Margarita thinks of herself as a girl next door, but I always thought she had a striking, exotic look about her. When she agreed to do a makeover with me, I was ecstatic! Here’s what came out of it… :)

Before (bare face with a touch of foundation)

After (in full makeup)

INGREDIENTS
- Eyeshadows: Shoe Addict, Elf, Circus Girl, Crystal Ball
- Eyes: black liquid eyeliner, mascara, lashes, eyeshadow primer.
- Lips: hot pink lipstick + clear gloss
- Face: Foundation Primer in Matte, concealer, Finishing Pixie Dust, Marie Antoinette blush
Eyes
Apply primer to eyelids (try Eyeshadow Insurance by Too Faced or primer by Urban Decay). With a medium brush, apply Circus Girl onto the center of the eye and using a smaller brush, on the inner corner. On outer corners and under the eye, apply Shoe Addict blue, extending the color slightly towards the temples. Define crease with Elf and use it connect the blue and the yellow. Repeat the same step under the eye. Our highlighter, Nymph, goes on the brow bone. Now pick up a large, round shadow brush and blend Nymph into the colors below in circular motion.
With a liquid or gel liner, draw a thin line close to the lashes and on the waterline. Apply falsies as close to the natural lashline as possible. Apply mascara as usual and fill in the brows.

Face
Moisturize skin. Apply matte Foundation Primer to prep the skin for foundation. Pour a small dab on the foam sponge and apply all over. Apply concealer where needed for an even better coverage. To give Margarita’s face that dewy glow, I dabbed some Finishing Pixie Dust on the bridge of her nose, under the eyes and the center of chin with a larger, round eyeshadow brush. Marie Antoinette blush (subtle pink) was used on the apples of her cheeks.
Lips
I mixed my own lip color here. You might be able to find a similar shade in a store - it’s a semi-sheer hot pink with a purplish tint. To plump up the lips, dab a small amount of clear gloss on the center of lower lip and press your lips together. Voila!
And yes, it is Margarita you see on the LC banner. :) In addition to being my poster girl, she is also a pop/rock songstress. Check out her music here!

Wanna come over and give me a makeover?? lol She’s crazy for thinking she looks like a girl next door type, too, just as you said. I hope she had just as much fun with this as you seemed too!!
Also, a piece of advice? Eyeliner has always been an issue with me…no matter what brand, from Jane to MAC, always ‘melts’ down my face (save for liquid liner, really, but I don’t have the steadiest hand so it always becomes a big ordeal when I use it). Any recommendations on either eyeliner to try, and/or advice as to get it to stay?

Yes, I ship to anywhere around the world. :)

You’ll love gel liners! They are much easier to control, but just as dramatic.

I love to see brown eyed girls with bright eyeshadow on insted of the usual brown eyeshadow. In my opinion any shade of eyeshadow looks amazing with brown eyes and you just proved it with this tutorial.

I might be in New York in April, and while you probably have no interest in making over a complete stranger, I would be completely willing!

Everything is impeccable, as usual, but I have never been a fan of lining lips outside the lipline. It always looks so obvious…

Beautiful makeovver, I love how the shadows look so iridescent! Just one question: was the closed-eye shot taken with or without flash?

Yes! Brown-eyed girls can rock bright eyeshadows the best! :D
♣ Padmita
Both ‘glamour’ shots were taken with the flash. I find that it gives a better representation of how shimmery the eyeshadow is. No-flash photography just doesn’t capture the sparkle that well.

That is marvellous!!! What a change. The makeup really reveals the beauty of that girl! You have done a marvellous work.
By the way I discovered your blogazine recently and I love it. You have a super sense of colour and many imagination. I particularly love the “porcelain doll” look.

She was lovely to start with, and you enhanced her natural pixie-prettiness. :D Good job!!
@Elizabeth: My eyes are dark brown, and I’ve never touched a neutral eyeshadow in my life. xD

Xenia, I was really privledged and honored to be your model. You did an amazing job. And yesterday I was wearing one of your bright pink shadows, as I stopped by the Body Shop. And guess what I had 2 girls asking me where did I get such a bright pink. And I forwarded them to your website and told them about your make-up line!
Thank you Xenia. YOu are very talented and such a hard worker!

I have a question – how did you make Margarita’s eyebrows appear more softer? In the ‘before’ picture, they’re a lot harsher. What products/brushes(?) did you use?
Your make-up-making hands are like magic!
