Jesse's Girl: Nail Polish Review

Category Reviews

Jesse’s Girl nail polish
out of 5.

$2.99 at Rite Aid

When I saw this at a pharmacy, I just had to have it! Jesse’s Girl nail varnish in Hot Purple quickly became my signature shade, which I’m currently sporting on my hands & my feet! Unfortunately, like most neons, it’s hard to capture its intensity in photographs; you’ll just have to close your eyes and picture the most outrageous bright purple you’ve ever seen!

The quality was a bit of a letdown – but what do I expect for $2.99? With a base and a top coat, it lasted 2 solid days before starting to deteriorate, and about a week and a half on my feet. One more thing: it goes on matte – very unusual! – I applied a top coat in the pictures to make it glossy.

In spite of its short life on my nails, I still love it simply because of its rare color. If anybody knows of a similar shade by a different brand, do let me know!

Still much brighter in real life!

I like super dark navy blue. Right now, I’m using Nars. I can generally get a week of wear out of two coats + 1 top coat but that’s pushing it. (I type all day, though — maybe that leads my polish to an early death.)

I have a color similar to that and it’s by Milani! I can’t remember the name right now and can’t check, as I’m at work, but I’ll find out and let you know asap. I’ve only worn it on my toes so far but it lasted about 2 weeks. :)

I am beyond jealous of that colour!
I have the same kind of neon colour but it’s pink, not that lovely purple.
I’m gonna try and find it here in Belgium.

I love pink nails, sometimes I still wear black or a dark red^^

hey i have that nail polish! i absolutely loved the color. the matte finish was awesome. i have only wore it once though since it did seem to flake very, very quickly.

I usually go for lighter shades, because I keep my nails fairly short. One of my favourites is Mod Hatter from the OPI Garden Party collection. If I don’t have a colour on, I always wear a topcoat.

  • Poppy says:

I think Napoloeon Perdis has a similar colour, and I really love his nail polishes!

  • thumper says:

silver glitter with a black dot. both shades form Depend :D they are awesome

  • Kit says:

I like bright red or a dried blood red :p hehe Ooo and lately lots of purples.

I’m so happy someone else has it too – joy needs to be spread!

    ♣ Naomi
I like to keep my nails short as well. If it’s longer than my fingertip, it’s too long. I think contrast colors look way more awesome on shorter nails, and definitely 1000% more fashionable. ;)

    ♣ Poppy
Really?! Do you know what it’s called?

    ♣ Thumper
Possibly the most original manicure I’ve ever heard of.

Oooo that colour is nice! I used to constantly wear black, but just found a really dark maroon colour. I used to wear it all the time but now I sew so much my varnish just gets these needle scratches across them all the time. lol

  • Ruth says:

    Ballerina pink or neon green.

If you like pink check out the Jesses Girl Baby Cakes.

I love that purple! Too bad it doesn’t last ):

I like to use different colours when painting my nails :D Normally I’ll have my middle and ring fingers painted black, with my index finger and pinky some other colour – usually pink or turquoise. And I alternate the thumbs so I still have an even number of fingernails for each colour. (that sounded a lot more complicated than it is! haha) Lately I’ve been experimenting with using colours besides black though.

Also, have you heard of http://www.nailgal.com? It’s an awesome awesome site!

I pretty much have a kaleidoscope of nail polish colors. Right now I’m wearing a pearly white color, but I think my favorite is my bright (almost neon) orange.

I’ve never seen that color before. It’s lovely.

  • Lor says:

I have noticed that alot of nail polishes are shades of red. I found this one by some cheap brand like wet n wild or something (I forget because I peeled off the label) but I’m really feeling this light blue greeny color. I really like your purple as well.

Island Girl nail polish. Its only sold here in HI but they have that color purple and the rest of the line is bright bright bright! I have the purple on my toes as I type. I got a pedi on Saturday and they had the island girl line alongside with the OPI’s. Great coverage, not cheapy at all. I’ve tried different colors for my fingernails and they last over a week without chipping or anything!

  • Muffin says:

i have this color too but mine is made by sinful colors (1.99 @ walgreens woo!) the color is called dream on and so far is lasting (i did use a rimmel top coat) :)

  • jackie says:

one of the very best lime greens in existence.
it requires only one coat to get the full shade, and it doesn’t make my nails look like radioactive waste!

  • Lynnith says:

    Frenchie is right.
There is a color like it by Milani.
I dont know if its exact but pretty
    close to it.
The color is called Cool Vibe (#65)
I’ve used it and it hasnt given me a problem.
It does last but it also depends on the person I suppose.

    I hope this helps.
    Take Care.

Hello..this is an old post…but if you like violently bright neon colors in your polish..two colors I’d suggest are Color Club brand Limelight(neon green) and Screamin´Fucshia (hot pink). I haven’t tried out any other colors yet, but those two..they bright as highlighters in daylight. :)

My sig. polish: hmm i don’t have one. i have an overall passion for old things and it includes nail polish.
I have some nail polish i love from a set my mom bought over 20 years ago a few years before i was born. she didn’t want them anymore and gave them to me when i was in elementary school. I found the box in my room a few months ago. Several still work like new. One colour is fantastic and goes great on my pale skin taking the pink tones outta my hands. I also love 3 polishes from when i was 6 my mom bought from her beauty school. I just enjoy the idea of discovering useful things that would/should have ended up in the trash a decade ago.

Oh but my latest dicovery i must share with you because it matches the Lime Crime Duchess Eye dust nearly perfectly! It’s Sinful Colors in Gorgeous(293) at Walgreens.
    one more thing….

    Question advice?:
All my nail polish chips the day i apply it. tiny hardly noticeable chips but they’re still there. I do buy fairly cheap nail polish because its what I can afford, or have very old high quality polish. I bought Sally Hansen Super Shine top coat but it doesn’t seem worth the trouble. I make sure to do everything right, wash my hands and swipe with nail polish remover beforehand to remove any oils. i make sure to let each coat dry enough before applying the next and well every other tip I’ve ever read in SEVENTEEN.

So please tell me how can i make my nail polish last!? What top and bottom coats do you recommend? And if this at all intrigues you I’d love if you turned this entire plee into a blog post revealing the secrets of nail polish.

I love this nail polish! My boyfriend’s name just happens to be Jesse as well…

I realize this post is quite old, but I saw this and realized I have a very similar color in my makeup bag! :] The brand is Chine Glaze, I got it from Sally Beauty Supply. The shade is “Purple Panic (NEON)”

I found pictures of it online, but this series makes it seem a bit more pink than it is in actuality.

The Milani that is very close to it is from their neon line, called “Rad Purple” (which is in a stupid opaque bottle). I have both colors and they are very similar. The biggest difference is that Rad Purple has more of a “jelly” finish than the Jesse’s Girl purple, and it’s just a tad darker.

China Glaze’s Purple Panic might be another one that’s very close, but there are two different Purple Panics! I have the annoyingly not-as-neon version, so be on the lookout for that.

When i was on the hunt for the the one I was talking about in my post below yours, i saw a china glaze one the one you said…purple panic….but i was unable to buy it because it was at some random salon that did nails, but didn’t sell nail polish.

So i went to sally beauty supply to buy the china glaze in purple panic and to my surprise it was a light pink!!!!!!! It wasn’t at all like the one i saw at the salon!

i was shocked and disappointed although i happened to find exactly what i was looking for in a different brand

I think this jesses girl hot purple colour may be similar to one that I use that is DEFINITELY MY SIGNATURE COLOUR!

I bought it at a Sally Beauty supply store and the make of the nail polish is called “Nina ultra pro” and the colour is “Punki purple” it is my absolute favourite colour and I will practically NEVER wear any other colour again.

EVERY TIME i wear this nail polish I ALWAYS get compliments…it actually kind of surprises me because I don’t expect almost everyone I encounter (from cashiers, my cousins, to my MALE DENTIST!!!) lol!!

I had originally bought the same colour at a Claires store with the “claires” brand on the nail polish, and once i ran out of that, i couldn’t find it anywhere!

I went on a mission and happened to find it at sally beauty supply.

I don’t think we sell jesses girl here in canada…and if we do, I’ve never seen it.

I also forgot to mention, it also goes on matte and I have to put a gloss over it!
