Packing was never my favorite thing to do but this time, it’s different: I’m packing smart. I might regret it later, but here goes: I’m bringing fewer clothes and ‘stretching’ each piece to its maximum capacity. I know that during this trip I’m going to need casual, semi-formal and leisure outfits. I feel like a sartorial escape artist! For the next 10 days I will be living out of:
- 3 dresses
- 1 skirt
- 1 shrug
- 1 cardigan
- 1 jacket
- 3 pairs of tights/leggings
- 2 pairs of heels + keds
- a handful of accessories.
Can I make it work? I don’t know! But I’ll be posting pictures for everyone to see, no matter how good or disastrous an outfit!
In other news, the reason for this trip is our tour in support of Lime Crime’s launch at SpaceNK. I’m SUPER-stoked to see everyone in LA & San Francisco! I look forward to doing lipstick consultations and smiling for lotsa pictures!

- San Francisco – May 25, 4-7 pm | 845 Market Street

So excited to see you in LA!!!
awwww I wish I could be somewhere that you’re touring, the event in London looked like loads of fun!
I’m curious to see how you turn out with what you packed. I hate packing as well because I always pack WAY to much stuff, and I never know how to limit or structure myself. but now I have an idea :D can’t wait to see all the pics! lol
Ohhh wow i can’t wait to see what outfits you will put together. I also dislike packing, I always try to lack for the weather! Imagine if I got stuck in the cold and I didn’t pack a coat!!
Enjoy the trip!
Your packing philosophy reminds me of an old fairytale about a girl who gets kicked out of her house and runs away with only three dresses. She goes to the local castle for a job and when a festival is held, she wears the dresses to the ball all three nights, each more beautiful than the last. In the end, she marries the prince, but I like the story more for the fashion fantasy! I can not wait to see you on Saturday! I really can’t decide which lipstick to try: centrifuschia or d’lilac?

Ohhh~
I know that story! I think it’s called ‘Le Peau d’Âne” in french…
(sorry for the shockingly random comment, ha ha)
Hooray! I’ll be able to make it to San Francisco and I just converted a friend so she’ll be coming along too! Also hopefully the weather will be in your favor, it’s been a little crazy here lately.
See you in LA!! I need to go shopping for something super fantastic to greet you with,… to the mall!!
Ahh! I wish I could see you when you visit LA, but I’m working all of the 22.
:’(
eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! i’m excited what you put together with your limited items!! :D

Black & white & roses!
While you’re visiting fam in Sacramento you should make a stop in the cute little town of Davis! If you’ve never been, it’s just a little college town, and Downtown Davis (which consists of about one mile of a few very small streets) has tons of cute little independent boutiques!
I’d squee from joy if I saw you walking around Davis! :D
I LOVE the capsule wardrobe! When I pack I choose a colour palette and have everything co-ordinated…but then I quite like things ‘matchy-matchy’! When I went to Morrocco I had a ‘hot’ wardrobe of reds, browns, orange and pinks!
I am sure you will make it more than ‘work’ in your wonderfull way as always!
Have a good trip!
I always try to pack light, and always fail.
You can do it with that wardrobe. If Sheena Matheiken can wear one dress for a whole year(http://www.theuniformproject.com/) then you can survive with those items.
And if you haven’t heard of Uniform Project you should check it out. It’s an exercise in sustainable fashion and it also helped raise money for Akanksha Foundation (foundation that helps kids in the slums of India go to school). It’s amazing how many different ways she was able to style the dress with layering and accessories. Very inspiring.
Los Angeles ? if you see Mosh make her a kiss from me ! -here is an american expression for that ? sounds better in french! haha-
So sad I’ll be missing you in my gorgeous hometown of L.A.! I will definitely be heading to SpaceNK when I’m home again to stock up on all my colorful favorites. Have fun and best of luck with the strategic packing, I’m looking forward to hearing how it all works out!
You were mentioned briefly in Star magazine this week (page 74 of this issue with “best and Worst beach bodies” on the cover)! They had a blurb about SpaceNK and it said ‘You can also pick up unique products never before seen stateside from brands like Elemental Herbology and Lime Crime.” A little wrong, but still congrats on being mentioned!
Good luck on the trip. If you roll the clothes not fold them you can fit more and they arrive less creased. I used to travel a lot and found this tip useful. Roll all the items up very tight, it really fits a lot more into a case.
Enjoy your success!
Jill
I definitely wanna see how that works out, I’m a terrible overpacker.
Can’t wait for the SF launch!
Hey, no knickers? ;P
I always forget to pack that and always end up having to buy underwear… can be quite fun actually.
oooo! I’m trying SUPER hard to be able to make it to the SF Launch! I’m planning on getting D’Lilac and No She didn’t! I tested them last weekend in Bloomingdales and LOVED them. I figured that I would wait till you got here to buy them!
<33
i wanna meet you soooooooo bad. but im doing face painting for a picnic, then seee ing my grandfather :((((((((((((((((((
I’m reading through your list of clothing and saying out loud how badass you are! :p That is a very small list. I’ve always been a huge overpacker and envy anyone who can make minimalist packing work. I tried on my most recent trip to reduce the amount of stuff I brought by packing it in one of those camping compression bags. It worked seriously well, but was still pretty heavy.
Congratulations on your launch!
I’m so excited that you will be in SF tomorrow! I get off at six and am hoping to go down to Westfield Mall and meet you! I started following you years ago on Livejournal and am excited that you are in this neck of the woods!
