Tales of the Unicorn Queen

Inside Doe Deere's purse

Category Unicorn Queen

Women carry all things imaginable in their purses: lipstick, tweezers, compacts, condoms! Today, I decided to examine the contents of my bag and rate their necessity on the scale of 1 to 10 – 10 being most useful, and 1 being the least.

Another picture of my bag

{1} Cell phone + headphones: 9

Cell phones are like back-up systems for our brain. :) My new cell also functions as an MP3 player (no more bulky iPod!) and is a major room-saver. I like to listen to music when I’m on the train, so it’s a must-have when I leave the house. I’ve even used its dark screen as a make-shift mirror once!

{2} Fingerless gloves: 6

‘Karl Lagerfeld’ style gloves by Bebe, a gift from my friend Ally. :) They keep my hands warm while allowing me to fumble with my wallet, buttons, and belts.

{3} Wallet: 10

I love my black/pink Isaac Mizrahi wallet, it’s probably the best and most functional wallet I’ve ever had. It allows me to carry all my cards, cash & even has a change pocket (I have a weird fascination with coins, I’m probably part leprechaun or something, haha).

{4} Keys: 10

To my house, car, and my mom’s apartment. If I lose them, I’ll be in a lot of trouble!

{5} Pixie Dust powder from my makeup line: 8

I always have it on me and use it every time I go out. Excellent de-shiner.

{6} Brush to apply the powder: 5

I love being able to go into the girls room and ‘powder my nose’ properly. But carrying around a brush is probably not the most practical thing to do; it’s something you keep at home on your makeup table. I suppose I could apply the powder with my finger? Or get a compact? Until I resolve that issue, the brush stays. :)

{7} Mini mirror: 11!!!

I love love love this mirror and use it all the time! When I’m running late and have to do my makeup on the train, nothing is more useful than my little friend here. :)

{8} Wedding band: 4

Generally I don’t wear rings – they get caught on clothes, slip upside down, require too much attention. My wedding band, I only put on when I ‘need’ it – to show that I’m not interested, basically. :)

{9} Mini vibrator: 5

Haha, you never know when you’re gonna need one! ;) I got this in a gift bag at the Playgirl party; it’s shaped like a lipstick.

{10} Lip gloss in a dramatic shade: 7

I like to carry one around just in case I need to glam up my look on the go. Red or hot pink are my usual choices.

{11} Business cards: 8

Yes, the Doe Deere Blogazine business cards! I give them out to everyone I meet and to random pretty girls on the street. ;) Seeing how this has pretty much become my business, I like to have a few on my hands.

{12} Hand sanitizer: a solid, germ-free 5

I’m not a mysophobe (fear of germs) but do like to keep my hands clean – especially in the fall/winter. I skated on the flu shots the past couple years and never got sick just by washing my hands.

{13} Rose-flavored breath mints: 1

How cool does that sound, rose-flavored breath mints? I love these , but have a suspicion I eat them just as candy. ;) Perhaps a sugar-free gum would be a better idea. Necessity: 1, but yum!

{14} Lip balm: 100!!!

I am addicted – addicted! – to chapstick and cannot survive without it. I must have a tube on me at all times and freak out if I forget it. There were times I was late to appointments because I’d forgotten my chapstick and had to go to a pharmacy to buy it. I’ve been known to wake up in the middle of night just to put some on. :) Yes, pretty crazy.

{15} Pink Parker pen: 8

Parker pens are historical. I was ecstatic when I found one in pink! I use it to jot down info and write love notes to beautiful strangers in the subway. :)

{16} Journal: 6

My amazing Jazz Age journal is full of eccentric ideas, poetry and secrets, scribbled down in glitter ink. I feel sad when an idea hits me and I can’t write it down in my journal, but if it does happen I can always use my cell.

Deerlings: whats’ inside your purse? Post links to pictures if possible!

Deer Doe :D
I just wanted to say that I really love this entry! :) I’m really curious when it comes to other women’s bags. ;D I actually don’t really have certain things that are always in my purse or school bag, but your entry was certainly an inspiration. The mini vibrator’s really quite funny, being carried around in a purse. :D

Greetings

Why is it that the contents of other people’s purses always look so much more interesting and exotic? I love this post.

Oh and because I know you’re a fan (and contributor) of the Karl Lagerfeld blog I had to share this little picture I made for me and my friend Mary. We have them taped to our computers at work so that Karl is always watching over us and preventing us from being demode. We’re obsessed with that darn blog!

Good to see I’m not the only one who carries a lot with her! My Internet connection’s being too slow to upload a photo at the moment, but I usually carry around the following:

* Nokia e90 – with an unlimited data contract, my absolute lifeline, I can get on the Internet anywhere I need to!
* Pink and purple Tula wallet containing far too many cards and currently a lot of old receipts and small change.
* M.A.C. Studio Fix foundation powder in NW20
* Fingerless gloves as I have terrible circulation in my hands so they keep them warm in the office whilst enabling me to type.
* Red Parker fountain pen – I love writing with a proper pen
* Two large pink Moleskine Volant notebooks, one for miscellaneous notes, the other dedicated to planning blog articles.
* A pink polka-dot umbrella, because I live in England.
* Carmex lip balm
* Door keys
* Small red Moleskine week per view diary and notebook twinset
* Several ballpoint pens, mostly from law firms
* M.A.C. MV2 fragrence
* Vitamins
* Ibuprofen
* Some kind of reading material, currently a brilliant zine entitled List #12

I may well do a more detailled post on my blog at some point, with photos. I rather enjoy finding out what everyone else carries around with them!

• Kirsti says:

Well here’s the pic I made:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/Kirsti2209/handbag.png

1. My mobile phone, I have unlimited texts every month and I NEED this. My charger is broken meaning to charge it, I have to plug it into the computer overnight, and this causes me great distress just to not have it by my side even when I’m sleeping.

2. My purse, I have like 11 cards plus a tonne of coupons that people hand out. I can’t live without Caffe Nero, and I have my loyalty cards to get free coffees.

3. My letter K keyring which my friend brought back from Disneyland haha. I need my keys, I constantly lock myself out though.

4. I carry a small silver, bullet shaped atomiser full of Chanel Mademoiselle at all times. I used to use Chanel No. 5, but when this fragrance was released last year I fell in love instantly.

5. My lovely lovely powder compact with a mirror inside. I too love to powder my nose, as it gets shiny throughout the day being a teenager :( so this is my life saver.

6. My pink ipod mini. I got this from eBay for twenty quid and I cannot live without it. I take it everywhere I go, and it’s so old and kinda vintagey/retro that I can’t bear to move onto one of the newer models.

7. Anti bacteria gel. I hate germs. With a passion. It’s my little OCD obsession. I have bottles of this stuff EVERYWHERE: my bag, my bedside dresser, my bathroom, my school locker, my mum’s car and I also have one bottle at each of my friends’ houses. I need it.

Well that’s all really :)

• Jessica says:

I usually don’t carry much in my purse, although I’ve just assumed that it’s because my purse is so small. xD I’ve been looking around for a new one though! Anyway, I usually just keep the basics with me:

http://www.omgimages.net/img/2581/64612.jpg
- wallet (self explanatory, really.)
- keys (the little wolf puppy on it helps me grab onto them easier when they’ve been shoved into the bottom of my school bag. He looks like he needs to be washed soon, though. Haha I’ll do that this weekend.)
- cell phone (usually only in my purse when I wear skirts/dresses. Otherwise it’s in my pocket. I usually leave it on vibrate, so if it’s not close by I would never receive my calls/texts on time xD)
- iPod (Not only do I use this for music, but it plays the role of my organiser as well. And sometimes, if I find a wifi spot, I can use it to get directions because I almost always manage to get myself hopelessly lost. I’ve been learning to enter directions into it before leaving the house though, which has helped….sometimes.)
- hand lotion (my hands get so incredibly dry, especially during the winter)
- lip balm (for the same reasons I carry and lotion around, except for my mouth)
- mirror (that’s the little pink monkey head xD There’s actually two mirrors in it, a normal one and a magnifying one. Very useful for clearing up eye makeup smudgies.)

And I left out my pen, and I usually also have a pack of mints/gum on me. And a pad/tampon. Just in case ;)

• Jackie says:

i’m trying to get over it, but i have a phobia of purse shopping!
how do i know if it looks good on me, or good with clothes i may or may not buy in the future? too man things to think about.
i just shove everything in my pockets, which usually gets me in trouble. stupid women pockets not made to carry anything!

• Bridey says:

I am exactly the same about chapstick. If mine is missing I put everyone on red alert and have to adopt deep breathing until I’ve found it again!

The worst is when you first realise it’s missing, and suddenly your lips feel super dry and you’re in a situation where you can’t immediately buy another. I guess I’m a bit crazy like that too!

I loved this blog. I go on Flickr from time to time to look at what’s in peoples purses. It’s a fascination of mine for some reason.

1. “The Painted Bird” by Jerzy Kosinski, I always have to have a book with me!
2. Two little Ugly Dolls notebooks for random things I need to write down
3. Planner
4. Jo Malone samples, MAC lip conditioner, mascara and eyeliner and a pen
5. Hello Kitty pouch for small things that usually fall to the bottom of my purse
6. Atlanta Aquarium map (I was in Atlanta when I took this photo)
7. Fossil wallet
8. Silver cigarette case that I love!
9. Pandaapple mirror, super cute and very functional
10. Deodorant… not much to explain here
11. Keys
12. Gum!
13. Tissues for my often stuffy nose
14. On the go brush for my thick and untamed hair
15. Nail buffer, makes my nails super shiny!
16. Cigarettes, not my usual brand but none the less, this is my vise :(
17. Camera case… Camera was obviously in my hand, heh
18. Last but not least, huge red bag!

no picture buuuut . . . a list will do right?

in the order I pull them out fo my GIGANTIC old Navy purse.

1) Pink and brown Estee Lauder makeup bag, full of well, make up!

2) Small reddish/brown shiny brush compact. holds 4 tiny brushes and a palette of 4 eye shadows and a blush. Handy when the basics in my makeup bag don’t glam me up enough.

3) A box of tampons . . . well, I am a girl!

4) Wallet. Black with a cupcake on it. full of cards . . . and around 7 cents.

5) Two really old water bottles. I have to throw them out.

6) L’oreal vive pro nutri-gloss sample packets of shampoo and conditioner.

7) A deck of cards.

8) Hand sanitizer!

9) Breth freshener strips . . . just in case.

10) Secret Platinum antiperspirant . . . cuz I hate to stink.

11) Directions to a health unit in the next town over where I did some volunteering a few weeks back. I guess you could call me a free lance makeup artist.

12) Lip balm . . . I HATE having dry lips!

13) Wet Naps, clean up my hands after a meal out.

14) Estee Lauder lipstick in Rose Tea. Lovely stuff!

15) Translucent powder compact to banish the shiny nose that haunts me mid-day!

16) Hair elastics: I have long blond hair, I like to keep it out of my face when I am doing stuff like eating.

17) Cheques to my business bank account . . . I have yet to file them away.

18) Compact of lipsticks, tiny tiny pots of lipsticks my mom got me YEARS ago. Great when I want a nice splash of color, something more than the Rose Tea which is close to a nude.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that’s all folks!

• jen says:

You cracked me up with the vibrator. hahaha

You’re not alone in your balm addiction. There are a LOT of us out there. I can’t do Chapstick or just regular balm, though (unless it’s Rosebud Salve or Fresh Sugar, which I love). I usually have to have GLOSS. I carry anywhere between 10 and 20 with me in my purse on any given day – you never know which color or texture you might be in the mood for at any given time!!!

I also keep in my purse whatever my current fragrance addiction is. Right now, it is Wellness by Clean – Harmony; it is the most wonderful smell, next to their Warm Cotton scent. I also have to keep a bottle of Excedrin Migraine and a tube of Head-On on-hand at all times too, unfortunately (and Clean perfumes are good for helping dissolve a headache too). And Beano because I’m a vegetarian…enough said. ;)

Oh, and I also HAVE to have a bobbypin and one hair elastic on me at ALL TIMES. HAVE to. I lost my bobbypin at some point today and am forcing myself not to think about it. Kind of like how the one poster said as soon as you realize you don’t have your Chapstick, your lips are suddenly super dry…and right now my bangs are driving me crazy and I have no way to pin them back.

I’m ordering the Pixie Dust on Friday when my paycheck goes through – I can’t wait to try it!

• Johanna says:

You should get one of those retractable travel brushes! I know Sephora has one.

When I emptied my old bag a couple of years ago after getting a new one I found among other things several bags of instant porridge and a moose or deer vertebrae.

• Rae says:

I had the same issue with carrying around a powder AND brush for touch ups, then I stumbled upon Beauty on the Go by Bare Escentuals: http://www.bareescentuals.com/
It’s perfect and itty bitty, so no more wasted space in my precious hand bag! It’s in the brushes and tools section of their online store.

• cuileann says:

Hah! :) I wouldn’t be surprised if you were part leprechaun…

Journal, phone, mechanical pencil, powder compact, chapstick, student ID card (opens the doors to food and shelter!) bobby pins, hair elastics, and whatever book I’m reading at the moment.

• Anjelica says:

I quite possibly have the most random purse contents. My purse is so messy, it’s impossible to find anything.

1) A copy of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451″ – a book I’m reading for English.
2) A copy of Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita” – another book for English
3) A pack of gum with only one piece left
4) A water bottle.
5) Glasses w/case
6) A c
opy of Laurell K. Hamilton’s “Incubus Dreams” – just a casual reading book
7) A pair of socks
8) And empty reed case (I play clarinet)
9) A Hall Pass from a few weeks ago
10) My student ID card
11) 10 pens
12) 3 markers
13) 2 highlighters
14) 1 pencil
15) My digital camera
16) My Invisalign braces case
17) An eraser
17) My iPod
18) A bag of toffee bites
19) A receipt of some sort
20) Deodorant
21) A double flavor Jolly Rancher candy

Like I said, it’s pretty interesting in there.

• Eyeliah says:

This is my fave kind of post! And it’s my favorite purse. It’s a collage purse of little lovey dovey pics.

1. Keys — My favorite key chain from a friend in high school “You laugh because I’m different, I laugh because you’re ugly.” Not the nicest thing, but when you’re the oddball in school — it works.

2. The only sunglasses I haven’t broken this year.

3. Wallet

4. My two favorite pens and a bright pink marker, cuz you never know when you’ll need to tag your best friend’s hand with a heart when she’s having a bad day.

5. My pink unicorn journal. Inspiration usually strikes me at random times, so I need it with me.

6. Cold medicine from a few weeks ago.

7. My favorite Tropical Twist gum, it’s mangolicious.

8. My earphones and charger for my iPhone. I have a boring job, so I spend a lot of time on my phone, I have to charge it once or twice at work.

9. My iPhone

10. Bobby pins. For my crazy hair.

11. Single-serving super glue. You never know when you’ll need it. This is probably the oddest thing in my bag.

12. Bright red nailpolish left over from Halloween.

13. My assortment of lip glosses, some call me an addict, I call myself a lip gloss connoisseur.

14. On the go curl spray for my hair.

15. My vitamin carrier.

16. Living Dead in Dallas — this is the follow up book to Dead until Dark. True Blood is based off of this. I bought this book this weekend and have been unusually busy at work, so I haven’t started it yet.

17. Island Lime lotion by Old Navy.

18. My vitamin drink mix.

• kagitsune says:

Ooh, I bring a journal around everywhere, too! It’s a tiny Sanrio Kuromi (think evil Hello Kitty) memo pad, but it works really well. And yeah, I just type stuff in a text message and save it as a “draft” if I’m in a pinch. ^^

• [...] Deere carries some cool stuff in her bag, [...]

• Doe Deere says:

I didn’t expect this to happen, but seeing everyone’s purse contents is making me the gleeful-est, ever! In an almost voyeuristic kind of way. :D

♣ Johanna
Hahaha! I love this: SEVERAL packages of instant porrige AND a deer vertebrae! Yeah, try to top that!

♣ Jenn
You officially have the most items stuffed in your bag: 18! By the way, I have the same gum – the tropical flavor is my favoritest, ever! In fact, let me chew on some right now. Nom, nom.

• Lauren says:

I won’t list my entire bag contents because y’all would be here forever but I actually am known among friends for being the girl that has -everything-. I pack it into these tiny bags and get to feel like a magician whisking it out! I also am the girl to take a bag everywhere so I end up holding onto various sets of keys, lipglosses and phones. The problem is my handbags are rather dull, I should really find some nicer ones seeing as I spend all day with them!

Anyway, staples include:

- a bottle of water (hydration is fun boys and girls and I like to drink my home rainwater whilst out and about)

- safety pins (these have saved my butt so many times, whether to reset a misbehaving mp3 player or a strap that broke, they’re golden)

- bandaids (not a big fan of blood, but also very handy for blisters!)

- nail file (not for aesthetic reasons really, more for when you break a nail and the jagged edge catches on everything)

- hand cream in a tiny tube (it’s a save all when it comes to times of desperate moisturisation)

*giggles* This is the cutest post ever, because a girl’s purse is always a mysterious thing.

• kat says:

4)my zebra wallet (in case you can’t tell i love animal print)
4)my zune
5)the latest book i’m reading (macbeth right now)
6)my smokes

Ahhh I got stupidly excited when I saw your Parker pen! I’m a Parker whore, I have the same pen and the fountain pen in pink, I only write in Parker fountain pens. Though I was devastated last month when I realised I lost my lilac Parker with TweetyPie on it which I’d owned for 15 years. It was legend.

As for my bag? The main things,

- Two MP3′s (Need a back up incase of low battery)
- Red Dior Lipstick
- Skull and Crossbones Mirror
- Phone
- Nightmare Before Christmas Wallet (Burton Love!)
- Skull Business Card Holder with cards
- Home and Car Keys
- Digital Camera (Always need a camera on me)

• Stephanie says:

I’m a high school student, so I usually lug around a heavy backpack five days a week, filled with all sorts of stuff. Aside from school stuff (like pens and notebooks and textbooks), here are the contents:

- water bottle (I HATE water fountains)
- tinted lip balm (I have ghost lips, that’s why)
- all-purpose lotion
- sunblock (which I never use, shame on me. I just hate the feeling of sunblock though)
- keys
- cell phone (it’s PURPLE!)
- ipod
- food (I’m constantly hungry)
- money

My car and house keys on green springy keychain

Notebook for when I need to write something down

Several types of pens to match my mood

Several types of lip balms- I also CANNOT survive without one. I always have to have a few on me. My lips will crack within hours without it and I take no chances being stuck without it.

A random green coffin that used to have tart candy in the shapes of bones that you connected together to make a skeleton. He was yummy!

Salon voucher book I get discounts on my appointments with

My ID badge for work

My birth control and instructions for if I miss one

Hand sanitizer

Floss

Listerine pocketpack

alcohol wipe- don’t know why

Micro-SD card converter

Hairties

Spare electronic lock opener for my car. Oh man, has this saved me so many times!

Oh yes, and my phone which is not pictured, a Palm Centro. Such a lifesaver!

I also used to have a makeup bag but it migrated out of my purse a long time ago and I haven’t put it back in.

• Kellee says:

I would totally keep a mini vibrator in my purse if I had one. I’ve actually been wanting a “lipstick” one jsut for the purpose of keeping it in my purse. lol Is that weird? haha.

Here is my list(since a photo is not possible at the time).. jsut a warning, I think there is a lot.

In side pocket one:
~A tin of random single gums. I don’t like to keep packs if they only have one or two left, so I collect all those last bitty ones together.
~An old “Godiva chocoiste” tin, with a fake cigarette in it.. Yeah, I don’t know.
~A bunch of Cyndi Lauper buttons. I had them on the purse, but they kept falling off(not fun), and I didn’t want to lose them.. kept forgetting to take them out.

Other side pocket:
~MP3 player. Obviously a necessity.
~My awesome Tinkerbell key on my Rum Tum Tugger keyring.<3

Rest of the stuff..
~Hand sanitizer.
~Two lollipops<3 For that random candy urge.
~Mini pack of Kleenex.
~Lip balm, in my orange lipstick case.
~Wallet. Full of tons of stuff. Not so much money though. :S
~List of things to buy from work for Christmas presents! Yay. Money spendage.
~This one I’m ashamed to say, because you don’t like Domino’s.. lol But I’ve got a Domino’s delivery menu in there too..
~Pen with my name spelled incorrectly on it, from my friend(not her fault, they didn’t have my spelling)
~Mary Kay Satin Hands hand cream, sample/purse size.
~Tylenol
~My awesome box cutter from work, that I always forget to take out on weekends.
~Receipts, another list, expired Subway coupons, pay stub from work from 2 weeks ago.
~My election registration paper from October 14th…
~Two 5$ coupon cards for Mike’s restaurant.
~A picture of a tattoo I want(that I probably wont get for a while), bus info, a moist towelette.

And then….
~A long silver ribbon I snagged from work, because it was supposed to go in hte garbage, but it was too cute.
~Avon Super Full mascara.
~Roll on perfume that smells like turkish delight(though I don’t think it’s supposed to)
~Foldable, flip out hair brush with mirror. Part of what I call my “beauty kit”
~Extra-Lyptus Halls.. imported from Mexico.
~More gum. Ice Breakers Ice Cubes, to be exact. Kiwi Watermelon. Mmm.
~Fancy nail file in case.
~Face blotting sheets. In case I have to fight the shine and have no access to a compact.
~Mini holiday lip gloss set from Avon. :) So cute.
~(3)Hand lotion samples.
~Collagen boost from Sally Hansen.
~Flip mirror.
~Hot chocolate lip gloss.
~Revlon Sugar Sugar lip topping in Snowflake, and Sprinkled Pink.
~Blistex lip ointment from when I had a cold sore.
~Sally Hansen Lip Inflation(I have thin lips..)

I’m a grad student and that explains a lot of the following. I also don’t have a make-up bag. But that’s a story for another day!

11. Manila envelope full of school papers.
12. Murphy Bonfanelli. Our devious little furball who likes to play fetch. Doesn’t actually fit it tote.

It’s a lot and yet somehow it all fits in that tiny bag.
I desperately need a pretty but practical bag that doesn’t mess up my back. Any suggestions?

I couldn’t imagine how I would react if I got a Doe Deere love letter at the subway!

OK, you’re not alone with the chapstick obsession. I have one next to me at the computer, on my nightstand, on the coffee table in the living room, on top of the microwave in the kitchen, of course in my purse, and one in my drawer at work! That’s how I’m never without! =) I’m sure i probably have one in my coat pocket as well, but I haven’t used that yet…

I carry my wallet, keys, and my little “necessity bag” which has a few travel sized makeup items like concealer, a mini shadow palette and brush, hand sanitizer, a tampon, and my medication in case i ever get stuck somewhere without it.

• Kristi says:

I love the contents of other people’s bags.

Usually:

1) Marc Jacobs Wallet

And if I had them I would add
16) The newest ITOUCH instead of my nano
17) JimmyJane’s Platinum Vibrator

That’s alll and I usually carry all this in a tote of some sort, usually imitations to the Vera Bradley totes, or in a small plaid tote with all the essentials

Oh yeah;

16) Tampons
17) MiDOl and Ibprophen

• Megan J. says:

I’ve been reading your blog for a short time now and have been really enjoying it, so I wanted to take part and comment:)

I carry around a very large purse, a tapestry bag I picked up some years ago from a Kirkland’s. LOVE IT, and apparently so does my boyfriend since I also find myself carrying around some of his stuff, too. He’s nicknamed me his “pack-mule”…lovingly, I’m sure. *rolls eyes and grins*

So first I I’m showing the contents of my purse and then the contents of another bag I keep inside of my purse, which I refer to as my ‘emergency bag’.

Purse:
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/AutumnChilde/Cosmetics/Mypurse2008.jpg

1. my emergency bag…pic. of it’s contents to follow.
2.& 3. are notebooks I keep in my purse. The brightly colored one was a gift from a friend of mine and as a mask-artist I tend to feverishly jot down all sorts of ideas and sketches I may have throughout my day.
The top notebook is newer one I’ve recently bought I use it for more mundane things…book titles, directions, phone numbers, etc.
4. My keychain, consisting of a small flashlight, a pewter Fairy, small purple pen, some keys, and various member cards to grocery stores.
5. My wrist watch…for some reason I don’t like wearing it anymore, not comfortable or something. But it’s come in handy keeping it in purse.
6. My tinkerbell change purse. It’s got a pocket on the otherside where I keep various little bits of paper as well as my business cards.
7. My little photo-wallet. I like to keep pics. of my boyfriend, kitty, and family members nearby.
8. A two-year calendar. Got lectured by a nurse at my Gyno.’s that I should always keep a calendar in my purse to keep track of my period and other things. So, I do and it has come in handy for lots of things.
9. My hands dry out alot, so I like to keep a small bottle of HEMP lotion nearby. I have a large bottle at home that I just keep refilling it with. Pretty nice:)
10. My Ipod-Shuffle. I have larger headphones and don’t tend to keep them in my purse. I like to hook up my Ipod in the car from time to time. I only keep my headphones in my purse when I’m headed to work. I’m so afraid of breaking them, but I had earbuds…ugh!:(
11. Sweetberry gum by Stride.
12. Diamond Brilliance lip gloss by wet’n'wild. So pretty!
13.Love my chewy SweetTarts!!
14. Pomegranite flavored lip balm by mary-kateandashley. It’s delicious!
15. My embossed leather wallet. I bought it at a Renaissance festival. It’s supposed to be a check-book cover, but I bought those plastic wallet inserts and made it into my wallet. It’s got a tree motif embossed on the cover. Love it!:D
16. my check book…won’t fit into my wallet with everything else:(
17. And lastly, my purple pen. Purple is one of my three fave colors and I’ve been enjoying purple ink for a little while now.:)

Now, my emergency bag:
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/AutumnChilde/Cosmetics/myemergencybag.jpg

1. Two pads. I always forget to restock later, so two is to make sure I’m not caught empty-handed while out and about. Plus, if someone else needs it, I have an extra!:D
2. My Wal-Mart bought Johnson&Johnson first aid kit. Believe it or not, this thing has come in handy a time or two!
3. Ibuprofen!!
4. pocket knife. It’s been very useful for many things. Glad I have it:D
5. my silver sharpie…never know when you might need it.
6. mint toothpick/floss thingy…need to add the second one. These are so nice to have on hand after I’ve been out to eat and am not headed home for a while.
7. An Ibuprofen packet I snagged from work.
8. Antibacterial wet-wipes. Oddly enough, my boyfriend and a friend of mine(who has a kid) have used these more than I have.
9. TUMS….everyone should have these.
10. GermX…what does that say about our society that nearly every woman has a bottle of antibacterial hand lotion in her purse?
11. chap stick
12. two-toned lipstick: Venus by Lor’eal.

And that’s it!:)

I only found your blog recently, looovvveee your entries to bits, and now I am HOOKED :)

I carry my brush around too! Compacts are icky (i hate sponges) and fingers are dirtier than brushes, so brush it is.

Love from Singapore!

Great idea! I love seeing what people carry around with them. I was inspired by yours so I did my own. That is what I carry in my bag!

• Brat says:

What an excellent excuse to clear out my bag :) In order of appearance as I tip them out, the contents of my bag are;

1. Half a packet of Extra chewing gum. I’m not a big gum chewer, but I quite smoking a few weeks ago and figured this might help! It turns out I didn’t really need it. I’ve managed without so far!

2. Two empty bottles of Dr. Pepper. I drink at least a bottle of this every day. It’s a disgusting habbit but I’m a breakfast skipper because I’m usually in a rush, so I’ll guzzle a bottle of this to stop my blood sugar levels from dipping too low.

3. A pile of screwed up papers including, plain sketch paper that I never used, three bus tickets, a train ticket, a Boots voucher and the paperwork for a storecard I took out the other day. I’m terrible for leaving rubbish like this lurking in the bottom of my bag for months!

4. A bag of elastic hairbands. I always need one and these are great because it’s a huge pack and I can just throw them away when I’m done with them. Also being a dancer it’s always guranteed that someone will need one and this way I can just hand them out.

5. A copied CD with no label… I suspect it might be some backing tracks…

6. My rail card! 1/3 of my train travel, I couldn’t live without it.

7. My purse! It’s shameful, I’ve had it for three/four years now and it’s really showing its wear and tear. It was originally a white patent one with lots of slots for my cards and a big zipper part for me to put my coins – £3.90 at this very moment :) but now it’s all peeling and unsightful. Perhaps I will ask for a new one for Christmas!

8. A self heating hand warmer! These things are genius. This one is used, but it’s a gel pack and you click a button inside it and it heats itself up. Great for me as I feel the cold terribly.

9. A selection of different hair clips. I have kirby grips, slides and a bulldog clip for when I get hot during my bar job. Great for a speedy and neat hairstyle. And my favourite headband with a big black bow on the top!

10. My keys <3 Car and house. I have two keyrings that mean a ton to me because they were bought for me by my sister and my best friends. The one from my friends is a framed picture of us and the one from my sister is a tiny mirror that has sister engraved on the back. If I ever lost them I’d be more worried about the fact my keyrings were gone than my keys!

11. Digital camera. Yes, I have one on my phone, but it’s pretty useless so I always take this one with me. Right now the battery is dead.

12. A pen and a pencil.

13. Hand gel! Working in a bar at night means lots of germs being passed from one hand to another. This is my one OCD’ish tendancy. When someone hands me the money for their order I think, “You’re very drunk and probably didn’t wash your hands when you last went to the bathroom… also, who knows what else you’ve been doing tonight!” So at every opportunity I squirt some of this onto my hands. It’s ultra strong and designed for the medical profession so it’s not the kindest on my hands, but I know it’s doing its job XD

14. Lemsip cold and flu. My immune system is terrible and these things work an absoloute treat if I’m feeling groggy.

15. My lovely little iPod nano. I travel a lot so this is a vital part of my day. Right now it is earphoneless because I managed to break them on my way home yesterday… :/

16. My little Ruby and Millie makeup bag with my Carmex lip balm, Lime Crime pixie dust (serious life saver girls! I just got mine the other day and I’m already attatched!), brush and pencil eyeliner.

17. My Samsung phone. It’s full of minutes and messages and free internet so I can connect to the web whenever I need to. Also it has applications for eBay, MSN and Google Maps, so I have everything at my finger tips. I couldn’t live without it!

What an unorderly bag! It’s only a zip up tote so it does tend to get messy. Does anyone have any suggestions for websites that offer cheap but pretty girly bags with lots of compartments and pockets?

• joy says:

i feel you on the chapstick addiction. i have to have it on at all times as well: when i go to bed, on the way to work, after eating or drinking…

• There is an artist in Paris named Nathalie Lecroc who paints portraits of women’s hand bags and there contents. They are sooo Gorgeous and only 400 francs. But the catch is you have to go to paris and sit for 3 hours while she sketchs and then water colors everything in and outside your bag. Wait what a glorious catch!

lollz I found a solution concerning brush in purses. http://shop.avon.ca/avonshop_fr/default.asp?rep_phone=&rep_email=&newdept=&s=ShoppingSect&c=PRSite&otc=ShopOnlineTextLink&

(no, i’m not selling avon, I just love thats its a very small kabuki brush with a cap, so you dont ruin your brush!)

Also in my purse I usually have a laptop, my school books, a cosmetc bag I uses to carry my pencil and highlighter, a lipbalm and a mascara + powder and a brush, my cellphone (and the earphone), stuff to read, my agenda, gum, a water bottle, a giga wallet (i have tons of card), pinkgrapefruit body lotion (i use it for my hand, its in a small container), a calculator, my keys, a container with bags of tea, my reusable coffee cup, a granola bar, some fruit snacks and a cup-a-soup. Heumm.. I have quite a big handbag ^.^
