Mosh’s Mossy Greens

This Friday we have a guest look by Mosh, which is a collaboration between her and the photographer Redrum. Everybody knows Mosh is a spectacular model, but did you know she is also a skilled makeup artist?

Model: Mosh | Photography: Redrum | Makeup: Lime Crime

INGREDIENTS
- Eyeshadows: Princess Caraboo, Snow Queen, Nymph, Mermaid, Enchant
- Eyes: Black liquid liner, Black mascara, Lashes, Eyeshadow Primer.
- Lips: Nymph mixed with a clear gloss.
- Face: foundation, concealer, tan-orange blush

Eyes
Apply primer to create a crease-free and smooth base for the eyeshadows. Once the primer is set, apply Nymph all over eye (cover up to the eyebrows and down to the bottom lash line). Applying a lighter shadow as base will create for a more subdued color effect and make blending easier. Use a thinner brush to apply Snow Queen on the brow bone as a highlighter. Use enough to saturate the area with a slight mint green tint!
With the medium sized brush apply Princess Caraboo to the inner corners of your eyes and slightly out towards the outer corners. Use the same brush to apply Mermaid on the outer corner, then blend into Princess Caraboo for a smooth color change. Also apply Mermaid on the lower lash line. With a fine brush, dip the tip into water and then pick up some Mermaid pigments for a more opaque look, line your lower lash line. Go back over the crease in the outer corner with Enchant (dark green, almost black).
Use the black liquid liner to line your eye. With a bushy brush, lightly dip the tip into Princess Caraboo. Tap this brush over top your lower lash line area in the outer corner to achieve the speckled effect. Be careful to not pick up too much of the pigments as you don’t want a big clump of color to attach itself to your eye, you want an even and fine peppered effect.
Face
I have been using Laura Mercier’s oil-free foundation in Porcelain Ivory and Stila’s perfecting concealer in shade AA or B. Set the foundation with a powder, I use either MAC’s select sheer in NC5 or L’Oreal Loose Powder. Apply blush to cheekbones.
Lips
Pick up some Nymph pigments and mix them into a glob of a clear gloss with a lip brush. Make sure you mix well! You want a creamy and smooth concoction. My suggestions for a clear gloss are either N.Y.C.’s Kiss Gloss in Cool Mint (Clear), or MAC’s Clear Lipglass.

Thank you Mosh for offering such a wonderful tutorial – you’re a doll!

I also thought it looked messy. Mostly underneath her eye.

To those who thinks it looks a bit messy – thats because Mosh wanted the eyeshadow speckled under her eyes, its part of the look!
True, her left eye (our right when looking at the photo) looks prettier (more artful sprinkling of shadow), but everyone does one eye better then the other!

Of course messy was part of the look! :) Personally, I love it because it’s something I never thought of!

I think it looks stunning when looking at her with the eyes open, but when the eye is closed and you can see the detail, then it looks messy. It looks gorgeous with the eyes open though.

Just a little FYI:
The make-up was actually shot AFTER an entire photoset was done and the make-up had been on for awhile. And note: this girl flips herself upside down and folds herself in half, and she even sort of rolled around on the floor with a crinoline skirt all up in her face while modeling… so considering those facts, this make-up is AMAZING. It even stayed put for the most part.
And for all of you anti-messy folk we say this…
Booooorrrriiiing.
:o)
xoxo. RR.
