“Fairy Wings

Fiona was ashamed of them. She hid them under her shirt, tucked them behind a bra, and even tried to bind them against her body. If anyone else had them, they weren’t this big. Such were her thoughts when she heard plaintive cries of a kitten and horrified gasps coming from a crowd. The house was engulfed in flames with the kitten perched on a pipe on the third floor, as the helpless owners stood beneath. As the neighborhood looked on, Fiona unfurled her wings for the first time. As she descended with the rescued kitten in her arms, she knew there was no shame in being a fairy.

You have until August 15 to submit your entry. Show us what you’ve got!!!

This story is for Top Hattie.

Top Hattie wrinkled her brow she was so deep in thought she just couldn’t decide what top hat to wear. Just when Hattie was about to give up there was a knock at her door it was a package from a friend “Just something to brighten your day” the note read. What the package revealed took Hattie’s breath away a shimmery white eyedust,it was all the inspiration she needed. Top Hattie walked out of her front door wearing a diamond encrusted top hat that set off her sparkle like diamond eyes.

    Troubador:

Anastasia twirled through roses like they were friends she had known for many years. Her eyes sparkled as happiness and memory glided past her thoughts. Her horse grazed upon the grasses that covered the magnificence of the field. She smiled dreamingly as she laid in the soft grass surrounding the bright turquoise roses that shimmered with the sun as the dew dripped off of the buttery petals.

She closed her eyes in thought and soon fell asleep to the soft wind around her. Anastasia began to dream of the roses she held dear to her and their turquoise shimmer that shone around her. She dreamt she slid down the petals as if they were slides and she landed into the dew that dripped off of the petals.

She awoke in the late evening when the sun began to set; she sat up when the roses began to close and she sighed in a sad way but then smiled brightly. Her horse came over as she stood up and said,” The roses may have closed but the color of such a flower is truely unforgettable.”

Anna ran her green painted nails along her boyfriend’s cheek. She rolled over in the lush grass and giggled as he grabbed at her waist. Anna sprung up and ran around a park bench. They laughed and played, chasing after each other and finally they fell back down on the soft green grass, kissing passionately. “You know” whispered Anna, “I don’t think we caused enough mischief today. We should go back to my place.”

“Top hattie! Hattie hattie hattie!”, the baby said aloud, massive grin on her face, pointing at the groom going into the church. She and her mother were sat on a bench opposite, watching the people gathered around.
“It’s just ‘hat’, darling, top hat”
“Hee hee, top hattie! Top hattie!!”
“‘Hat’ darling, no ‘ie’ on the end…” She trailed off as she saw the beautiful bride climb out of the white carriage, with a beautiful silver dress on, a shimmery flowing train draping behind her.
She could only let herself be sad for a moment, for again Harriet was giggling and pointing at the proceedings.
    “Top…hat?”
She smiled. “No, I think you were right before. Top hattie!” She picked up her giggling bundle of a daughter, and spun her around and around and they both ran down the street, in fits of giggles.

This cake, she thought, is the best cake in the world. If I could pick one cake to eat for the rest of my days, it would be this cake. It is the prettiest cake I have ever seen, baby pink and shimmery. It is almost a shame to eat it, and never see it again. But, not that much of a shame, she pondered as she munched away, because it is the most delicious cake I have eaten in my entire life. Such sweetness, but not too sweet, just the right amount of sweetness. Oh, I am sure I must be in heaven to be eating a cake so…so…oh, what is the word I am looking for to describe such a cake…?
    “EHEM”
    Emily looked up dreamily.
“Where is my cake?!” Demanded Emily’s sister Susan.
“What..erm..your cake…” Muttered Emily, wiping away pink crumbs from her mouth and shimmery bits from her dress.

The sprightly, minty-haired young girl rushed past the shocked King and Queen. Her arms were wrapped around the box, and inside the box was the most fantastic treasure she’d ever seen. So of course, despite being a guest at the Royal Tea, she had to have these beautiful confections to herself. The Knave of Hearts had nothing on her!
A sparkling little giggle fell from her mouth as she rushed past the befuddled guards, out the back gates, and into the rose garden. She skipped past the blue, white, and yellow roses. The red ones as well, until she came to a towering pink rose bush, big enough to hide behind. Here she could have the treasure all to herself, and in peace. She lifted the lid of the box and gasped, just as she had the first time she saw them. Dazzling, glittering like amethyst and pearl, were the most fabulously delicious strawberry cupcakes!

    Troubadour

“Troubadour! Troubadour! Oh where are you, you silly little pug… TROUB-A-DOUR!!”
Melissa’s little pug puppy was such a mischievous little thing, always running off when they were in the park.
After about half an hour of searching high and low for the pup, Melissa thew herself down on a bench, upset and exhausted.
    “Are you ok Miss?”
A beautiful man was sat beside her, with a turquoise blazer on that shimmered and sparkled in the sun.
“Well urm, my dog, he’s ran off…He’s called Troubadour…”
“Ah, a troubadour? A creature of words and expression… My dear, I am sure he will turn up very soon. A poet cannot be without his muse for long. Do not fret, sit and wait in this glorious sunshine!”
He got up and walked casually down the path. Melissa looked after the mysterious stranger curiously until she heard a familar little bark behind her. She spun around, and saw little Troubadour bounding toward her, with something trailing out of his mouth.
“There you are you little pug! I was so worried, I wish you wouldn’t run off like that!” She bent down to inspect his loot… It was a ribbon, in the most amazing shade of turquoise she had ever seen. She could have sworn she knew the colour from somewhere, but couldn’t for the life of her think where…

She looked through the shining glass window, eyes dazzled with the greatest intrigue and curiosity. Inside were the creations of the most extravagant pastry shoppe in the entire kingdom. Chefs tediously hustled and bustled around the room getting all of their delicious creations readied for the grand ball. Icing, batter, sweetness, texture; it all had to be perfection. On a great pedestal in the center of the room sat a great pink cupcake. It’s icing shimmered as if magically concocted with fairy dust & the dreams of a slumbering unicorn. The sprinkles shimmered with a diamond-like glow. It was the most delicious looking cupcake the girl had ever seen, and she was quite sure the entire universe as well.
Face pressed tightly to the window, she dreamt of how delightful the icing would taste upon her tongue. Maybe it’d even whisk her away to a magical wonderland filled with an ocean of sprinkles and icing clouds brushing across the pastel pink sky. She watched the chefs all disappear into the kitchen to cook up more fabulous goodies, and hesitantly placed a hand to the door. Opening it, she took a deep breath and made her way to the pedestal; the kingdom’s Cupcake Thief. ♥♥♥

The urban cities grew up around them. The Nymphs of old stood still for hundreds of years watching man grow into a creature of beasts and creatures that even their father Gods couldn’t produce. Fashion, Christian Louboutin red soled heels. Prada’s glam and star studded wear. And Kate Spade purses flowing with color and imagination. Quietly they watched from the air, streams and ponds, trees, and stars. Until one bright morning a Tree Nymph, called Aesculus, decided to get off her perch and join in the celebration of these man made beauties.
The women she had seen carrying the tidings came through gates of marble and gold. Row after row of these shrines made a gasping nose out of the earthen beauty. With charm and spell work she got her way and was then clothed to make the men and women around her look like peasants. But something was missing. Faces of the ladies didn’t quite match her own. Shimmering and shining, a slight jealousy covered her and her new elaborate wardrobe. A tool to make her more of a goddess then a simple Tree Nymph. But where to find it?
SpaceNK. Gliding in a young women greeted Aesculus with a smile and bright green around her eyes. “May I help you Miss?” “That my pet, I want that” Pointing her dainty finger towards the women’s eyes the young lady was slightly startled. “Um, I don’t quite understand you dear, you want what?” Rolling her eyes she snapped her fingers and froze the young girl, exposing a stuck face of confusion. Prancing around she searched for her prize. A highly decorated and sparkling box caught the eye of the Nymph. Lime Crime eye ware. “Now which one is it?” Delicately filtering through the selection. A green bright as her summer leaves shown out. Mischief Managed was the name. And with it the Nymph Aesculus’s mischief was managed.

Loki stepped over the wooden doorway into the dress makers’ shop with a grin upon his face and Jade, his new bride, by his side. He loved bringing her along for trips into the city- batting her long eyelashes and exposing her ankles and bosom meant lower prices and no suspicion once the deeds were done.
‘Bonjour, Madame Ficelle’ he greeted the battered widowed seamstress, exposing his white teeth and pink gums. Her gestured to Jade with a slender white hand and Jade immediately commenced into a story about a dress she wanted for a Christmas Ball. Soon she was explaining the green grass shade of her dress she wanted while Madame Ficelle pinned and prodded her body with pins for the pattern. Loki smiled, glad as ever to have married Jade. Suddenly Madame whipped her forefinger in her mouth, smiling at him and explaining her silly wound. And quick as a cat Jade pulled Madame into her arms and broke her neck with one swift movement. Jade smiled, fangs exposed as she stepped to him, handing him the body so she could and empty the cash register into her corset and lock the front doors while he hid Madame’s drained body. ‘Bien fait, cherie’ he whispered in her ear as he broke the back door and swept her in his arms. She kissed his bloody lips, enjoying the taste and replied: ‘Comment dire?…Mischief managed.’

Slowly, slowly… the jewel thief descended along her rope until she was hanging precariously above the giant emerald. She gently eased the gorgeous gem off of its platform and into her bag, replacing it with a weighty glass replica. As swiftly as she had come, she was gone, disappearing through the hole in the skylight, and rappelling to the alleyway below. It wasn’t until she was safely home that she dared bring out the dazzling green stone. Gazing upon it hungrily, she suddenly laughed. “About time this was back in my hands,” she said. “Mischief managed!”

Gabrielle scurried through the back halls of her school. her feet made but the tiniest of noise on the hardwood floor as she moved room to room looking for the perfect item. Her heart was set on one thing and one thing only: to perform the greatest feat Lime Crime Boarding School had ever seen. Nearing the room of her goal, she slipped off her tired, but most practical, school issued shoes, and proceeded barefoot into the cavern, of possibly no return.

The smells hit Gabrielle like a wall. So many spices and aromas to make a girls mouth water, and to any other person but Gabrielle, to distract them from their original assignation. She crept slowly around the counter tops, her head hidden by the various bowls that had been used and waiting to be cleaned. Her eyes darted back and forth and around corners, making sure she had neither been spotted, nor her plan overheard and found out. As she turned around the last corner she came upon the perfect prize. Sitting atop the counter was the most perfect batch of cupcakes Gabrielle had ever seen. She hadn’t thought that she would make it this far and as she covered the remaining distance Gabrielle’s heart pounded, reaching up she entrapped the biggest cupcake in her hand. Believing her work to be done she turned to go, no longer conscious of being sneaky. “Hold this minute!” A voice shouted across the kitchen, Gabrielle stopped in a heartbeat and turned, there stood the School Cook, in all her glory. Gabrielle smiled, bobbed a curtsy and licked the top of her cupcake. “Have a good day ma’am!” And she left fleeing the kitchen, leaving behind her two very practical, black school issued shoes.

Georgette looked up from the map she had used to find this place. This beautiful unspoiled sanctuary of love and peace. She rolled the map back into place and tapped it with her magic wand and whispered “Mischief Managed.” The ink slowly faded away as she dropped the map and entered what would be her eternal paradise. Her white hair blew in the wind and her nightgown fluttered, rising above her ankles to revealed knobbly knees. As she walked farther into her Shangri-La, her hair darkened, her skin glowed with a certain youthful abandon, and her knobbly knees turned into that of a young 18 year old. She turned with one glance behind her, smiled, and yelled at the top of her lungs “Mischief Managed!!!”

Georgette’s family cried as their matriarch closed her eyes for the last time, with a smile upon her face. She was 106 years old, had done all she wished in her lifetime, and had another life to live and fulfill.

Slowly the lights clicked off in the large arena. Dimming circus music faded in the distance and the midnight blue sky shown through the sheer tent. Her hands twisted tightly around the acrobat swing’s ropes and her body began swaying. Faster and faster, the swing tilted back and forth in the darkness. Cassandra knew the ring master would be back soon for the top hat she adorned on top of her dark brunette curls, but the height made her stomach flip and twirl in excitement. Just before her fingertips touched the sky, that top hat plummeted to the center of the ring, glimmering in pure starlight. And there was nothing but an empty creaking swing and a shooting star left as the audience.

Faye bit on the edge of her pen in her cubicle as her co-workers bustled about preparing for another office party. Her gray wool dress was starting to itch as she typed and squinted at the buzzing computer. No one knew that her black rimmed glasses had glitter around the ear pieces. They also didn’t notice the turquoise slip that could be seen when she crossed her legs. This was the little secret life that only her special people were privy to. Luckily it was invisible to anyone else. “We’re missing one,” a co-worker said, as he pointed to an empty spot on the cupcake tray. Faye licked a piece of pink frosting off her finger, tucked the turquoise slip back in and continued typing.

I will never get this spell right on time!

Irena was desperate. The Pink Ball of the Crystal College for Young Witches started in less than an hour, and she still hadn’t managed to get the perfect color she wanted for her gown! It was a disaster of epic propotions; and to think that this was one of the few times of the year when the boys from the neighboring school were allowed to attend the dance!

No, I will not give up!

Determined to get it right this time, Irena used the last trick up her sleeve. One little word she hadn’t even uttered since she was a little girl, but that always seemed to get her out of trouble in her younger years.

“Here goes nothing…” she said to herself, before releasing her power and yelling “Abracadabra!”.

Irena kept her eyes closed, and send a silent prayer that the spell had worked. As she looked ahead, the last of the hot pink magic sparkles were dying out, and there stood in all its glory her perfect brown dress… that was now a breath-taking fuchsia color with beautiful glitter that was guaranteed to catch everybody’s eye… and hopefully the prince’s too!

Full of glee, Irena tried on her dress and looked at herself in the mirror. Dabbing some matching eyeshadow on her eyelids, she blew a kiss to her reflection and got ready to steal the spotlight.

She fastened the grappling hook onto the ledge, peering into the window. The bright glint of the jewel met her eye. It was enough to banish all doubt from her mind. She wanted it, and there was nothing to stop her from having it. Carefully she cut a hole in the glass window, just large enough to fit herself through. She stepped into the pale pink room, her pink vinyl catsuit acting as the perfect camouflage. With a delicate eye and a steady hand she reached for the jewel, wary of any alarms. Quietly she crawled back through the window and began lowering herself to the ground. Pocketing the Pink Cupcake Diamond with a sly grin on her face, she strutted down the street completely unafraid of capture.

Eileen never felt like she belonged in the engineer’s society. Required to wear all grey so as to blend in with the machines she and the others worked on, she felt stifled. Her brain, smart as it was, hated the slow, plodding calculations that her hands were forced to complete. Her heart longed to explode in color and words…to bring beauty into these dull lives.

One atypical morning, the sun shone stunningly, filling Eileen’s just waking blue eyes with confidence. Deep in her closet, among all the grey, hid a bright turquoise dress of pouty taffeta and satin. Her fingers brushed over the fabric, and her heart pounded. A sense of mischief and nervousness overwhelmed her, and in a daring move, she quickly donned the contraband piece. Silver pumps and a swift dash of makeup later, she was ready. Grabbing her years of unread poetry, she walked through the streets to the factory.

Her entrance was brilliant and noticed. With a loud and lovely voice, she spoke for the first time in years…the words rang over the deafening machines, inspiring the other engineers to gaze upon the blue angel who had intruded upon their boredom. Getting up, they followed the azure rebel through the machines to the exit…following the sound of the troubadour’s voice into the waiting sunshine.

Hearing her sister climbing the stairs to her bedroom, she quickly scurried to the closet, and waited with baited breath. Silvia had always wanted to be able to pull the rabbit out of the hat. Since she was little, she had snuck into the local magician’s parlor to watch him reach into his endless black top hat and return with a rabbit of the purest white. Silvia knew how to do it…or so she thought. Her heart swarmed with magic, and she knew she could perform with ease. To only find a top hat…

Walking through a popular and glamorous new shoppe, she found it: a top hat clad in the most luxurious pink satin she had ever seen. The color reminded her of a display of the most exotic flowers from the furthest reaches of the world. Her favorite had been the brilliant pink orchids from an unknown and dangerous jungle. The hat was perfect.

Right there in the store with no regard to the other customers, she turned the hat over and gazed into its dark depths. Determined, she thought “Abracadabra!” Her knowledgeable hand reached inside and felt a handful of soft fur. Gripping firmly, she pulled a snow white rabbit with blue eyes out of the pink hat. The shoppers gazed upon her in wonder and applauded enthusiastically. Silvia’s heart swelled with pride as she held her magical discovery.

She hid it behind hats, she hid it behind hair bands; She found every possible way to hide the natural beauty of her hair. It looked beautiful with her fair skin and deep blue eyes but in a world where everyone looks the same, her hair was nowhere near perfect or so, some would say. She cried and cried until her blue eyes were puffy and her cheeks tear stained but this wouldn’t make the self-consciousness go away. She had tried to dye her hair many different shades but her hair would simply go back to her rainbow natural shine. She was a fairy different from all and that was torture or so she thought until one day she realized how boring same really was. So she wore it down and up and curled and straight and it glowed under the hot summer sun and her undeniable beauty stood out from all, even in shades no one had dared to try before.

Fiona was always one for a little mischief. Sitting one day in her dull geography class, she came up with a devious plan. Her boarding school’s Valentine’s Day Dance was this Saturday outside on the expansive green lawn. This was the only time of year that she would see her love, Fiyero. His boarding school came to participate every year in the festive, but high-collared and strained, event. She knew he wouldn’t disapprove of her display of rebellion. Speaking with a few of her closest friends, they formulated the ideas for their spectacular night. The next few days passed quickly as they finished her plan.

The night of the dance, Fiona dressed in a beautiful emerald dress made of taffeta and ruffles and a pair of silver glitter pumps. She stood out among the mass of pink and red dresses and ties. Her arm length silver gloves were soon accompanied by the strong arms of her Fiyero as he snuck up behind her. He smiled and she whispered, “Have I got a surprise for you…” He looked puzzled, and Fiona signaled her friend off on the edge of the dance floor. Not a minute later, a loud explosion battered the dancer’s ears and the sky lit up with bright green streaks of fireworks. The students cheered, the headmistress gasped, and Fiona smiled at her love as he whispered, “They match your dress…” The two giggled as they stole away into the nearby garden unnoticed.

    Top Hattie

Hattie had always wanted to perform on the big stage. Her voice could match the volume of the large auditoriums, and with every touring musician who came to town, her longing to sing for anyone who would hear grew exponentially. It seemed she would never be heard…

One day, a flyer blew by her feet with a passing breeze, and her foot stopped it. She gazed upon the paper underneath her white ballet flats, and her eyes grew wide. A local talent contest! Her adrenaline rushed as her mind began flipping through years of music she had memorized and created into her own work of art. As she ran home to prepare, for the contest was that very evening, she chose the song that would test her voice, but also make it shine. She pulled out the dress she had been saving for such an event as this: a long, slinky sheath of white, flecked with diamonds. It had been her mother’s favorite dress from her opera days, and Hattie felt sure it would help her this night.

Waiting nervously behind the wings, Hattie wrung her hands and played the song in her mind. She was to perform a cappella, for there were no pianists who knew her original composition. It was finally her turn, and she walked out onto the empty stage. The stage lights shone so bright, she couldn’t see her audience. Feeling alone, she closed her eyes and sang. Her voice rang with clarity and beauty, rising and falling like a swan over a silver lake. As her last note echoed throughout the large room, the house lights rose and her audience rose with an ecstatic standing ovation, applauding Hattie as she bowed. She knew now that she was on top and finally on her way to achieving her dream.

Chelsea gazed longingly at the little bakery shoppe across the way from her bookstore. The dusty tomes that surrounded her filled her nose with the strong scent of old ink and paper, untouched by customers in such a long while. The pretty pink and white décor of the shoppe began to inspire her, and her mind ran wild with one fantasy…

Outraged at the price of the pretty, flirty pink cupcakes in the shoppe’s window, courageous Chelsea would teach the shoppe a lesson for keeping such sweets out of her financial reach. One night, she would don her skintight black catsuit and steal into the shoppe. Once she found the shelf upon which the cakes were located, she would unload her own cupcake tins and quickly place the fluffy cupcakes inside. Once she felt her sweet tooth would be satisfied with the amount, she would walk confidently out the store with a tin in each hand, her newly acquired cupcakes safely in her grasp. Upon arrival home she would sink her luscious lips into the sugary frosting and her taste buds could finally be satiated…

The bell over the door clanged and snapped Chelsea out of her dream. A curious, but handsome, young man dressed smartly in a suit with a pink tie approached the quiet bookworm and handed her the very same cupcake she had just been dreaming about eating. Her blue eyes sparkled behind her glasses with delight and wonder at how this young man could have known. He then stated with a wink, “Chelsea, you no longer need to dream about them…I own that shoppe I see you staring at all day. I’ll be your Cupcake Thief.”

Little Ela was only 3 years old, but she was wise beyond her years. She was bored with the mundane things that interested other girls her age.Unfortunately that caused her to get into more trouble than any other toddler in the village. Due to this and the fact that she always wore green, she was more commonly known as “The Mischief Imp.”
She outdid herself on the day before the town festival. When everyone was busy decorating, she got a hold of a box full of glitter that was intended for the banner. She ran around through the streets with unscrewed bottles of glitter until most of main street was full of sparkles.Instead of anger, the townsfolk said that it was the most beautiful sights they had watched the sunlight bounce off the glitter and gleam.

After being turned down once again, a woman walked out from a store and pointed out that she one of the strings of her guitar was broken. She offered to fix her guitar free of charge. Layla hesitantly gave her the guitar and followed her into the shop. The woman laid the guitar on the counter and waved her hand over it. A flashing light of sky blue and shimmers came out from the woman’s hand and covered the guitar. Layla looked away and when she opened her eyes the shop was gone and she was standing on the middle of the sidewalk holding her guitar, only it was bright blue and shimmered in the sun. She began to play right then and there. Everyone near her rushed to listen to her music and cheered and crowded around her. A smile spread throughout her lips as she sang her newest song “Troubadour.”

    “Cupcake Thief”

Strawberry pink lemonade cupcakes were Nieva’s speciality. Frosted with sugar and love and left on the table to show off and tempt who they may. Little did she know there was a lesson to learn from this.

Pixie was a fluffy, white angora bunny known to cause mischief through Nieva’s home. The next time Nieva stepped into her flowery kitchen, her pink lemonade goodies were gone! Left on her tulip-shaped table was nothing more than pink sugar dust, which she licked up, grieving for the lost of her baked happiness…

    Mischief Managed

Lyla really liked that boy. He was handsome and kind, and everything she wanted. But he was a nerd, and if a girl like her was with a guy like him…the whole status quo would be totally mangled.

One day, she saw him sitting under a tree with his nerdy books and geeky glasses. Lyla would wait no longer. She waltzed up to him, and for a second could only stare at the dewy green grass under her shoes. Then she planted a kiss firmly on his lips, turned around on her heel, and skipped back to her friends with a grin plastered on her face. Mischief managed!

    “Cupcake Thief”
The clock stuck midnight as Athena climbed through the window of the bakery, silent as a cat. Her 12 inch Jimmy Choos made no sound as she tiptoed across the room, her eyes fixed on her prize. Leaping swiftly from counter to counter she disabled the security systems, laser beams, and knocked out the guards. Finally she had reached her prize. Lit up in a hazy pink beam of light she grabbed the fairy’s last cupcake and laughed; the cupcake thief had struck again!

    Cupcake thief:
Gwenyth knew time was running out. The security guard would be back any minute and she had no time to waste. She delicately grabbed the diamond encrusted crown from it’s beautiful case and ran towards her escape route before the alarm rang, of course. Less than five seconds later a fiery security guard ran to the case that had pertained the crown. All that was left was a cupcake with the initials “CT” spelled out on top of the white icing in what looked like sparkly pink dust. The guard growled and closed the case because he knew that the world famous cupcake thief would never be caught…

    Abracadabra:
Laurel grasped the tight rope that she was held onto. Her adreneline was kicking into high gear. She looked out on the stage and saw the glittering lights from below. The announcer cracked his whip and off went Laurel. She flew through the air and landed gently on the center of the stage. The entire act took only a few moments but Laurel could still feel the blood rushing through her veins. Next to her was a holographic box with her favorite animal, the unicorn, stamped across it. She climbed inside and closed her eyes, this was the moment she had been waiting for. She heard her assistant yell “abracadbra” for that word did wonderful things once you entered inside the rainbow striped tent. The audience grew suprised and amazed at Laurel’s magical dissapearing act. As she turned to walk backstage she caught a quick glimpse of herself in a small mirror and could see that the actual magic happening was within herself.

Her dark hair shimmered in the bright white spotlight as the magenta curtains glided open. The audience roared with applause. Qartura unfurled her sequined cape and lifted her magician’s wand. Her blue-white teeth glinted as she grinned as wide as the Cheshire cat. She shouted “Abracadabra!” and threw magic dust in the air. Out of the dust a bright pink unicorn burst forth and the magical night began!

Hexia wasn’t scared: she was the best singer she knew. Her voice was like wind through a honey-colored meadow. With her turquoise-netted tutu and her golden tresses she was absolutely irresistable. Hexia pulled out her signature red microphone and belted out an original ballad. The record company managers’ jaws literally dropped as they listened with awe to her sugar-sweet notes. Hexia couldn’t stop herself from laughing with triumph as she signed a contract in turquoise ink with Troubadour Records.

    Troubadour
Ellie and Sam always slowed their pace when they passed by her on their way home from work, that lonely girl at the end of the alley. Her violin screeching out into the night like a pack of hunting whales as she dragged her bow wretchedly across the glimmering strings. They alone found her music as entrancing as her effervescent turquoise skin the other locals ostracized her for. As they drew to a stop, the girl’s glowing eyes lifted with un-restrainable passion as she burst out in a song so heartfelt they could feel the pulsing of her blood keeping beat with her warbling cries. Lighting cracked though the sheets of rain as the as she rose into the air, skin swimming with every shade of blue as she belted out her ballads of another world, the one she had lost forever, the one that had left her stranded on this planet. She whirled with emotions as she hit reverberating notes no human being could manage as Ellie and Sam looked on, unwittingly playing audience to Sea City’s only interstellar troubadour.

    Cupcake Thief
“Oh darling, don’t bother.” He warned with a triumphant smirk as he brandished the confection on his pale palm. “I won. I stole the world’s most valuable cupcake. Just look at it. Jealous, aren’t you? Pink diamond sprinkles you know, and genuine opal frosting. But remarkably still edible!” He added, dipping a pinky finger delicately into the edge of the glimmering frosting for a little taste. Tania smoldered. How dare he maim such a culinary masterpiece like that! ‘I ought to smear that frosting all over his shiny pin stripe suit until it’s stained if he’s going to waste it anyway.’ She thought to herself as she marched over to him in her stacked pink heels. “Oh, stick a birthday candle in it. You always knew you were second best to me. That’s what this is all about! You always try to outdo me. I steal a vanilla cupcake, you steal a strawberry. I steal the world’s largest jar of sprinkles, you hold up a frosting factory. Silly boy, can’t you see how ridiculous this is? So you one up me in the end, big deal! The point is that I always set the bar, I’m always the original. You are just a copy cat!” she hissed, pressing her finger into his expensively tailored suit to make her point.
He battered his big blue eyes in shock. “How can you say that?” He whimpered. “I outsmarted endless security to get this little beauty!” Tania reigned in the unladylike urge to spit at him. It would ruin her lipstick, which matched her shoes and well, you get the point. The whole outfit goes down the drain. “Yeah, alright,” she countered. “You won. You are the top cupcake thief.” He glowed. “But you still aren’t as good as me.” Her smile widened menacingly. “I’m changing up the game, my dear. I quit the cupcake thief business. I am now…” she paused to watch with pleasure as the metal bars dropped soundlessly all around him. She wanted to remember his face when he realized there was no way out of her little cage. “I am now, a cupcake thief thief.”

    I wrote three! :)
Will post them in separate comments… First – for TROUBADOUR:

    Sometime in the Candyfuture,
Will live a little, pretty creature.
    Sitting on a forest rock,
Playing the lute around the clock.
    This, a magic faerie blue,
Writes a song to enchant you.
And if you thought faeries were only folklore,
It means you haven’t met this Troubadour…
    Afterwards you will believe,
Of your doubt she will Relieve.

  • Hilde says:

    For MISCHIEF MANAGED:

Deep in the green, green forest lived an elf. Her name was Mary Anne.
She was a Mischieveous little creature, always out to her tricks. Once she
met a man called Dave, whom she wanted to fool a bit. She lured him into
the deepest forest – He was lost, and there he wandered. But when he started
crying tears from his deep green eyes, Mary Anne got sad as well, and showed him
the way home. That was the last piece of Mischief she ever Managed to do.

  • Hilde says:

    And for TOP HATTIE:

Victoria was an appropriately dressed woman. She always wore her white dress nicely,
with proper shoes and her hair tied up in a bow. But she always looked at the men’s clothes
and wished that she had, too, a top hat taller than her head to wear with what she chose. So
one day she went out to town, and into a shop where they sold those hats. The manager laughed
at her when she pointed at a tall, white hat… And said: “That’s the Top Hattie I want!” From that
day on she didn’t care when people laughed at her beautiful hat – to her, the hat was as beautiful
    as a sparkly diamond necklace.
