Those who know me in real life know that I can be quite impatient: I’m always the one to eat dessert before the main course and open up gifts before Christmas day! Sometimes I’m so eager to experience things, I feel like the world couldn’t spin fast enough.
Two weeks ago I got a basket of green kiwis. I know kiwis are naturally green but these were hard and unripened. Of course, being me, I bit into one immediately and couldn’t believe how sour and awful-tasting it was! And to think only I had a whole basket of these. For days I’d been contemplating putting them in the garbage, until finally, today, I had the courage to give them one last try. To my astonishment, the kiwis had ripened to perfection and were now bursting with sweet flavor!!!
They say that good things happen to those who wait. So true! (I’m just glad I didn’t wait too long or I would’ve ended up with two dozen rotten kiwis in my kitchen.) Some things we love waiting for, other things tend to wear down our patience, and then there are some that are worth waiting for forever. If I were to make a list, mine would look like this:
Worst things to wait for:
- a bus in the winter
- a phone call from a friend when you need their advice ASAP
- a page to download, ahhh!
- your turn at the dentist’s office (!)
- morning when you have insomnia
- a waiter. There is something inherently wrong with waiting on a waiter.
Best things to wait for:
- new issue of Nylon magazine
- stuff to show up in the mail that you got on Etsy
- a fun vacation you’d been planning for weeks
- when your cat comes over to snuggle at night
- Harry Potter movies
- my birthday!
Worth waiting for forever:
- Someone who loves you just the way you are.
Your turn Deerlings! What do you hate, love waiting for and are willing to wait for forever?

I really hate waiting to give people things. It’s easy for me to not open my gifts..but hard for me to shop too early because I want to give everyone their gifts right away.
Right now the best thing I’m waiting for is the baby that has 5 1/2 months left to cook.

I’m glad you tried the kiwis again. Next time, put them in a bag on the counter or table for a few days. They will ripen quicker in a bag. We have to do this every time we buy avocados since it’s not avocado season anymore so all the ones in stores are rock hard.
My Worst things to wait for:
Subway in winter
Car to warm up in winter
Vacation
Waiting for vet calls when a pet is sick
Food when I am really hungry
Traffic lights when I am in a rush
Traffic jams
My Best things to wait for:
My new Vegetarian Times mag showing up in my mailbox each month (food porn!)
Coming home from work to see my bf, 2 kitties and rabbit.
Autumn time (my favorite season)
Vacation
Delish food…especailly when you have a huge craving for it.
My daily kundalini yoga session.
Growing a garden from seeds. So worth the wait when you watch little seeds grow into something you can eat.
Ordering something special online and having it arrive at your door step.

My best friend since we were 5 years old (that’s 20 years!) recently found a present she made for me in 4th grade, but forgot to give to me.
That little clay heart, broken in two with our names on each half was by far worth the 15 year wait. Adorable.

My car was a 20-year-old heap running on faith and duct tape, with no heat or a/c (in Texas!). I had been saving to buy a car for months, and my friend’s mom decided to give me hers instead. It’s so nice to have a working car!

The one thing that is worth the wait is for my boyfriend to overcome his depression. We don’t have the money to get him real help so it’s up to us and my knowledge of herbs and vitamins. After a week, he’s already made leaps and bounds. He actually really smiles and really laughs. He feels more then just worthless and upset. I know he still has a looooong way to go but, I’d wait forever because in the end, I know it is worth it. I want him to be happy and seeing the little times when he really smiles or laughs or says “I love you” and you can see that he is in the moment and feeling it…that’s os worth it.
It should probably be said that I suffered with depression for almost 5 or 6 years without knowing what was wrong. The only reason I knew finally was because a friend said something. I got myself out of depression in a few years because we were poor. I’m happy to wait because the happiness is worth it.

I admire you for sticking with him and helping him with everything you can…my ex cared, but he was terrified of clinical depression and never seemed to make any effort to help. I think it was that he just didn’t know how to deal with it; he was, quite naturally, a very high energy, cheerful person.
that was not why we broke up, but waititng and working to fix depression is definitely worth the wait.

Ooo!
Things I absolutely can’t stand waiting for:
-People to accelerate from lights. I don’t get it, push the gas, go forward and accelerate! At what point does this not make sense?
-Class/Work to be over.
-Waiting in line to check out at the grocery store
-Slow internet loading pages/waiting for software to boot up
Things worth waiting for:
-The holidays to get here! I can’t wait to see my family!
-April to be here, so Paul and I can get our own “first” place together :)
-Waiting for the drive out to my parents to be over and done with. I get so excited when I hit the Wisconsin border and know that in 40 minutes or less, I’ll be with my family, and my horses.
-Waiting for Paul to finish dinner with his newly created recipe :) Always sooo delicous!
-Waiting for one of my fosters to find their perfect forever home <3

I hate waiting to give people gifts. For Christmas I had got my husband a gold pocket watch with his initials engraved and I desperately wanted to give it to him because I wanted to see how happy he would be. So, the weeks before Christmas I kept giving him hints or that if he wanted to know what I got him then to look in the hat box in the closet. He is patient though, and never peeked and would shut me up whenever I tried to hint. Of course, I also peeked and rattled boxes when it came to my own gifts!

I do the same thing when giving gifts! I get so excited to give them that even last year, the day BEFORE Christmas, I couldn’t wait any longer and MADE my boyfriend open up all his presents. I love giving people presents I know they’re going to love. It brings me so much GLEE!

I had the same reaction – I bought my issue for my plane ride back from Disney World (Florida) last week and throughout endless turbulence, ear-drum popping, snoring next to me, and a kid kicking my seat, the only thing that cheered me up was opening up my Nylon and seeing Lime Crime lipsticks! Total GLEE in the sky!

Things I Hate Waiting For:
-The Bus. You wait an hour…
-The rain to stop. JUST BE HEAVY RAIN AND GET IT DONE WITH!
-The kettle to finish boiling. There’s STEAM coming out of you. Your water has been BUBBLING for a full minute. You’re BOILED. Get over yourself.
-Payday. All Noodles and No Cake makes Jack a Dull Boy.
-My favourite blogs to update. But Doe, I find you lovely and prompt. <3
Things I Still Hate Waiting For, But Know It'll Be Worth It:
-My Birthday and Christmas.
-For my Little Cousin to get well again.
-Getting Engaged…I hope?
-Days when I can see my friends.
-New collections of Dresses on my favourite sites!
-Longer days, warmer nights.
-My go on the rollercoaster!

Worst things to wait for:
-Exams/Tests results!
-Break at school
-Things to print.
-Calls and/or texts
-Exam/Test day!
-Nail polish to dry
-The time you did in the pool!

The worst thing to wait for in my oppinion are tests and growing hair out! There is engough anxiety as it is studying and preparing for them, the last thing I want to do is wait any longer. Hair is also such a pain to grow. For all of my highschool years I had short hair and now I would like to try having long hair again.
The best thing to wait for is the summer. The summer means fun, carefree, warm days that lead up to my birthday in August.
And finaly the thing that I am most willing to wait for is someone to love me. I am 18 and have never had a boy friend, I have helped my friends go through their relationships but have yet to experience one myself. Something becuase of this I question myself and wonder what I could possibly be doing wrong… But I am willing to wait, becuase ‘Good things come to those who wait.’

Definitely agree with your lists. Busses in winter = so not fun to wait for, and I definitely don’t mind waiting for things in the mail. Currently, what I am waiting for is the week to go by(because the weekends can never come soon enough for me!), and even tougher is the guy I like.. we’ve been seeing each other for a while, and I’m hoping we will be making it official soon(AT LEAST before Christmas! lol)

Developing a photo in the dark room! Sticking it in the developer, stop bath, fixer and wash…it feels like forever but the gorgeous picture (hopefully, haha) at the end is worth the wait!
Also, waiting in the airport of a foreign country! Most people hate airport lines, but for me, it just means I’m going home later.

hate = right now i’m the only person in my family with a car. so i have to cart everyone else around. i don’t mind doing it. i love to help people but what i do hate is waiting forever for them when they know i am coming to get them to take them somewhere >_<
wait forever/love = my boyfriend and i have been together for 7 awesome years. he doesn't believe in marriage but i want to get married. i don't want to find anyone else even if they were willing to marry me because i know he is my soulmate. so i would wait forever for him to ask even if it never happened, knowing that he is there anyways ^_^

I am such an impatient person. I’m not sure there is anything I like waiting for. haha
Things I hate waiting on:
-long lines at lunch. It’s especially frustrating when you only have 20 minutes between work and a 3.5 hour class.
-this semester to be OVER. I want to graduate! I’m graduating early and I’m still impatient. And half of my grad school applications will be out by then.
-finishing grad school applications. I want all of them done. It’s almost enough to make me want to say screw it.
-test grades. Seriously. I took the test. Now give it back to me the next class.
-warm weather. It can’t come soon enough!
I’m impatiently waiting for my boyfriend to realize he can’t live without me and to hurry up and propose already. I even come with my own ring! (my mom’s/grandmother’s) I’m confident he’ll figure it out eventually. Everyone else already has. For now, I just taunt him with panties that say “HINT HINT” next to a diamond ring.

I HATE waiting for my shift at work or my breaktime to come, and I especially hate having to wait for payday. And I hate having to wait in line at a grocery store with only a few things to buy and only one register open. Then occasionally if other customers are nice and notice the girl with only a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread, they’ll let me cut ahead of them, but I feel bad about it because they’re still waiting with their huge loads.
