- Round sunglasses
- Flower wreath
- White lacey dress with bell sleeves
- Animal jewelry
- Funky floral shoes
- Scented candles
- Orange lipstick & blush
I’m a child of a babyboomer – my mother’s style is deeply influenced by all things bohemian and hippie. There is something incredibly romantic and free about dressing in lace, long sleeves and putting flowers in your hair. It’s definitely the look I will be rocking again and again this summer!

Trying wearing My Beautiful Rocket as lipstick AND blush!

You can dress it up for the night:

Dress: flea market, wreath: hand-made, beret: thrifted, shades: Jet Rag, necklace: Forever21, lipstick: My Beautiful Rocket
Deerlings: would you wear this?

you should def wear the more natural make up more often in my opinion, you look very cute au natural!
Oh my goodness, the shoes at the top are GORGEOUS <3 ~!!
Where did you get them from??

I believe those are Irregular Choice, one of my favorite shoe brands. <3

Doe, you just made me love you more. I love Irregular Choice, I’ve never seen shoes that are so fun (besides the late Alexander McQueen).
Yes I would wear that! I love the hippie/boho style (and my really long blonde hair fits it) Where did you get that dress? Or I might just have to find a pattern to make it!
one day I’ll be brave enough to make looks with My beautiful Rocket and No She Didnt!!!

You can do it!! :D
It’s a cute style on you but I would never wear it. I hate the whole hippy look especially floral prints and headbands around the forehead which seems to be popular with the hipsters in my area as well. It is a bit odd I don’t like that fashion style at all since the lifestyle I do lead is quite hippyville (yoga, vegetarian, only eat organic fruits and veggies, have a garden, have a compost heap in yard, anti war, always trying to lesson my carbon footprint in this world etc…) but the fashion style is just not me.
And what are the red shadows on your legs? It looks like paint.

The weird redness on her legs in the second photo is a result of saturating the red tones in the image using Photoshop. It’s from trying to make the reds more red, brighter. It was probably reddish to begin with because of the warm tone of the sunlight at that time of day.

I think the bright red shadows distracts from the photo so I would have used less of that filter. Just my opinion.

I like more of a punky, edgey style myself and I used to hate anything hippie, but I’ve been finding myself liking SOME of it. I don’t like flower headbands or the hipster floral prints that are “in” (even though its making selling my mothers old clothes great! its in style now!) but some of the flowy white dresses are nice.
And yea, it looks like the saturation or maybe selective coloring went a bit high, but it’s only a picture and its only a bit of accidental photshopping mishap, I don’t think it distracts too much since I know it was probably an accident and went unnoticed when the picture was published.

then the editor should use a mask in photoshop to take out that redness not hard really.

Yeah, I’m still mastering the art of Photoshop. I used some plug-in that gave me that cool effect.

Dear Tokidoki
I really respect your genuine ethical views. There are many out there who adopt this look because its fashionable to be seen to look like an earth lover when they are not really!
I won’t wear it because you’re in NYC also and you’re owning this look!!! :) Also, the shoes in the top photo are Irregular Choice… my favorite! :D

No, I was planning to though. Was he there just yesterday or all week?

I think he was just there for one day, but they have an online sale going on at least!
Sure, I’d wear it…I love bohemian elements!
I love how you are so beautiful but also REAL and completely unfazed by other people’s “standards.”
I also like how you’re not afraid to pair your new “pooch” with this outfit. heehee Gotta get me one-a those.
This isn’t really my style, but you look really gorgeous as always!
Ooh, super cute! I would definitely wear this, gotta find a dress like that.
So pretty! ^ ^
Would definitely try a look inspired by this – it’s so simple, yet elegant and cute – even though it’s not my ‘usual’ style at all. Branching out is always fun, anyway.
Plus, just ordered MBR, and I’m already stoked that this looks so nice paired with it!!
I love that orange lipstick. I’ve been considering getting it because I can rock bright red, why couldn’t I rock orange? :] Love your pretty Hippie look today, Doe! <3
Love and Turtledoves,
Jaco
Really awesome look – thanks for the idea!! i’m so bad at putting outfits together, so this is very welcome! Just need to sneak a little pink into the outfit, as I can’t live without it, and it’s mine!
love it! especially the glasses and heels! :)
also i remember reading in one of your blogs you like roses at the moment and thought you might like the look of theese:

im glad you like it :)
I think it looks great on you. These pictures look more like paintings (or 60s album covers!). Very neat. I would wear the look but I find I prefer to incorporate 1 or 2 hippie/boho pieces into my “normal” outfit rather than go for the full ensemble. One thing I always love though is any kind of flower hair/head accessory.
Wonderful hat Doe ! we have the same ! haha
I like your “get the look” you should make more !
And use your lipstick as a blush ? GENIUS !
Very nice and summery!
I know you are super busy, but I do wish you would do more make up tutorials. I think it would be fun to put all of your lipsticks in a hat and all of your eyeshadows in another and then pick two at random and do something crazy.

I hear ya! Will try to do more makeup looks in the future. :)
I certainly would wear that look. I have that beret myself–also thrifted! :)
That look seems way too “grown up” for you, Doe! It’s so….colorless.

What I lack in color in my clothes I make up for on my face. :)
I’d totally wear it. My mom grew up in the 60-70′s as well. Her style was then primarily hippie/bohemian (and the way it should be worn and not some of the crappy “inspired” looks of today), with real indian import clothing and jewellery. She just not fitted the style, but also participated in numerous rallies in my country and lots and lots of hippie expierences =D
That’s why I’m so sad she threw almost everything away (and she is as well, she wanted to share it with me), but I’m trying to rebuild it myself one part at a time =3

Wow, that’s something that almost never happens – a child trying to emulate a parent’s look. I find it rather fascinating.
I love this look! Its so Audrey Kitching with the homemade flower headband and Irregular Choice shoes! Was she your inspiration?
Doe Deere Reply:

Audrey can rock the boho look for sure, but my mom was the inspiration for this one. :)
The dress is supercute, I would definitely wear it; however, the puppy purse I find rather creepy.
you look like a hot high priestess from the 1970′s

Yes, definitely would wear it!
I LOVE the bohemian/hippie fashion! Granted, it’s hard to buy clothes like that living in cowboy-ville Wyoming, but I try. Online shopping is my best friend. ^^

Yay for online shopping! eBay and Etsy are a goldmine when it comes to these.
I would!!!! I love lace soooo much!!! and I love the 60s hippie era
:o I love that look. Especially the shoes. Yumyum
Oh my god, I would ADORE this look. :D
I bought an awesome vintage bohemian dress from etsy last year and wear it EVERYWHERE! <3
I love that you're getting into this Doe. :D

A dress like that is a must-have during a hot summer for me, it feels like you’re on vacation even if you’re not!
I think it’s a great look.
Trust me here in Tx, you have to wear something like that it’s to hot, even with me living 4 blocks from the beach. (been in the 100′s i’m melting)
It is a great look especially for the hot summer nights.
I must admit I don’t think I cool off the orange lipstick, but I shall give it a try. I thought I couldn’t pull off Retrofuturist, buy you proved me wrong.
I wore it today and had a few people stop me, and ask me what I was lipstick I was wearing.

Nothing like show-stopping red lips, eh? :)
You look so amazing! I have definitely been drifting towards a more hippy look this summer, and a slightly hippy lifestyle. During the winter everything is sleek and in control, but I want something more free in the summer.
YES!!! It looks lovely on you!
I like this look on you, but at the same time I think it’s a little too cliche.
MBR really suits this look! It somehow looks very natural!

I see what you mean – it could stand to be modernized. Maybe I’ll try next time I take a crack at the boho look.
It’s creepy. You and me have an odd sort of synchronization. We seem to be attracted to the same concepts and ideas at the same. I’ve been obsessing over hippie/boho styles for summer. I was just thinking how lovely it would be to spend my day barefoot in a field of grass, wearing a flowing white dress with flowers in my hair.
lol, you tend to look like how i feel on the inside at any given time.
I do love this look and I would wear it myself…I am also very drawn to the orange lipstick it looks fab!
I love the flower child look myself, and since i’ve started adventuring in the forests with my friends and we’ve been giving eachother cute little hippy names i’ve been wearing flowers in my hair and adopting the hipee fashion with just a bit of added feminine power to it. Its such a free and fun style, as well as being undeniably comfy. I’ve been rocking this look all summer. ^.^
WHERE is that bag from? Its amazing! :)
I love your blog..have been reading and following for a while now but never posted a comment before. You have such great and cute sense of style :)
