting into both this year. Lashes & Floral Hats. CAn’t get enough. You Look Marvie.
<3 Oh oh! that hat is more vintage than 60's! That style was most popular around the mid 50's to the 60's. Hats are probably my favorite accessory of all. Lucky I can wear most kinds.

I suspected it may be older than that; my grandmother, who’d spent her youth in the 50s, had a few similar ones. I’m happy you were able to place it so precisely, it’s good to know my hat’s age!
I make my own jewelry! I’ll post some stuff I’ve put together later on my blog and I’ll like to it, but I try to make new jewelry for different purposes! Recently I tend to wear bright bold colors that are mostly comic book styled to wear a great necklace my boyfriend got me! Its a yellow POW! I love it so much!!!

PS. What are you wearing on your eyes, I absolutely love the minimalist style you did here!

Shhhh I actually wore blush on my eyelids. ;) You’re not supposed to technically (red dyes used in blush are generally not approved for eyes), but I did anyway because I loved the soft, apricot hue…
Wow! The hat looks so nice with your light hair!
I wear a lot of ethnic jewelry because I am in tribal fusion belly dance. I’ve really gotten into the boho chic over the past few years, especially in the spring… so lots of clunky metal and organic jewelry worn with my myriad cotton dresses. :-)
That mint colored nail polish! What color is that?
And will there be nail polish in Lime Crime’s future?
That hat is adorable, and I love your makeup, it’s so pretty! I love to accessorize with all kinds of things, I love big statement necklaces, pretty earrings, headbands, fun rings, pretty much everything…I collect accessories. (See: Accesssory Collection! )
Wow! What a gorgeous look! ….I don’t suppose you could do a tutorial for this look? :D I just love your hat!!
Looks wonderful with your blonde hair! Fabulous lashes too :] Lovely as always!
peace and love! shabby

You’re hat is lovely! I want one! :)
This post reminded me, I saw ‘Gardens of Whimsy’ on your page a few weeks ago and begged my to buy me a hair wreath for my sixteenth. She finally said yes and I was so excited! But when we went to order it, we found that we weren’t able to use our mastercard, which is all we have. So heartbreaking. ):
Just thought I’d tell you my little sad story. But you really do look beautiful, I’ve already got ideas from your makeup! :D
The hat is DEAR! That bow is jacked up though! Try straightening it with a flat iron, will also keep the petals in place if they get smooshed

Thanks for the tip babe!!
I have an absurd love for lace in any form. The career I am pursuing requires more conservative attire so I usually line the pockets with lace or other exciting materials so I still get in my quirky goodness.
I love how clean and textured that hat looks on you. Gorgeous make-up and hair by the way. You look so different and beautiful in that sort of blonde. :)
Oh you look dolly gorgeous! The vintage shop where I work has a lot of flower hats from the 50s-60s. People in Australia don’t really wear hats like this anymore as they can be a little over the top. But they definitely suit you! I’ll send you some pictures if you’re interested. :) x

Hi Elly,
I’m in Australia too, and I’d love if you could send me the links as I love vintage too! It’s hard to find decent vintage here unfortunately :(
Doe, you look so ethereal, amazing!

I’m from Australia too and I agree. Vintage in Australia is difficult to find. I severly need some good shops to go to!
Your make are so beautiful… Prety make!!!!!
kisses
everything about this = perfect! I’ve been obsessed with vintage flowered hats for-evah!
My favorite accessories are (fake) pearl necklaces, and pearl bracelets. Well, pearl anything actually! Or any jewelry that has a Renaissance feel about it.
which falsies are you wearing here… they’re just magnificent!! love this look – gorgeous!!
Flowers in your hair just screams springtime! I never thought of a whole hat covered in flowers though. It looks gorgeous on you. I was admiring the silk flowers in the craft store yesterday, I might have to follow your lead and have a fowerbedhead of my own.
This looks amazing with your beautiful hair! You always look so effortlessly amazing, I love your style
I often accessorize with unicorns. ;)
I have these mostly white shoes I puffy-painted a unicorn, rainbows, and sparkles on them that i wear almost everyday. (mostly white because they’ve gotten quite dirty in the melting snow and mud) I also have a small unicorn cameo-like pendant I usually wear too.
I wish there was some vintage shops in my city! The closest thing are bad thrift and consignment stores and a summer antiques show, but barely anything is there either.
JELLY :)
Love your make up in these images.
when it comes to accessorizes, I love shoes and nail polishes.
