We greeted 2010 at a penthouse party in Manhattan. It was a gorgeous loft with windows on every wall with breath-taking views of Harlem and parts of Central Park. Whee!

Every year for NYE, I do the starlet look – dark eye, full lashes and red lip – festive & glamorous at the same time. I part my hair on the side and curl it into ringlets. I spent weeks contemplating my outfit and ended up wearing a dress I modified (had to turn it backwards and sew black ruffles at the bust) and a cozy faux-fur shrug.

- Shrug: not sure of brand
- Dress: from Canal Street, re-worked & worn backwards!
- Purse: Claire’s
- Tights: not sure but I like the pattern!
- Glitter mary janes: by Delicious. Actually, the same shoes I wore on NYE in 2007!
- Makeup: Medusa & Nymph magic dusts, Retrofuturist lipstick + dark red lip gloss

I love leaving lipstick prints on straws and glasses! ;)
Deerlings: how was your New Years’?

Wow you look awesome!
Gorgeous Doe ! You should make a make-up tutorial about this look ! It’s fantastic !
i love the shrug and your SHOES! i get happy every time i see them!
my new year’s was most simple, we waited for midnight and then went right outside the house to see the fireworks. my daughter was still up so she had a great time staying up late! lol
It is completely unfair how flawless you always look :) You are stunning.
wow thats actually oddly suttle make up
x

Is there enthing more beautiful then the dramatic look? Dark eyes and hot red lips?
You look fantastic Doe but i would say you could have used somthing on your arms :3
unfortuatly my new years cloth was boring as hell. Black pants and a longe sleeved turtleneck with a ponytail… can’t fit eny of my coctail dresses enymore ._. I’m to big… *sigh*
You look absolutely delightful! I have trouble making patterned tights work with any outfit so I just avoid them, but this is great.
Beautiful make up! I absolutely love it! Its nice wanting to ring in the new year feeling glamourous.
Aside from the next morning hangover, my new years consisted of a “Ring in a Zombie New Year” theme.
I really didn’t want to look dead, so I went with a dark pin-up look with my hair in full curl, simple eye makeup with dark eyeliner nymph and fairy dust, and Syletto lipstick in a black and white polka dot top, black skinny jeans. I also wore Fairy Dust light on my cheeks, right underneath my blush for a light sheen.
I love your outfit & makeup.

Wow! you look absolutely stunning!!! You should really make a make-up tutorial on this look!!!
This year I avoided the hustle and bustle. I worked at my second/parttime job at Sephora (which you might be aware of that awesome store) I went home and spent the evening with my lovely and awesome man and a friend chilling and watching TV. It was nice and relaxing and the first half of the evening was spent with my son who charms me everyday.
WOOT!
You were looking sooooo pretty! love the whole outfit, the hair and the make up!! perfect in one word! ;) kisses!
Gorgeous. You look like a star.
I love this look. So glamorous! I’d love to see a makeup tutorial of it.
My New Years started off pretty crappy, but things can only go up from there, right? I certainly hope so.

Keep your chin up sweetie! xo
Beautiful!
Love it!! I also did a dramatic New Years look… Japanese Goth Pierrot witch.
Congrats on the Mizrahi feature and I am with you… SO glad that people are back to work now!
You look gorgeous!
Happy New Year!
My NYE was.. interesting, to say the least. All that matters is that I spent it with two of my absolute favorite people. :)
As always, you look beautiful! <3
I FREAKIN' LOVE YOUR STYLE!!!
Aww, you look so gorgeous!
My New Year was pretty uneventful, I just watched movies with my best friend, my older sister, and her best friend. But anything’s fun when I’m with my favorite people [:

You know what they say, even being stuck in a desert is not so bad with a friend. :)
*gasp* Doe! This look is so stunning on you, and really different from the ways we’ve seen you before. Granted, I love the signature neon colors, but this was super cool and sultry. Also, I really appreciate that your outfits don’t depend on name brand, designer items to be glamorous. You are the epitome of the self-made woman!

Thanks Mary. Brands and brand loyalty mean nothing to me. I wear whatever I feel suits me and that’s the only criteria.
I love Delicious! I was in NY last summer and bought shoes from that brand… but they don’t seem to be available in europe. Do you know where I can shop delicious shoes online, oh allknowing Doe?

I’m pretty sure you can get them on eBay!
FABULOUS!! I had a great evening out in San Francisco.. usually my family is in Idaho for New Year’s so I have never gotten to party with my friends or BF before! It was also my grandma’s 80th birthday party :D
Doe, you look gorgeous like that. :)
My New Year’s Eve was okay, though. Nothing to write home about. My BF and I stayed in because it was too cold to go out and do something. But we did order in some pizza and boozed it up, and we struggled to stay up till midnight for the first kiss of the new year.
WOW! You look stunning! Very old hollywood with a modern twist! <3 it. I want those eyelashes desperately! I think I'll be you when I grow up. =D
wait I’m confused about something. You say you’re still using bright auburn blonde but in the ‘Cosmopopin’ post AND this your hair looks darker, on 2 differnt days in 2 different types of lighting. whats up? I’m so confused lol.

Also, this is what the fresh-dye red looks like at first. It will fade into a milder red over the next few weeks. Yeah, reds are know for being unstable!

Oh I thought that was just me since i buy $3 hair dye.
Unfortunately I’m 3 years too young to legally enjoy New Years and go to cool penthouse parties and dress up all nice, but you look beautiful!!!
Oh and I think I was about to order makeup from your limecrime site until I realized I didn’t have enough money. Very beautiful stuff!!!
You look incredible! I can’t believe the dress is backwards. I’d never think to do something like that! I love the “hollywood glamour” look, you’ve done it so well!
Beautiful as always….I like to leave lipstick marks on wine glasses, too….sexy!
my new year was great. after working all day i got changed. didnt dress up too much for fear of getting rained on. my man and i met some of my friends at maccas and chatted for a few hours which was so nice.
then we all got into our cars and went to the drive in movies to see avatar. in the middle of a storm.
all snug inside our car, cuddling my man and chatting to him, occasionally chatting to my friend in the car next to us and watching a beautiful movie and storm.
wonderful.

You look so lovely. I’m in love with your hair. :) Ha I’m glad I’m not the only one how likes leaving lipstick on glasses.
You look so gorgeous here! I love you’re style so much, I just wish I could pull it off! :/ I wish I was as pretty as you! (:
I am dying to know what red you used to dye your hair! I’ve been looking for a red exactly like that and I can’t find it. Also did you bleach your hair to have to get it like that?
