Like so many of the women up there, I identify as a mutt. My mother would always joke to me about how the entire globe is within our family. I, however, just look WHITE. Which is a problem when I tell people that my mother is Jamaican (she was born and raised in Jamaica, as was her mother and grandmother). For some reason, people think that if you’re Jamaican you have to be black and rastafarian, and they can’t seem to accept that there most certainly is a white population in the country.

Also, I’m the youngest of five children from my mother, but three of them are half-siblings (plus another half- from my dad). The one that is my full sibling, however, has darker olive-toned skin and almond eyes. We have similar facial structures, but all people can see are the more obvious differences and so they assume that one or both of us were adopted, or if we’re out together they assume that we’re merely dating. It’s beyond annoying.

Not saying I’m innocent, of course. I admit to half-believing cultural stereotype at times. It’s hard when you haven’t really come into contact with a culture, so you don’t know what to believe. I do, however, try to keep an open mind. When I meet someone from a foreign country, I tend to ask a lot of questions, which I now realize(thanks to this article) may be annoying to these people who have answered the same questions millions of times before.

I know this is old but I find it so funny because the only thing I could relate to is wanting a good life and not hiding it! And yes you do get criticized and get called “spoiled” when the only thing you want is shoes that won’t cause blisters and aren’t from walmart (because those cause sores). I really do have a bad past, a lot to hide, and my family has barely any money :P

I am an irish girl. My dad was the only one of his siblings to be born in Boston. The rest of my family were born in Bohola. A tiny town in county mayo on the western coast. People either think I look really irish, or for some reason german. When I say I’m irish, they ask me why I’m not a red head because I’m really, really blonde. I have yet to meet a ginger irish person. People from my region are celtic (blonde) or black irish (dark hair, pale skin). I’m not lazy abusive drunk either. In Dorchester, i have been called a mick and a paddy many times. Despite all of that, I don’t care, people who are ignorant just look stupid, and people who are racist look even dumber.

I would like to add that I love Russia, its my favourite country because of the history and I just think its beautiful, I would love to be Russian and I have never even thought of stereotypes for Russian people. I would love to be Russian, and I love Russian people.
