Tales of the Unicorn Queen

“Is she the world’s finest detective or is she only on the case to throw them off the scent?”

One of the things I enjoy the most is slipping into a character. Little Mystery is a classic beauty who likes to play detective and solve crimes — half of which she is responsible for herself. I created this look referencing old Hollywood glamor with a modern twist; instead of traditional nude/brown lid I lit it up by pinks and purples. If you still need a Halloween costume, consider this! You can find a link to the tutorial on the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

Love the bright lips … and i love the purple shadows! I always tend to resort to purple when I do eye makeup. Can’t wait to get my lime crime products in the mail!!

A very pretty look. I love the purple and pink eyes. You’re gorgeous!

  • That photography is amazing! As much as I loved your red haired look, you look stunning as a blonde! Wish I could try it one day, but my complexion does not allow for it. x

I really love this look. I’ve been kind of iffy about the blonde hair (but I’m generally biased toward red). I know the blonde is just a transition before you go blue, but this shoot and the previous one have completely won me over to your current hair. You look like a 1940′s film star. Very classic and beautiful!

  • Cristina says:

whoa…is it just me or are mark’s photography skills getting crazy good??!! these photographs are incredible!!!!! and, the whole look is just killer. the magnifying glass over your perfectly made up eye…brilliance!!! great shoot!! xoxo

    Doe Deere Reply:

Thanks Cristina, I’ll pass it on to him. I’m sure he’ll be very flattered. :D

  • Kelsey says:

Is that gray nail polish? That shade is stellar. What kind is it?

  • M says:

I like how you let your natural curls show!

    Doe Deere Reply:

I WISH they were natural! Amazing what a curling iron can do. :)

  • Ingrid says:

Lovely hair! And pictures. And make up. :D

  • Flip says:

    LOVE IT!

The color really makes your eyes pop.
And Im really digging you as a blonde, I adored your red hair [it almost made me go red myself] but dear me, you look fantastic blonde!
    <3

    You really are an inspiration!

Im being a fairy for Halloween this year, Im thinking of using one of your make up tutorials [and one on my friend, she refuses to get away from chunky eyeliner and black..she has wonderful green eyes too!]

    -Flip

    P.S.
Keep going with this blonde for a bit~

    Doe Deere Reply:

Hey Flip! I did just a Cheese Fairy photoshoot and might go as that for Halloween as well. Fairies are awesome! Which tutorial were you thinking of using?

    Flip Reply:

Haha, that has got to be a set worth seeing!
    I love fairies <3

I was thinking of your Spring Time tutorial, or Dragonfly, though I loved the simplicity of your make up from your Bed of Roses post.

Im torn on which I should use.

  • Shelli says:

Xenia, what kind of face powder do you use ? And, after you finish, do you use any finishing spray, powder, or anything to set the make-up so it stays in place all day ?

    Doe Deere Reply:

Mine is by Kryolan, but they are all pretty much the same – any kind of translucent powder will do! I don’t use a finishing spray but have heard good things about MAC Fix+.

  • Gabi says:

One of your most beautiful look to date.

With all these hair changes I all of a sudden want to see you with black – don’t do it though – so tough on the hair. But actually, if you keep it shorter, it’s not such a big deal.

Love the blond looks you are sporting

  • Becca Rainbow says:

you’re stunning! the blonde hair is so nice btw :)

If anyone reads this… I borrowed the Fafi girl look for Halloween last year, and it’s still available as a tutorial!!
