Tales of the Unicorn Queen

The future awaits

Category Unicorn Queen

In my Forward To the Past post, I expressed my interested in Russia mainly as retrospective. Later on I realized that while the past might be important, my fascination with the future far outweighs it.

We must always look forward, even when looking back. It’s up to us to build the bridge between what was and what’s to be. We must observe the present, learn from the past, and reinvent ourselves for our future. I was foolish to even for a second think that I could go back and blend in, pretend nothing has changed, be that little gray mouse who leaves no trace. Giving in to the fear – what if I’m not liked or accepted? – would accomplish nothing, aside from frustration out of inability to speak my mind and do the things I want. Wearing brown pants throughout the whole trip? What a waste!

Instead, I’m going to go out there to make an impact, advance an idea, touch people’s lives in a positive way. Do what I’ve always meant to do! I went ahead and scheduled several interviews with Russian press (thanks Anna!) – I’m going to put myself on the map, damn it. I booked a photoshoot with Mosh who happens to be in Moscow at the same exact time – destiny! – so expect a colorful collaboration. :) Russia, you need some serious GLEE and this deer’s gonna bring it!

I’m not sure what the internet situation will be the next 2 weeks. However, I’m not a big fan of inactivity – on the blog or otherwise – so I prepared some articles that will drop automatically while I’m gone (ooh, it’s like writing notes to my future self!). We have several contests coming up – yay for winning free stuff! – and a certain very special anniversary. :) Stay tuned and I’ll see you when I get back. Muah!

An Australian entertainer in the 70s called Peter Allen had a song called ‘Not The Boy Next Door’ that had the lines – ‘Coming home used to feel so good, I’m a stranger now in my neighborhood. I’ve seen the world at a faster pace and I’m coming now from a different place. Though I may look the same way to you, underneath there is somebody new.’ I highly recommend finding the version Hugh Jackman recorded for the Broadway musical about Peter Allen’s life called ‘The Boy From Oz’. It’s really great.
