Style Diary: Believer Brunch
Category: Style Diary, Unicorn Queen

Left to right: Carol our PR agent, mom, Ralph the laywer, me, Kat
Last Saturday me and my team got together at Alice’s Tea Cup for a small celebration of our lipstick launch. In the beginning of any business venture, there is always a dream -and it takes a dedicated group of believers to make this dream a reality. The Believer Brunch was dedicated to the people who believed in us from the start – my mother, Kat, our PR agent Carol, fierce lawyer and great friend Ralph, my assistant Erica and of course Mark!

World, meet Erica: leader of Team Candyfuture!

I love working with my husband!! He is the best business partner I could ever ask for.

Ralph

As we were about to leave, I was approached by a fan. Her name is a Alison and she is incredibly cute!
Part of my job as head of the company is to lead and inspire, so boring outfits are not allowed. ;) I went shopping especially for the occasion & found the most spectacular dress in the world! Doesn’t it scream “eccentric” and “business woman” at the same time?? I wore it with black polka dot tights and my patent ‘frame’ heels. Ooh la la!

- Dress: vintage
- Tights: not sure
- Shoes: Nine West
- Purse: Hollywould
- Key necklace: Claire’s
- Coat: from a small Asian boutique in Brooklyn

Ooh, I am loving that coat! And that lipstick you’re wearing… is it a Lime Crime lipstick? I can’t seem to recognize it!

Who says redheads can’t wear pink? You always pull it off beautifully!

people say that? O.o That’s weird I always looked good(for me) in pink and I’m a redhead.

I think what they mean is that pink can bring out reddish undertones in our skin. Well, first of all not all redheads are cool-toned, some have yellowish skin. And even if it did, so what!

It does the opposite for me.I’m cool toned,it makes the pink in my skin seeem like nothing compared to the pigment of the clothing. Beige tends to do that to me.

I have very dark auburn hair and I love wearing pink clothes/makeup. I think the two look like raspberries and peaches or strawberries together. (One of my favorite looks to wear is an intense pink smokey eye.) I think that rule is complete BS, as you can see Doe looks beautiful in pink!

Oooh I love your neclace! *runs off to claires*
OMG it’s a fellow deerling Allison lol. I didn’t know there were so many employees. I figured for a while now you didn’t have mark packing dusts into bubblewrap envelopes like crazy while you blogged. (or maybe he is lol) but i wondered how it worked. I guess the idea that you were a normal company with employees kept slipping out of my mind in favor of the idea of the image of you sitting around your apartment packing my order. ha ha It’s just such a cute image.

Actually, that’s exactly how it was right up until now! We were all packing orders up in my attic, listening to music and having a blast. I’ll miss those times… :)

Kat doesn’t play a constant role in the company yet, she just bombards me with ‘opportunity’ emails day and night!! Oh, and acts as a human spell checker on the blog. ;)

I could never do this, it scares me (and I am older than you: 31!): making a business, having employees / people whom I tell what to do… I am much more solitary, I like to do everything myself.
And that is why I admire you: you always show yourself positive, you have energy and courage.
So, cheers for your business!!!

I know what you mean actually. I’m naturally the same way, very autonomous, to the point of being a control freak. It’s hard to let go of the reigns sometimes but I must admit, having a team of people work with you is a lot of fun!

I definitely squealed when I saw this post. lol You just keep making my day, Doe! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to meet someone. My boyfriend and I weren’t even supposed to be there on that day or time, but we changed our plans at the last minute. I’m glad we did!
I love the outfit. The dress is so pretty and the color looks awesome on you. You looked even more stunning in person. I am ashamed to say I didn’t even notice the shoes. They are my favorite, too! I was clearly distracted. lol Also, I was super pleased when you applied your lip gloss at the table like you say you do. Sorry, I was staring. lol I think my boyfriend thought I forgot about him. :D
Your mom walked by our table and I gawked at her. She probably thought I was crazy. haha She is so cute. I loved her outfit. My boyfriend was like, “Wow, the whole family is so stylish!” He wanted to know if you got your amazing fashion sense from your mother or if she picked it up from you.
I was debating on whether I wanted to go to Alice’s Tea Cup Chapter II or Chapter III. Obviously, I’m glad we picked Chapter II. Do you frequent both or have a preference for one over the other? The brunch was SO good. I have to go back next time I am in the city.

Oh, I forgot to say something. When you left, the restaurant was quite a-buzz. People wanted to know who you were and what just happened. Some people came over and asked us if you were a TV star. I told them who you were. They seemed disappointed that they didn’t know who you were until after you left.
I guess it’s a good thing I waited until you were about to leave. Otherwise, it might have been chaos. :) (I didn’t want to interrupt you while you were eating. I thought that might be rude.)

Just wanted to note that the picture of you and Mark is totally adorable. You seriously need to do a time-line post of you two! It has been SO cute to watch!
And if you do you HAVE to note your whole style journey together! One of my favourite things about you two as a couple is how you both love drastically changing your styles, and it seems like it’s always together :O)
You’ll hate me bringing it up, but i still remember those hand print jeans you made him, LOL. <3
