Phew! How many entries did we have total? 400? 500? All were impossibly, candyfuturistically awesome to a cosmic degree. Do we have winners in there somewhere? I think so!
D’LILAC: Reeca
Annette didn’t really mind that she was late. Parliament meetings were so boring– they were probably just discussing another hovercraftway expansion. Besides, she looked fabulous. Annette swept in through the ancient wooden doors, her voluminous tulle petticoats rustling and her holograph ring emitting silvery sparks. The current speaker stopped midsentence, sending Annette a blatantly disapproving look. Giggling, Annete plopped into her assigned seat, then flashed the speaker a deliciously lavender smile before producing a box of fragrant pastries. “Cupcake, anyone?”
COUNTESSA FLUORESCENT: Kate
They were all staring at her, whispering scandalous things behind their hands as she passed. She didn’t care. She was known as Countessa Flourescent. Artist, model, performer, and (most importantly) international jewel thief. Her reputation as the most dangerous woman alive overshadowed her every move. But that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that massive diamond at the end of the hallway. It was surrounded by heavily armed men who were regarding her nervously. They knew what she was there for. She just smiled.
COSMOPOP: Rickey
If anyone knew how to arrive in style, it was her: the line outside the Cosmopop Club couldn’t help but turn their heads in unison, as if by remote control, when she pulled up to the third floor entrance on Sixth Avenue. The spotless white door to her convertible Ferrari Hovercraft opened to reveal pale orange leather seats and, at first, a single, shining white boot. She was tall already–with the platforms, she owned the street. She parked her hovercraft with the authority of a queen beside a large sign that read No Parking, removed her large white sunglasses to take one quick look at the man taking money from the patrons, and strode through the open neon purple door behind him–and that was when the party began.
RETROFUTURIST: Kat
Elinor looked around the virtual food court in awe. Since when was food able to pop out of nowhere? Where are the microwaves, the ovens, the stoves? She walked with her classic black pumps and belted leopard dress, her lips a shade to be reckoned with. Every eye was on her, she noticed. One brave man dared approach her.
“I couldn’t help noticing you. Are you from around here?”
“No,” she said, “I’m from somewhere far less interesting.”
“You seem like you fit right in.”
“I guess some styles never die.”
MY BEAUTIFUL ROCKET: Cassandra
Rave reached for her roller skates. She laced herself into the neon blue boots and tested the glittery orange wheels against her glossy yellow floor. Rave loved to make things, invent, and experiment. Her newest experiment was the one she was most excited about and her head swam with glee whenever she thought about it, as well as it’s possible results. She rolled to her vanity and pulled her fiery hair into a ponytail. Then she reached for her orange lipstick, the one that matched the wheels of her roller skates. She skated quickly down the golden streets, spinning and jumping when she felt the giddy rush of excitement as she got closer to her destination. She skidded to a stop in front of the pink building that seemed to shimmer in the soft sunlight. With a deep breath she pushed open the front door that glittered with a holographic unicorn.
Inside stood her latest experiment. It was every color of the rainbow and shaped like a heart. She was building a rocket, and today was the day she would attempt take-off.
AIRBORNE UNICORN: Aly
The Airborne Unicorn had been hailed by the presses as the new “It” bar, though really it was a nightly gala on board a huge, neon spacecraft that loaded up with party-goers before spending the night lazily floating among the stars. The main room was painted a glittering purple, a somehow neon lavender, and the hovering disco balls that flitted around the crowd splayed rainbows on everything – playing with dancers’ hair, flitting over the collarbones of women leaning seductively against the bar. A waitress in a glittering, curve-hugging white tutu mini-dress, the rainbows playing on her cheekbones, offers two newcomers – first night aboard, how exhilarating! – a tray of truffles and perfect, hovering spheres of liquid. She batted her rhinestoned eyelashes and her lips curved into a sensuous smirk as they took the signature cocktail, named after the bar itself. The girls pressed their lips against the spheres, caressing the mirror-cold surface as though kissing the drink, and breathed deeply the smoke-and-air-and-liquid concoction. It tasted like flowers and cotton candy, and when they raised their heads to look around, it left a purple glaze, the lavender both pastel and neon at once, coating their lips in the signature color of the Airborne Unicorn.
GREAT PINK PLANET: Serena
This hasn’t been a nice day AT ALL!” thought Lyla, staring absently out of the glittered taxi window. It was raining, the sky looked grey and it made even the neon colored buildings look dull. As soon as she got home, Lyla looked at the clock and realized she was already late for her friend’s party. But she surely didn’t feel like partying! She was just about to go to sleep when she noticed a small pink container on her pillow. “Oh, the new lipstick! Right, let’s try it on” she thought.
She leaned towards the silver mirror, her mouth now colored of a lovely pastel pink. She pouted. she smiled. She made silly faces. She laughed. She was loving it!
Ten minutes later, Lyla was in the cab again, leading off to the party, pink lipstick in her pocket and pink heart-shaped glasses to match. And behind those lenses, even the rain looked fabulous!
CENTRIFUCHSIA: Tamara
She sighed and scribbled more notes in her lab book. Calina was absolutely determined to find the answers hidden in these samples. Modern scientific advancements had accomplished many glorious things– bioluminescent lanterns lit the town in an array of gorgeous hues, hologram clothing and jewelry provided anyone and everyone with the most glamourous means of self-expression, and unicorns danced gleefully through meadows and city parks. Yes, with a fragment of DNA recovered from a sample preserved in a glittering glacier, scientists had reintroduced unicorns to the world! But now they were suffering from a mysterious genetic anomaly. She fired up the shiny Centrifuchsia 3000 (even the lab equipment was aesthetically pleasing these days) and got back to work….
NO SHE DIDN’T: Variety
She can’t do it! There’s no way! Stunned onlookers gasped! She’s going to do it mommy! Squealed one little girl, eyes dancing. All watched in awe, envy or shock as one lone girl climbed the chrome and rainbow Ferris wheel. Finally reaching the top the girl stretched up as high as she could go… and kissed the sky! No she didn’t! the crowd gasped.

WHOOOOO! I am so so happy, thank you Doe! All the submissions were great, so winning is really cool. Is there any way we can see the lip swatches before we choose? They’re all so beautiful, it’s so hard to decide!
xx
Reeca
Love the lipsticks.
Doe will you have “on lip” examples of the lipsticks when you get them up?
They’re all fantastic, but a particular one stood out for me and that was the No She Didn’t vignette. Well done Variety, that had me gasping to read it!
We’re working on the lip swatches. Hopefully next week we should have them up.
Who won the Styletto one? I don’t see it… Am I just blind?
also, thanks so, so much, Isabella and Comtesse De Barbarac! Your comments were really super nice to read!!
Styletto was already written and used as an example in the original contest post :)
These are so cute! I love them all. Congratulations, everyone!
