My latest GLEE is a painting by Johanna Ost called ‘Princess with Unicorn’. I love fairy tale beasts such as ermines and unicorns, but especially Johanna’s depictions of the latter. Most people think of a unicorn as a horse with a horn, but the more ancient folklore describes it as a cross between a horse and a goat – complete with beard, goat hooves and a thin tail with a puff! Naturally, I had to get my hands on the print. :)

Now it lives on my pink wall. I even made a special frame for it – a former cracked mirror which I took apart, re-painted white and brushed over the edges with pink paint. Love it!
I love making stuff with my hands and lately those hands have been itching to remodel and repaint my entire house… into a Candyfuturediscoland! Deerlings, would you like to read more about my craft projects?

It’s very pretty. It looks like my baby goat Petal – http://www.flickr.com/photos/princesspoochie/3264848411/in/set-72157605618976881/
Aren’t ermines real, not fairy tale? They are beautiful creatures. Too bad they are brutally killed for their fur still.

What a beautiful painting! The girl has such innocence but there’s also a sadness and mystery behind her eyes.

YES to craft projects! :)
I thought they’d call you Ksenia/Ksyusha/etc? But if Zina is your preference it’s a nice diminutive of Xenia. Though Xenia looks absolutely awesome on paper (unlike Ekaterina, unfortunately).

♣ Princess Poochie
OMG, Petal is the cutest creature on Earth!!! Ermine is a real animal which seems to have a fairy tale aura around it. :) Maybe because of the kings’ cape association? I love the spotted pattern very much and would die to get it in faux fur… Unfortunately, it is notoriously hard to find.
♣ Kitty
I know it’s supposed to be Kseniya but feel that Zinaida fits me heaps better! ;)

I really like the picture, when I first saw it I almost thought it was a painting of you (with dark hair) until I looked a bit closer.
I love your crafts projects, especially the dollhouse closet makeover, it looks absolutely fantastic. I’m not that into girly dollhouse-esque room decorations, but I’d do something like it in my house after seeing how great yours turned out.

Oohhh, a friend of the family drew me a picture with the goat-style unicorn sitting on her lap similar to that picture, only it was a little more realistic, your picture is probably the first time since then that I’ve seen it in the same style!
I’d love to see some more of your crafts btw! I’m a super hands on person and I love looking at other people’s works

Wow, this is crazy! I’ve been following your blog for I while now and it has become my favurite. I’m always checking for updates here before I do anything else on my computer, often even before I check my email. And then you go posting an entry about a local artist from my own small hometown , here in little Sweden!I’m pretty sure she lives here, or at least has lived here. And I think I’ve actally seen her, selling her art in Åkersberga center!
The world is indeed small!

Doe, I thought you should know that you inspired me to fix up my nightstand!
It went from this: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/Emiazla/0529091417.jpg
Into this!: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/Emiazla/0529092122.jpg
The colours are inspired by my comforter. I never thought about it, but those tow blues are my favourite colours! So, it is perfect. I’m already thinking about redoing all of my furniture.
So..thank you for the inspiration!

Oh! I’m so glad you discovered Johanna’s artwork. I’ve been watching her work for a few years now. She also use to have (not sure if she still does) an LJ blog where she’d post her fashion ‘look’ of the day. She also has done quite a few fantasy-inspired photo shoots with this awesome Swede: http://liselotte-e.livejournal.com/
http://minnaloushe.deviantart.com/
-this young woman also does very nice fantasy artwork, but hers tends to take a bit of an erotic twist, at times.:) I have print from her of a beautiful nude Fairy woman. I should dig it out and frame it sometime.:)
As another artist, I’d love to see your artsy/crafty creations!:)

The first one I remember reading was about some shoes from Nine West (I think) that you had altered. I thought the concept was an easy and brilliant way to spiff up something that was worth a little attention.

More craft projects? YES PLEASE!
They’re very inspiring. i don’t have a lot of money so turning trash into treasure is my life. So much of what i own is used so turning an old broken mirror into a picture frame is right up my alley.
