Tales of the Unicorn Queen

OMG, I need these lashes!!! These are lazer-cut and made entirely out of paper, by Luna & Curious.

Here’s Sam of Pixiwoo using them (scroll down to the end):

They are gorgeous! I would definitely wear them! But how long would they last? xx

    Doe Deere Reply:

Good question! I’m waiting to hear from them and will report as soon as I do. :)

  • korinsama says:

i think they are pretty like… not on the eye, they just look like mascara’s clumps when you’re far away >.>

talking about lashes, i got lashes extensions a few months ago, it’s the best “makeup” investment i did ever :O no need of mascara anymore and it’s the prettiest thing ever ^^

    Doe Deere Reply:

Really?? I think they look fabulous!!! Extensions – I’ve been thinking about that, how much does it cost and how long do they last?

    Rhia Reply:

I want lash inserts/extensions too! I totally wear these falsies, from a distance they just look like nice, slightly clumpy (I like that!) voluminous lashes, and then close up it’s like WOW!

    zoomusicgirl Reply:

When I got extensions they were 75 dollars and lasted about a month. Completely worth it, but they can damage your lashes. Luckily they didn’t, but I only did it the one time.

    korinsama Reply:

mine cost $150 CAN and last for around 4 to 6 weeks after that you need touch up appointement for $50 , the brand i’m using is Misencil (http://www.misencil.com/home.aspx) , i don’t know if its available in the US, try to check that out. It doesnt dammage your real lashes at all, i have some photos on my facebook, heres a link : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4207540&l=9c6e5edc87&id=537291174

but i had another appointed since then and now i got even fuller lashes it’s soooo pretty..

you’ll never need any mascara, it doesnt even make a difference when you apply mascara :P

  • Stel says:

I saw them on Pixiwoo too, they are so gorgeous, but a bit too pricey for me. With my clumsiness it would probably be torn before I get to wear it haha!

  • Mary says:

They are nice, but a little bit too “high fashion” to wear it everyday for me…so i would not invest money for that, sorry! :)

  • Sini says:

    gooood I love these lashes!

  • Maggie says:

i’ve seen these on several fashion blogs but I just can’t get into them.

  • Sasa says:

    omg these are amazing!
But I don’t think they really look good.. what a pitty, they sure are original!

I wonder how well they hold getting wet, I mean, sometimes it rains while wearing lashes, or you get teary…

  • Monica says:

I love pixiwoo, I’m glad to see you know about their channel. They’re one of if not the best makeup gurus on youtube. And I don’t really even think realistic false lashes are practical for everyday use but for photography these are fantastic.

  • Rebecca says:

Oh, another reason I wish I could wear false lashes… I’m Asian and I have hooded eyes (no crease) and I refuse to get eyelid surgery, so it’s really hard for me to wear false lashes. :(

    Amélie Reply:

Asian eyelid surgery is the most stupid plastic surgery, ever worse than other useless stuff. I just don’t see why some have to be so brainwashed into fitting a standard beauty mold, even though there are so many variations of beauty, so kudos to you! =D

    Amélie Reply:

    *even

    Rebecca Reply:

    Aw, thank you! ^_^
I actually really like that I don’t have a crease sometimes – it forces me to think up different make-up techniques specific to my eyes! Of course, it makes reading make-up blogs frustrating sometimes, since even the Asian-oriented ones oftentimes involve needing at least a small crease since so many girls get the surgery for high school graduation presents these days (seriously).
Along with nose jobs (and sometimes hair bleaching), the whole Asians-trying-to-look-white epidemic disgusts me a bit. I’m all for people altering their appearance, but this is something different and much more culturally unsettling… :/

  • Bee says:

Thanks so much for linking Pixiwoo–I had never heard of her! Now I’m going to spend my Saturday building up a cart on sephora.com and watching her channel:)
Also just dying for those lashes!!

  • Lauren says:

I love those! Thanks for sharing; I think I’d like to pick up a pair and see how they last. I probably wouldn’t wear them to work, but they’d be perfect for going out at night.

  • Luinae says:

I adore Pixiwoo’s tutorials! They are really great.

  • Agnes says:

nice but looks like im gonna damage it the first time i get a little tipsy with those on. Paper maybe isnt that ideal, why cant they be out of plastic instead?

  • Ladyfoxgluv says:

Love them! I would get them…very unique.I love anything that is not the mundane.

  • Mindy says:

If I wore them, I’d use a different color of mascara on my lashes, so they didn’t obscure the design of the falsies. I really wish the horse was a unicorn! Black uni in bright pink lash grass, yes pleez. The peach blossoms look like bunnies to me, tehe. =D I hope Luna & Curious gets oodles of support and come out with many more designs soon soon. Annd, colors!!!

  • Remi says:

I think it’s a neat idea and they would probably look really cool for close-up fashion photography (well.. fashion makeup, haha) but as others have noted, probably not so practical for everyday… I’m unsure how they would look from a “normal distance” (as in.. normal conversation distance between people, or more). I’d definitely like to try some, but they are pretty expensive.. also wondering how durable they are, if it’s super thin paper, how easily they tear, etc.

Can’t wait to see you try them out though!

  • Anna says:

hmm.. I think those lashes look great, but only when they are not in the eye.
Imo those look only big mascara clumbs or something.
    Nice idea still~

  • That’s so strange but very original hihi :)
That will be good on your eyes ! (sorry my english is bad lol !)

  • lillieful says:

    That’s amazing! They’re very original.
Doe, you need to see if you can get some unicorn ones made ;)

  • Rickey says:

Oh my glorious goodness, those are quite chocolate jesusworthy! J’adore! THank you for posting these, Doe! I super love the peonies, especially.
    <3

  • valtornia says:

YES YES YES ! :D I LOVE FAKE EYELASHES and week ago I made my own pair inspired by PAPERSELF ;)

  • Flip says:

    OH HECK YES!

The peach blossom ones look fantastic.
    I want these now!!

  • Am I the only one who thinks they look like fungus ?

    ~Mary~ Reply:

still looks cool!!! fungus or not!

  • Kellee says:

Those lashes look awesome! I would totally wear them. Probably not for everyday stuff, but when I feel a photo shoot coming along, They’d definitely make my pick of makeup items to use.

  • I saw them in the tutorial! I think I would be afraid to wear them because they’re so nice. They look amazing close up. I think I might try the peonies because they sort of just look like fake eyelashes but they’re cool.

  • Jessica:) says:

OMG these are phenomenal! They would be perfect for the semiformal I have coming up!

  • Alyse says:

I think these are really pretty but I hate wearing false lashes, they just don’t seem to look right on me.

  • Steph Doll says:

very cute! WHEN WILL YOU BE COMING TO LA?

  • Kat V says:

    Wow, these look amazing!

  • ~Mary~ says:

the photos of these on the paperself website look way better! color behind the black paper really make the shapes stand out. i LOVE LOVE LOVE these. who would have ever thought about this? what a great idea. i would totally wear these!!!

  • James Vee says:

If I had the money, I would buy them this very second.
This is something I’ve been dreaming of, why just have fake eyelashes that look like eyelashes? This is so fun and cute.

  • I use a micro SD card between my laptop and netbook as an external hardrive for my class files. I often download files on one computer or the other without the drive in that computer. Is it possible to set my computer up so that when I insert my drive my computer automatically updates the folder on my removable drive with the folder on my computer?.
