I'm sad to say I have a very poor sense of smell (taste as well, although my touch, hearing and sight senses seem to be more acute), so perfume's never really done much for me... and my lack of smell only makes things worse. Often, by the time I can smell my perfume, it's so much I can't leave the house (or my room. The shame! Eek! >.<). I have tried out a few perfumes though, and I LOVE Ralph Lauren's (the scent that came out before Hot, with the blue design on the bottle... I forget); that one perfume is possibly the only one I've ever worn frequently. So I'm afraid I'm missing out on this whole perfume business; as well as a lot of other smell-related fields (cooking, anyone? Not my strong suit.:( It's difficult, time-consuming, and the smells nor tastes excite me. Not very rewarding).

Guess I'm the only one, but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyway...

I fail to see the point of perfume. The majority of them don't smell good to me at all. I just think they're a waste of money/resources.

I change perfume usually when I break up with someone. Scent is to me like a boye in life's ocean, I keep tying my boat to safe places, the boye's I know.

I'm intruiged by your awareness of smell, as I had a similar revelation towards odour like you just had! I smell all kinds of things - and remember them!

Haha, I like Escada's Ibiza Hippie. It's strange, I dress in Invader Zim t-shirts, dark jeans, and leather ankle boots, but smell like fruit and patchouli. I got a pack of five miniatures for my birthday one year(Into the Blue, Magnetism, Pacific Paradise, Sentiment, & Signature), and I loved all of them. Escada is now my favorite of all time. And since this got me looking them up again, I find that I actually -do- like the box art on some of them, haha.

As for buying the first Escada, it smelled delicious and the bottle was pretty(frosted magenta on top turning to clear lavender on the bottom). Plus, I'm a sucker for hearts.

My favourite perfume is Toxic Poison By Christian Dior. My old Best asked for it for christmas i believe, several years ago. It was hypnotic i was instantly addicted to the scent. When i was at her house I'd find myself standing by her dresser where it sat inhaling the irresistible fumes as we "hung out".

But what made this story appealing to me is also what made it a bit frightening. I too have a bizarre sense of smell. It only came about recently maybe the past 2-3 years. I wonder if its due to my bad hearing (sinus issues) and the fact that I've needed new glasses for several years. Maybe my nose is compensating for my loss of other senses the way it happens with blind or deaf people. Its a fun thing at times, i often feel like I have a super power lol. If someone says "whats that smell" and "where's it coming from" I always know the answer. I can smell things that no one in my family besides my dog can and pick up on beautiful scents in things like plants and food that seem to be min alone to treasure. But it has it's downfalls if someone uses the bathroom or farts I immediately pull my shirt over my face and often have to leave the room. Its torturous, it's very good i don't vomit easily!
