Tales of the Unicorn Queen

I’ll show you my glee if you show me yours!

Photo: Oliver Pietern

  • Walking around the house naked in the summer.
I really like the feeling of being naked and will drop trou at any given opportunity, haha. I wish I had an outdoors place where I could walk around in the nude all day, be one with the nature and have no one care. You know, trees, sunshine, butterflies… Wait, I think I know that place. It’s is called the Garden of Eden, duh!
  • Imelda
The self-proclaimed Despotic Queen of Shoes and a blogging inspiration recently opined on a couple of my posts. Made my day :D
  • Taking a shower right before bed
and twisting my hair up in a bun for effortless waves in the morning!
  • Guinea Pig Olympics (Thanks, Kat!)
“Snuffles McSqueeby, gold-winning squash champ of last year’s games, trains for 6 hours a day. The rest of his schedule consists mainly of trembling in the corner of his hutch.”
  • My spectacular new journal
It Jazz Age-themed and has glamorous illustrations and quotes from my favorite people every few pages. Many of the quotes on this site came from that journal, actually. Oh, and glitter pens are an absolute must!

You can buy one here.

  • Ticking the ‘gift wrap’ box when ordering stuff online
An instant present to myself for being a beautiful, capable and overall awesome human being!
  • The Camel Toe Song
I wouldn’t blast it in a work place but it’s so funny and true, my eyes are tearing! Examines the phenomenon of unwanted visibility due to too-tight pants on a woman, haha. Especially recommended for Beach Boy fans.
  • Flea markets & garage sales
There is something voyeuristic about rummaging through other people’s stuff, even if they are sitting right in front of you, hee hee. I go to this flea market in Queens at least twice every summer – and have a great time looking at people’s old jewelry, art, and other uncategorizable trinkets! Besides, those bargains can’t be beat. ;)
  • Cute shops and impromptu photo shoots (all photos by Margarita)

At a Japanese toy store in the West Village

I neeeeeed these pink rhinestone headphones! *pout, sniffle*

Yes, these are from the same day as Cupcake Expedition

My outfit:

  • Reconstructed t-shirt top “This is the life. Take it easy!”
  • Vintage skirt
  • ‘Balenciaga’? bag from Canal Street
  • Jeffrey Campbell kitten heels

  • !!! Lovely! I especially love those shoes! I wish I was a size 8, but alas, I am a size 9! The photo of you in the Japanese toy store is so so uber cute, and so is the photo of the mouse.

I’m also one of the “loves to walk around naked” clan… we should start a club haha!

I am loving your blogazine, miss Doe Deere. Love love love.

Your post are always so uplifting. I love to read them.

  • M.E. says:

Walking around naked is one of those simple pleasures that a lot of people forget! I am planning on being naked A LOT when I move to my new apartment. Teehee!

  • Clara says:

I’m not one for walking around naked but shoes are instant glee for me. Or my theatre, or working at my little theatre with the guy who I’m dating and my best friend, yeah that fills me with glee. And collecting beads to eventually sew. And tea.
When I think about it a lot of things make me full of glee.

Oh thank you for this post, I had a shitty day at work and it just made me think about things that make me smile! Including those beautiful shoes!!

  • Doe Deere says:

Dayna – haha, let’s! Might as well start a Naked Community. :D

Marlie – I got your CD all packaged, signed, and ready to go! :)

M.E. – ooh, new apartment! Exciting! Sometimes I wonder if people can see me through the windows. But then again, if they insist on spying on me it’s their problem, isn’t it?! Haha. As Mark’s father once put it – “I hope you’re not offended by nudity…” – and dropped trou. Haha. True story.

Clara – anytime, sweetie! :) That’s what I’m here for.

  • kaz says:

  • Mini says:

    I love the pink Headphones!
I can’t wait till the 23th of August because all of my friends and I are going to a big amusement park.
Oh and today I went shopping with my mum and had a lot of fun with her ^_______^

And to be nacked is just lovley.

  • Alex says:

Divine shoes, and cupcakes, and positive shirts…

My glee, well I’m trying really hard to prepare care packages for many a friend who’s down at the moment. Candy, cards, sparkly things, whatever… And hopefully that’ll lift their spirits. That’d make me gleeful.

A just try to see beauty in life. Volunteering, I have so many shoots coming up, and the 23rd’s my 25th Birthday.

Also Cabaret is always a good cheer up film/musical.

  • Tygenco says:

Hm… glee… Wish I was able to wear high heels, ’cause the shoes are to die for!

My glee, as it stands right now, is listening to my music collection and singing along to it when no one else is home to tell me if I’m off key. Also, getting to talk with good friends after a long day at work always picks me up and makes me gleeful. Well, that and a good chocolate truffle made by Maggie Lyon Chocolatiers.

  • Aether says:

My goodness, Deere, I could have written this whole entry myself. Walking around naked, shoes, guinea pigs, shower before bed wavy hair! Yes! All these things give me glee as well! Haha, I <3 you!

  • song says:

I heart new journals! I bought a lovely new purple inked pen yesterday and it is heaven to write with. I can’t wait to order new moleskins for next year – it’s my new years present to myself.

  • Eveing says:

Being naked is a lovely thing! However it would be much more handy if I lived with just me and my cat… Its rather awkward to be caught dancing around the house naked.

  • SammyDoll says:

heh, i’m sure you’ve caught on to my love of Balenciaga. :O) (hey- spend money when you’ve alive and loving it, right?!) What bag is that suppose to be a copy of? Looks more Marc Jacobs inspired to me.

Cuuute pics! And i see you got a shout-out on GalaDarling, congrats!

  • Angela says:

Aw the headphones and cute japanese toys, i have to go back to college next weekend in NYC, where in the West Village did you find these amazing stores?

  • Doe Deere says:

Alex – I love putting together care packages! Even more so than receiving. Your friends are lucky to have you. :)

Tygenco – I love love love chocolate truffles! In fact, the hazelnut ones I got over the weekend will be the death of me…

    Aether – I <3 you back! ;)

Song – ooh, purple ink! What a great idea. I need to find me a bright violet pen now.

    Eveing – that’s why I love cats; they don’t judge! ;)

SammyDoll – it might be a Marc Jacobs copy, I’m not too sure. They told me which one it was supposed to be but I didn’t care, I just liked the bag. :) By the way, I love your entry in the Must-Be-Pink! contest – it proves you’ve got a sense of humor! :)

  • Jessie says:

Those shoes are insanely gorgeous! If only I had size 8 feet!

I think I want those headphones.

    I love your blogazine!
