Tales of the Unicorn Queen

Style Diary: Ozzy vs Betsey

Category Style Diary

Lately I’m all about mixing the unexpected. I got this pink ruffled dress from Buffalo Exchange -a girly girl’s delight! I happen to be an Ozzy Osbourne fan and think they look cool together in an ironic kind of way! Pair it up with big cat-woman sunglasses and my favorite unicorn heels, and we’ve got a fabulous ensemble!

These were shot in front of a 90 year old Italian granny’s house, who lives next door. :)

I love how my lipstick matches the dress.

  • Cat sunglasses: Girl Props ($14.99, perfect for Halloween!)
  • Dress: Betsey Johnson
  • Belt: vintage
  • Puggy Puggleton purse: thrifted
  • Jeffrey Campbell unicorn heels: SoleStruck
  • Lipstick: Centrifuchsia

I really like the dress, and the ensemble does indeed work in a strange way! lol
    The sunglasses rock!

The only thing I’m not keen on is the belt, in theory it’s a good idea but because of the cut of the dress it creates an odd line, if that makes sense? You are being cinched in at the waist AND under the bust.

I love this look Doe! I tend to mix styles a lot so I’ll have to try something like this. My personal favorite so far is My Chemical Romance meets Disney Princess.

    That sounds great!! :D

I need a picture demonstrating this. It sounds like pure win.

I think Ozzy and Betsey would both like this look!! The glasses are little much for me, but I definitely dig that dress :-)

BTW, is it just me, or does Sharon Osbourne always look FABULOUS!!

  • kaiya says:

oh my wow! i need those sunglasses! where did you get them? i love this look, Doe, and i love Puggy Puggleton too!

    also…
last night i had a dream where i was wearing lime crime makeup, to be exact i was wearing no she didnt and cupcake thief and i was wearing a unicorn dress with matching colours! sorry, i had to share that. but now i wonder if i would actually suit No she didnt…..

    Doe Deere Reply:

Haha, what an awesome dream – especially the unicorn dress part! :)

    My sunglasses are from GirlProps.

  • Tokidoki says:

I love the dress but I don’t love the belt with it. The glasses are cool but I think they are a little over the top for a daytime look. Great for a photoshoot though.

    Must…have…those…sunglasses!

    Doe Deere Reply:

I love ‘em, love them so much that I display them on my bedroom shelf. You can get them at GirlProps. XO

  • Frances says:

I love it!!!!! Every piece is unique, but goes so beautifully together! :)

  • Kristi says:

I personally don’t think this works at all =/

    Allie Reply:

    Seconded. Sorry.
If I work it, I think it would work better minus the sunglasses (and IMO the bag!) and with an underbust belt covering the join between parts of the dress. Makes it look much more expensive!

    Kristi Reply:

Yeah! The sunglasses are extremely costumey. The shoes are fine, but it should coordinate everything. Everything looks so out of place.

    tokidoki Reply:

I agree about the belt part. If the dress you are wearing has a band under the bust a belt on the waist doesn’t work well. For it to look right the belt should be under the bust.

did you use your lipstick as a stain?

you look like cat woman in mania lol

    Doe Deere Reply:

Haha. :) Nope, direct swipe + brush.

    Yessss!

  • Sylvie says:

Love love love!! You look beautiful, with your white skin and the pink and red tones! Here I find again the color genius that I loved in some other photos (those with the apples a long time ago, etc!)… But, why the dog bag? WHY?? lol ;)

    Doe Deere Reply:

Hehe, Puggy Puggleton is my favorite accessory ;)

  • Sylvie says:

Oh, did I mention that I love those crazy sunglasses?? Definitely those are some of my favorite photos Doe!

  • Clara Chérie says:

Incredibly gorgeous Doe! Love the 1st, 2nd and 3rd photo! xx

  • Aura Lit says:

I like it, but I think the belt should be more of a black cinch belt worn a little bit higher… Would be very flattering on your tiny waist!

    Doe Deere Reply:

28″, it’s not that tiny. :) I do agree about the cinch belt though, should look into procuring one…

  • Krystina says:

    Cute look, Doe!
But, I thought that pug was real for a second! lol.
I was thinking, “What is she doing to that poor doggie?!?!,” then I saw your list of where you got everything and realized it was a purse!

    Doe Deere Reply:

You wouldn’t be the first. ;) Puggy causes a lot of confusion – I almost got kicked out of a tiki bar once because the hostess thought it was a real dog!

  • Kellee says:

    Looks great!
Oh, I’m so excited to get more LC makeup! I just dyed my hair BLUE and am definitely ready to mix some awesome colors with it!

  • Celina says:

Your shoes! Are they comfortable for long periods of time? So adorable :)

And I’ll never get tired of your purse, I want one just like it <3

    Doe Deere Reply:

Depends whether you’re used to running around in high heels or not. I think it’s a 3.5″ or possibly even 4″ heel!

  • Brittany M says:

i don’t really see much of the Prince of Darkness in this, but i love the dress :)

    Doe Deere Reply:

You didn’t spot the necklace? :)

    Brittany M Reply:

no i didn’t! lol, love the necklace too :)

  • Teiva says:

Oo..I wish that there was a Buffalo Exchange near me. It seems like all of you NY girls have the BEST luck finding great things second hand!

I love the look..and I think that Ozzy would approve!

  • Kirstie says:

The dress needs a good ironing! ;-)

    Sylvie Reply:

Oh one doesn’t even notice this, so perfect is the look!

    Doe Deere Reply:

It does! I didn’t even notice haha. Oh well, it’s kind of fun to wear wrinkled clothes sometimes…

  • Katya says:

I positively adore the clash between your hair and the dress, it looks totally amazing! I need to try something similar, thanks to your inspiration.
Btw, I just discovered yesterday that we use the same hair dye. It feels a bit weird ;) but in a good way.
    Cheers to you, Doe!

  • Ally says:

  • Becca says:
