I wore this makeup on the last night in Vegas, to Criss Angel Believe. I wanted something circus-y and magical.

INGREDIENTS

Face
Moisturize skin. Apply Foundation Primer and then foundation with a sponge evenly all over the face. Fill in eyebrows. Apply a tinge of pink blush on the cheeks. Dust loose powder generously under one eye – to catch any gold pigment which will inevitably fall. The powder can later be swept off with a large brush.

Eyes

Apply black mascara to top lashes only. Prep your lids with an Eyeshadow Primer and, using a thin brush, draw a diamond shape around the eye. I used Treasure Chest (metallic gold), but you can do any other color – silver, red, purple, yellow – use your imagination. :) Once the shape looks more or less balanced, fill in the rest of color with a larger brush.

My original idea was to have rhinestones on each tip of the diamond – which is what I recommend you do. Alas, I didn’t pack any rhinestones so I had to improvise with what I had – large-grain, silver glitter. I painted a small, round dot with eyelash glue where I wanted my ‘rhinestones’ to sit, and patted the glitter on top of it. Once the glue dried (about 30 seconds), I swept the excess particles off with a powder brush. If you’re going to use rhinestones, simply apply eyelash glue on the back, let dry for a few seconds and adhere where you want them.

For the other eye, use a matching eyeshadow on top lid and blend out a bit. Apply Nymph to the center of both lids, blending out lightly, then dab some on the waterline with a tiny brush. Alternatively, light-gold pencil can be used.

The last step is the lashes. I got this show-stopping pair at a pharmacy the day after Halloween, 50% off. I do this trick every year, and recommend you do the same if you want some crazy, big lashes on the cheap!

Lips

Apply lipliner and fill in with berry gloss. I had to mix my own color because, again, I had limited supplies, but I’m sure you can easily find a similar shade in the stores. :) Voila!

Criss Angel’s bunny.
People kept asking me if I was in the show – that’s what I get for wearing ridiculous makeup, haha. :)

Criss Angel was a mixed bag for me. I sensed some great inspiration behind it – American McGee’s Alice, Marilyn Manson videos, etc – and yet, something was lacking. If you are already a fan of Criss, then you’ll love Believe. But I came specifically to find out what it is that makes him such a rockstar of magic, and he just didn’t wow me. Don’t get me wrong – I think he’s cute and Cirque du Soleil certainly did a splendid job backing him up… I just wished there was more Criss doing magic. :)

Deerlings: which stores would you like to see carry Lime Crime makeup?
