This was featured on MTV Buzzworthy. They wanted me to talk about celebrity trends and create a look based on one (I was terrified because I’ve never done a video tutorial before!). I chose my favorite trend – dark eye + statement lipstick, as seen on Rihanna, Katy Perry, partially Adam Lambert and of course my favorite, Lady Gaga. Here you go!

Eyes: Elf magic dust | Lips: Countessa Fluorescent lipstick, which is even brighter in real life!

Hay!
If I want to order your lipsticks… how do I do? I live in Sweden so do you ship there? :)
Best regrets!

Yep, we ship worldwide. You can order directly from http://www.limecrimemakeup.com.
I like this tutorial a lot. You should do more video tutorials! I also really love your hair in this video. :D

Thanks! I’ve been wearing my hair up a lot lately. It’s getting sooo long but I’m not cutting it off until I use it for this one project. :)
You did a great job on this video, I’ll have to go try this look! I was wanting to do something fun like that today.
I really love this look. And I tried the black lips today. I don’t have black lipstick so it looked weird. And I hope to buy some lipsticks!
I love the look!
how often do u dye your hair to keep it so bright red?

She talks about that in the F.A.Q. (link top of page) unless she’s changed methods.

I do touch-ups every month, and complete over-dye once every two months.
i love this tutorial!
and you are SO PRETTY!!!!

Ooh! I love this video! Yow should make more tutorials like this. It’s nice to be able to watch your application step-by-step.

Ok, more video tutorials, it is! :)
OMG kitty. *wants*
Wow…
I really like this tutorial.
You should definately thinking about doing more video tutorials in the future. =]
That was a really well done video! (and your accent is so cute)
I use MAC gel liners with a much thicker brush…where did you get that brush (or better yet, what’s it called)?
That was a great tutorial. I loved the cat. You looked fantastic
Great tutorial. You should do these often. You are really good at it…
Wow, mega gorgeous! I am so trying this out!
I LOVE these videos! Please make more! I love watching them!

You got it!
Very nice… I like the video style tutorial, although it does mess with the color a little… I like that you included the still photo as part of the video, because that was a more accurate representation than what the more yellowed lighting showed. Uck, I want all your lipsticks! Argh!
very awesome first video tutorial! definitely love your cheeky credits. :3
You are so adorable. Not everyone would use their cats in a video for MTV. I LOVE it. Thank you for being so absolutely 100% real. :)

My kitties play such a huge role in my life. I spend most of my days either kissing/petting them or stressing out about their well-being in one way or another. Haha!
Wow. I really like this. I am absolutely NOT a lipstick person. However, ever since I came across your website randomly, I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m just afraid that some of those pinks won’t look good with my skin tone. (I have light complexion with yellow undertones). Anyone with that combination try any of the pinks and what do you think?

I’m working on the expansion collection, which will include some “I’m afraid of lipstick! help!” colors. :)

I’m Asian with a fair complexion and yellow undertones and I love the way Great Pink Planet looks on me. I have darker lips so I often apply light foundation to my lips before applying lipstick and I love the result.
You must have been reading my mind today! This is exactly the kind of look i was searching for. (^_^)

But… but… you weren’t supposed to find out! About the mind-reading thing.
You’re so amazing Doe! I wish you didn’t live so far away! I’d love to just hangout with you for a day and talk makeup with someone who loves it as much as I do :)))
I think you did a fabulous job in your video, and you might’ve just sold me on Countessa Fluorescent…
Lots of love darling Doe!

Haha, it’s quite dangerous to get me started on makeup ;)
This is beautiful, Doe! I may do this tomorrow! You should do more of these kinds of tutorials. I learn best by watching someone do it.
Your kitty is so cute! He reminds me of a big fluffball. :)

Alison, I think they’re Persians.
Oh so thais is why the comments were disabled on youtube. I’d been waiting for a video tutorial for a while and was so happy when you made one. I like the ideas of using a lip brush under your eyes; It’s perfect. I think the lip symetry tip will help as well. My favourite part were your kitties and how you put them in the credits.
One thing I left a comment about this on your youtube page but just in case: why does countessaflourescent look completely different in the video than in the pictures? Which is most accurate. Its much more neon and a different color (salmonish neon pink?.
Doe Deere Reply:

Countessa Fluorescent is a borderline neon pink. As with most neons, it’s notoriously difficult to capture on video. Photos show it more accurately. Suffice to say, it’s very, VERY bright Barbie pink!
I tried this today!
My roommate and I were walking to the skytrain earlier and these guys were all like, “There they are!” and patted us on the shoulder and said we looked great. Weird but awesome at the same time!
I think the video tutorial is awesome. You did great, and I hope to see more video tutorials from you in the future.
I like that you put your cats in the credits. They are so cute!
Hey Hey❤✿ awesome, see good things will always come your way no matter what!…love the fast forward part, lol funny!

Deer doe deere,
it was so good to hear your voice for one time! haha, I’m always wondering how your voice would sound, and now I know it!
the tutorial looked really nice,
and your kitty was at its best as a ‘guestplayer’ =)

Ohhh, finally a look using Countessa Fluorescent! I ordered mine two days ago, and I am SO excited~! GLEE in a tube!
You’re getting more and more exposure every day, Doe! Soon the world will be your Candy Future! I for one, cannot wait for that day!

Yes yes that’s the plan. Reality –> Candyfuture!
I LOVE my airbourne unicorn lipstick doe! it’s the best lippy ever! and now i’m even more excited about countessa :-)
and please tell me what brush your using for the eyeliner – all the ones i’ve seen aren’t precise enough

hmm, is it the mac 210 brush? ‘cos I have that one and it STILL won’t go on slim enough :-( my technique must be wrong, my eye liner always looks so thick and heavy, when i’m looking to do it like how you’ve done your top lid here
Doe Deere Reply:
November 14, 2009 at 11:53 am
Have you tried using liquid liners? They come with a foam brush that’s super precise!
rhia Reply:

Yea, my current plan is to use the brush from my prestige liquid liner and use it with black track – the gel liners are easier to control I find
oh girl, I want your nail polish!!! :D
I’ve always preferred video make up tutorials because it’s nice to see how the artists apply the products and learn from it! ;)
I love this look but i’m wearing quite narrow kelly green spectacles and i wonder maybe it would be too much :/ i may try it to see if i can pull it off :)
I think your next product should be nail colors! yellow and baby blue and creamy orange nail colors! :D
I do wish you’d gone crazier, maybe more Gaga, but all right.
I totally agree with several others who have already commented. I LOVED the video tutorial. Even though the look was relatively simple and your written tutorials are always very in-depth with who the make-up would preferrably be applied, watching you go through the step-by-step process makes it so much easier (at least for me) to see exactly how the look is supposed to go on. I really hope you’ll do more videos like these in the future! <3
you’re dropdead gorious..-humpf-
realy, but you should do more video tutorials, they are realy good!
and i adore your cat.. he’s so cute
I don’t see the Rihanna and I definitely don’t see the Lady Gaga. Did you just throw those names at random?

i love it! you should do more video tutorials!
Wow, definately more video tutorials! That was awesome!
I’m so excited I ordered some of your lipsticks :)
I saw your tutorial in “Gothic Beauty”! I was hoping you would show up in there.

Hey, thanks! I made that tutorial back in JULY – so glad it’s finally out. Craziness!
I think you should work on making a line of face paints, like high quality and vegan stuff for stage effects and stuff. I’m vegan and I’m finding it hard to find a completely vegan [including no animal testing] line to use for my work. I think it would be an interesting addition to your brand. =]

For some reason I find the look quite boring..
I don’t see nor Rihanna nor Lady GaGa in it.
hey Doe, I saw you in Gothic Beauty when i was at the bookstore today. I might just try blue lipstick now :)
You were once asking about what other colors we would like to see. Yellow! And more orange. And all of those colors, that aren’t popula, maybe different shades of purple an lavender. And silver;)
Greets from Europe:) xo
I just want to make a recommendation if you plan on doing further video tutorials (which are fantastic, by the way, and much easier for me to understand than trying to comprehend the verbal instructions). You might want to use more natural light or white softboxes to light your face during the filming; it will make your face glow like it does in many of your photos and give you a more natural skin tone than the lighting you used in the video. There seemed to be a change in lighting between the actual tutorial and the final 15 seconds or so, and you looked a lot better in the last few seconds.
Rihanna is the best singer in my opinion, she has a very good voice, a beautiful face and a very sexy body.
I really love Rihanna. She makes a music that is my kind of music. She is pretty and sexy too.
.
What nail polish is that? It’s awesome!
Great tutorial, I can’t wait to get some more of your make up so I can try it out :)
good blog. thank you this wonderful publish. i love lots.
