Outtake from photosession with SNOB magazine. Photographer had a Persian cat :D
My dear Deerlings,
It’s been a while since I posted a more personal update, about what’s going on in my life. The last few months have been like a trip to DisneyWorld – you have hard time believing what’s actually happening, let alone documenting it! A week ago my mother was reading a paper on her way to work when she spied a familiar unicorn logo in the beauty section. Turns out, Lime Crime got featured in AM New York, a daily circular with readership of millions! What’s even more astounding (and incredibly humbling) is that my lipstick somehow ended up alongside Dior, MAC and – yes! – Lipstick Queen. Poppy King has been a huge inspiration to me, and it’s simply surreal. I really feel like my hard work is finally starting to pay off!
But wait, there’s more. One of my most favoritest magazines in the entire world, NYLON, recently summoned me into their offices to talk about my lipstick line! I almost died of happiness. Me and the beauty editor had a blast chatting about colorful cosmetics, unicorns, and how companies are afraid to make bright colors because they think they know what’s best for the consumer – and the importance of standing up to that! The interview is scheduled to come out in November and I encourage all of you go out and get a copy! As far as I’m concerned, this is history in the making. :) And if you’re in Russia, there is a luxury – and I mean, LUXURY – magazine called Snob which will have an interview with me as well in the October issue. They didn’t end up using photos with the cat and went with photos of me in New York, but it should be very interesting nonetheless. This interview is the result of my travels to Russia earlier in the year.

More photos from this set available in the Gallery.
I’m so happy you’re all finding my Marie Antoinette tutorial useful! Thank you for all your emails. :D I hope you love the rest of the set as much - by the way, while posing with cake, I came up with the BEST description for Great Pink Planet lipstick. “Strawberry milkshake”!!! It’s the same kind of delectable pastel pink that you just want to eat, yum!
Inventory update: lipsticks have been selling like hot pirogis on a winter day – we are almost sold out of the first shipment! I can’t believe it. Thank you SO MUCH! Just a heads-up: we are completely out of No She Didn’t, Cosmopop, Centrifuchsia and only 1 Airborne Unicorn & 5 Retrofuturist left. Second shipment won’t be in until November so if you need them before Halloween, now is a good time to order.
Thank you all for your continuous support, your emails, comments, care packages in the mail. You guys are what keeps me going! I would like to especially thank our hard-working Street Team who have drummed up quite the buzz about Lime Crime. xo!

speaking of which, I spoke to a friend the other day and I told her I had ordered a bunch of makeup and she asked from where and I told her it was from limecrime makeup, and she said: oh… it’s that Doe Deere girl right?
And I was like: GLEE! ^^ It was so awesome :D and she really liked the blue lipstick, can’t believe it sold out ^^

Hello Doe Deere! I really like your blog and think its an inspiration to us all! But I think its missing the custom little symbol that pops up next to the window name at the top of every window and shows next to the name in your favorites. Perhaps a Unicorn?
Thanks for a great blog!

I looked at the pics in the gallery and they’re fabulous! My mom was sitting next to me (I’m on our laptop) and said it was the prettiest she’s ever seen you. I LOVE it, i’m not saying you should ever go blonde but the white hair does something fabulous to your eye colour.I adore the dress (is it a dress?) you’re wearing! I’m going to break in and steal it while you’re sleeping Bwah ha ha =P After Halloween of course.;)

Beautiful styling in the pictures. I adore Marie Antoinette, and I think your interpretation of the look is stunning.
Until I read the caption, I thought you had adopted another Persian, and decided I was going to have to be infinitely jealous of you. lol I want one so bad! I want to get a male Persian and name him Lucifer Fluffypants (Lucy for short). I always wanted to name a Persian cat Marie Antoinette, but I decided to give my current cat (black domestic long hair) the middle name Maria Antonia.
The Dances of Vice website has Lime Crime listed as a vendor for the October 17th event. I’m contemplating attending since I will be in New York that day anyway. Will there be lipsticks there?

I like the make-up and the corset, but as a fan of Marie Antoinette I’m almost offended by the wig choice. Obviously it’s not going to look real but … I’m sure it could have looked better than that.

Aw, I figured that the plastic look was intentional! It could’ve been more elaborate/shaped, but (as, in the interest of full disclosure, someone who’s interested in but generally kind of ambivalent to Marie Antoinette) I have to say I think it does its job.

Yippee for awesomeness!!!
I was thinking, because you’re a pale gal like me, it must be hard for you to get the perfect nude lip. I’ve essentially given up myself. Using foundation just doesn’t work for me and all the lipsticks I’ve tried result in epic failures.
Perhaps you could lead the way to a true nude lipstick. I know it doesn’t fit in with the bright colors scheme of your line currently, but it could double as a cream lip color for those that are darker as the potential opposite of the black lipstick!
I think it’d make a lot of super pale ladies happy to finally have something easy (er) to turn to.

Oh, god. That hat deserves an entry of its own because it caused many a hilarious situation during the trip. Customs security stopping me to ask about the hat, creepy and not-so-creepy guys hitting on me on the plane, strangers wondering if I’m from Ulaanbaator (capital of Mongolia!), haha! I think it’s just an equestrian hat from the 30s. :)

I have to say these photoshoots are definitely an effective advertising ploy– every color seems to be a must-have for all of us after we see the pictures of you! I was thinking maybe you should replace the faux lip swatches on the LC website with closeups of the lips in the photoshoots, once they’ve all been done. That way it’s an actual sample of them legitimately being used.
