Pssst! I just added 5 new eyeshadows to LimeCrimeMakeup.com!
Because it’s Halloween, I’m going to be posting tutorials more frequently than usual. Yay! This one is inspired by the Victorian look – perfect for dolls, princesses, even circus characters! Enjoy :D

INGREDIENTS
All colors available on limecrimemakeup.com
- Eyes: Lime Crime magic dust in Cleopatra, mascara, black eyeliner, false eyelashes, white pencil
- Face: foundation, setting powder, Lime Crime magic dust in Primadonna (used as blush)
- Lips: Lime Crime opaque lipstick in Retrofuturist

Face
Moisturize face. Back in Victorian times, paler complexion was preferred, so you’ll want to either use a foundation a few shades lighter or mix what you have with white face paint (you can get it at a Halloween store). Apply foundation all over the face with a sponge, blending into the hairline. Cover lips completely.
Cheeks – ‘circular’ blush can be achieved with a round brush. Dip the bristles in the pot, gently swirl around in the lid and press to the center of a cheek. Blend in circular motion – but don’t overblend. You want it to be nice and round. :) Correct mistakes with a large cotton ball. Set face with finishing powder.
Eyes
Sweep Cleopatra across the lid and into the crease. Blend out lightly. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara on top and bottom lashes. Draw a thin line along top lashes with a black pencil. Under the eye, draw a straight-ish line, extending outward. Glue lashes onto that line.
Fill in waterline with white pencil. Fill in eyebrows with black or brown shadow, aiming for a rounder shape. Avoid doing your eyebrows too ‘archy’ – that’s a modern shape that wasn’t popular in the Victorian times. :)
Lips
I love heart-shaped lips on girls, don’t you?? They look so innocent and cute! The good news is that they are really easy to do. Apply Retrofuturist lipstick directly from the tube, pressing the tip to the upper corners of the lip. Press it on the bottom lip – make sure it’s proportional to the top lip and about the same width. Voila!

Deerlings: Have you decided what you’re going to be for Halloween yet? I’m sort of torn between a John Galliano model and a Pinup Starlet! What do you think???

Xenia,
Can I be a pain and ask what you use to get that colour? I’ve gotten close but never managed it. Thanks!

I’m not dressing up for Halloween. Pretty sad.. it’s my favorite holiday, right next to Valentine’s. I wanted to be a pirate or the Queen of Hearts, but I can’t seem to put anything together or find costume pieces that are cheap enough for me. :[
That blush is awesomely bright. <3

Since I am the only one at my job who doesn’t have children, I’m scheduled to work that night. This happens pretty much every year. Kind of a bummer, but it’s a fine time to bring out my old EGL clothes!
As for my vote, I think you’d really rock the Galliano look. While you’d make a lovely pinup, I honestly don’t think many (or any) other person would think Galliano for Halloween.

Lovely! I must agree on the heart-shaped lips, it’s such a delecate, femenine look :)

Darling, I must ask: is that a scarf that you’re wearing or a shirt? Because it is lovely and I covet it. And the jacket. And the make-up. But mostly the scarfor shirt. Okay, who am I kidding. I want all of it.

I love how bright the blush is. I am going to be a porcelain doll For Halloween. I found a Victorian dress in an antique store several years ago, so I’m wearing it.
I vote for the Galliano model. I feel like you can do so much more with it. It would be unique and I am sure you would have a lot of fun getting into costume.
I have a random question for you about hair dyes. Do you know of any pretty, non-permanent red hair dyes? I used to be a red head, but my hair turned blond. I want my red hair back, but my hair is three feet long and the up-keep on that would be insanely expensive and super-damaging. I’m looking for something that is going to fade out before my roots show too much. Do you have any ideas for me?

Ooohhhh! More tutorials! That makes me insanely giddy! They’re going to be awesome! Can’t Wait.
You look awesome! And I totally agree that you could totally pull off the Galliano model, and that it’s a pretty damn original costume(I think mostly we’d all just love to see you in that makeup!!)
I’m going to be a mermaid. I just recently became obsessed with them and I’m planning on doing a really out there makeup look for it. It’s going to be great!(I hope)

I wanted to be a flapper, but couldn’t find anything I liked in my budget.
I’ve got the goods to be a super rad mod chick, with some makeup a la Twiggy that I’m excited about, and of course some nice bright tights, but I’m still not completely sold on that.
I’m also considering Velma from Scooby Doo, but I’ll probably stick with the Mod ida. :)

Gorgeous! I really like both ideas, but the Galliano model idea is way creative, and the makeup looks like it’d be fun.
I’m not decided yet, either. Princess Leia, Snow White, ringmaster, or some kind of faerie. Can’t think of anything original…

I adore the eyes and lips in this tutorial (the cheeks look lovely, but blush quite honestly does not show up on my skin)! I especially like the falsies along the bottom lash line, it’s very quirky and very cute. I think I’ll have to use this for Halloween– I’m dressing up as a milkmaid-cum-raspberry, and I think this look would complement the costume perfectly! And as for your costume, I think that the Galliano model idea would be perfect!

As doe already knows i am making a sexy dinosaur costume for halloween, since i panic emailed her, then worked it out and then founf the most amazing LIME GREEN lycra with a holographic black reptile print on it!!!! score at the Sew-fisticate! http://www.sewfisticated.com/
I think either would be great but if you are a pin-up starlet you could spend the night sing songs like “Hey, Big Spender” for no reason but the costume!

It’s not a scarf, not a shirt… it’s a SKIRT!!! Seriously. I have this skirt that’s all lace so I pretty much just wore it around my neck. :)
♣ Alison
You are looking for Level-2 dyes (aka semi-permanent or demi-permanent). However, if you’re dying a drastically different color, it may not wash out 100%. But the fading will be a lot more gradual with permanent dyes.
♣ Kat
Some ancient Shiseido lipstick I have.
♣ Samantha Darko
That fabric sounds perfect!!
♣ Clara
Yes yes, you do need to look pretty while driving! ;)
♣ Kaleen
Uhhh… how do I put this. I hate zombies? Yeah. I’m really sorry but zombies terrify me a little too much, and I could never do a zombie tutorial. :\

love this idea!!
the false lashes… are they designed to be worn on upper lashes even though you used them on the lower? just curious because i would have thought lower lashes usually curve inwards (towards face) but your do the opposite (curve away from face).
as you can probably tell, ive never used false lashes before and dont know anything much about them, but i want to try this look and im confused on this aspect!
thanks (:

Love the look. Found your site while googling makeup advice specifically for my costume :) I get into halloween too ~ Going french revolutionary-masquerade-ish. It’s gonna be a blast!
Did you trim those eyelashes for under eye?
