  • Colorful doors
I love, love, love brightly painted doors! It’s such a smart way to sass up the old and boring. Whenever I see a fun door, I can never resist snapping a picture.
  • Listening to ‘Flowers & Balloons’ by Bliss Station. On repeat.
If you’re having a bad day, this song is guaranteed to put a broad smile on your face. I mean, how can you go wrong with lyrics like “We gloat in front of an ice-cream truck” and “Let us smell the blossom in our trail”?? And that unanticipated Depeche Mode-like bridge? Simply brilliant. Be sure to check out the lyrics, too – and learn them by heart!
  • Herbal Tea
Because it has no caffeine and is yummy. My recent favorite is Twinings Herbal Revive ‘black currant’  – it’s a bright magenta tea with a rich, slightly tingly flavor.
  • Inhaling cool night air before dozing off
I can’t explain it but there is something magical about sleeping next to an open window. The night air here smells like the ocean and freshly cut grass, and I’m pretty sure there is nightingale living somewhere in a tree. My bed is right up against the window so I get to see the moon, the stars and the clouds in the sky every night before closing my eyes. It’s brilliant and relaxing.
  • Making a new friend who knows a thing or two about chocolate!
Last week I finally met Carmen of Chocolate Zoom in person – we went out to dinner & dessert at a chocolaterie called Max Brenner (my sister and her boyfriend were there too). The food was delicious, and the dessert – as expected – rich and decadent! But most importantly, Carmen turned out to be an open, intelligent and stylish person – all the qualities I hold highly. We are thinking of organizing a chocolate tasting in the near future together – she gets tons of samples in the mail. I swear, the girl has the coolest job in the world!

  • Discovering your new friend has the same signature scent as you
Oh yes, it made me so very gleeful to find out that Carmen also wears Burberry London – which is my favorite perfume at the moment! Perfume is such an incredibly personal thing – the chances of two people who’d just met liking the same one are slim to none – so it felt like we belonged to the same sisterhood or something. :)
  • Wendybird (short film)
A miraculous of a collaboration from 3 of my favorite people: fashion designer Erin Fetherston, director/fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth, and actress Kirsten Dunst. Simply magical!

And last but not least – this blog!
It’s really starting to come together (I guess the 12-hour days I’d spent tweaking it didn’t go in vain!) I just added an ‘About’ section and am working on more fun stuff as usual.

Now tell me what’s filling your hearts with glee, Deerlings!
