- Chalk is cheap!
Drawing on the pavement with chalk is a fun activity that doesn’t requite a lot of money and is harmless to the environment. It also promotes the message that art is temporary and made for the people – it may get washed away by the the upcoming August showers but will leave a sunny mark in a walker-by’s memory. Feeling particularly adventurous? Write mysterious messages for strangers to read.
- Discover a new magazine.
At the vet’s office I stumbled upon an issue of Nylon. I fell in love with its youthful attitude, pop culture coverage and endless pages of colorful fashions! I subscribed though Magazineline which offers 10 issues for 10 bucks (1 year’s subscription). Can’t wait!
Summer sales in late July and August are awesome because you get to buy things for up to 75% off and still get a few months of wear out of them in the year. And, if you are a Forward Shopper (look for tips on how you can become one next week), you will be able to use these things for years to come! Know of other places with summer sales? Spill the beans!
- Work on your laptop while sitting outside on the roof.
Changing your surroundings can help you think outside the box. Plus, fresh air never hurt anyone (unless you’re in an air balloon gone berserk!). Ready to take a break from work? Scan through the breathtaking stories of history’s REAL fake princesses & impostors, poltergeist girls, psychics and eccentrics on MysteriousPeople.com.
And if it starts pouring?

Jumping in a puddle and giggling hysterically is optional. :D So… what are YOU doing in August?

You are my kind of person, all the way. I really hope we can hang out together come this spring! Running around in the rain and jumping in puddles, as well as writing on the sidewalk with chalk are two of my most favorite past times. <3

I know this is super old but I feel like commenting.
Most of that August I hiding my house the entire month. It’s scorching in southern AZ in august in fact to quote the awesome and charming Craig Ferguson “when you leave your car you burst into flames”. Luckily the beginning of the month is the monsoons and i can assure you when that rain poured i walked out my front door and got very wet. =)
I love that you run in the rain. Society got something backwards thinking it was a bad thing. It’s one of the best things in life. I live for the rain.
P.S. You look very sexy ( say this in a hetero friendlike manner) all drenched in that bottom corner photo.
