My latest GLEE is a painting by Johanna Ost called ‘Princess with Unicorn’. I love fairy tale beasts such as ermines and unicorns, but especially Johanna’s depictions of the latter. Most people think of a unicorn as a horse with a horn, but the more ancient folklore describes it as a cross between a horse and a goat – complete with beard, goat hooves and a thin tail with a puff! Naturally, I had to get my hands on the print. :)

Now it lives on my pink wall. I even made a special frame for it – a former cracked mirror which I took apart, re-painted white and brushed over the edges with pink paint. Love it!
I love making stuff with my hands and lately those hands have been itching to remodel and repaint my entire house… into a Candyfuturediscoland! Deerlings, would you like to read more about my craft projects?

that’s gorgeous, Zenia, and I love the way you’ve displayed it!
totally spelt your name wrong there, damnit, I know it’s Xenia really ;)
It’s such a gorgeous print! Love the little dots on the princesses sleeves. :)
And your pink wall is fierce. Hehe.
It’s ok, my Russian friends call me Zina anyway :)
Yes I would love to read more! <3
Yes please, more craft projects!

All of your craft projects that I’ve seen so far (including the dresser video on YouTube, hehe) have been really cute :) I’d love to see more!

It’s very pretty. It looks like my baby goat Petal – http://www.flickr.com/photos/princesspoochie/3264848411/in/set-72157605618976881/
Aren’t ermines real, not fairy tale? They are beautiful creatures. Too bad they are brutally killed for their fur still.

Poochie
What a beautiful painting! The girl has such innocence but there’s also a sadness and mystery behind her eyes.
I love Johanna Ost and I would love to see more craft blogs
Absolutely! I’m a huge fan of handicraft-ing and with your sensational color/style sense, I’m certain that your projects are fascinating.
I love your craftiness!
Yes yes! More craft projects please!

yes to crafts!
YES to craft projects! :)
I thought they’d call you Ksenia/Ksyusha/etc? But if Zina is your preference it’s a nice diminutive of Xenia. Though Xenia looks absolutely awesome on paper (unlike Ekaterina, unfortunately).
Please do post the house projects. Inspiration comes in many ways and many places.
It looks beautiful in that frame! Thank you for writing about it! :)
I would love to read about your craft projects!
I would absolutely love to read more about crafty things on your blog! :) And the painting is really pretty. <3

Yes to crafts! I only a had a minute to glance at my Google reader this morning and I saw your lovely pink wall and mirror-turned-picture frame, and had to read the post all the way through.
PS. It’s my first-time commenting but I love your blog.

♣ Princess Poochie
OMG, Petal is the cutest creature on Earth!!! Ermine is a real animal which seems to have a fairy tale aura around it. :) Maybe because of the kings’ cape association? I love the spotted pattern very much and would die to get it in faux fur… Unfortunately, it is notoriously hard to find.
♣ Kitty
I know it’s supposed to be Kseniya but feel that Zinaida fits me heaps better! ;)
yes to the craft projects =)
I’d love to read more about your craft projects. Didn’t you have a video about one a while ago? I enjoyed that too.
I really like the picture, when I first saw it I almost thought it was a painting of you (with dark hair) until I looked a bit closer.
I love your crafts projects, especially the dollhouse closet makeover, it looks absolutely fantastic. I’m not that into girly dollhouse-esque room decorations, but I’d do something like it in my house after seeing how great yours turned out.
PLEASE put more about your craft projects, I loved the post you did on painting your closet! I’m redecorating my house at the moment & could use some inspiration :P
That’s completely precious and I love the frame.
My glee for the week is a ring that my daughter made for me out of a large bright blue paper clip.
craft stuff, please! i love to see what people are making–it’s really inspiring!

The painting is lovely and I think you should do a photo-version of it with you as the girl.
That is a beautiful picture!!
That wall color is very similar to the color of my room. I love it!
I can only imagine how beautifully your house is decorated, I would love to see more pictures :]
Oohhh, a friend of the family drew me a picture with the goat-style unicorn sitting on her lap similar to that picture, only it was a little more realistic, your picture is probably the first time since then that I’ve seen it in the same style!
I’d love to see some more of your crafts btw! I’m a super hands on person and I love looking at other people’s works
Yes more crafts!
Love it!! I would love to see more on your crafts! Wow, this is crazy! I’ve been following your blog for I while now and it has become my favurite. I’m always checking for updates here before I do anything else on my computer, often even before I check my email. And then you go posting an entry about a local artist from my own small hometown , here in little Sweden!I’m pretty sure she lives here, or at least has lived here. And I think I’ve actally seen her, selling her art in Ã…kersberga center!
The world is indeed small!
Seeing more crafty projects on here would only make your blogzine even more spectacular! Please post more! :)
Yes, crafty projects are needed, I work in a frame shop part time, so I understand the need to create something wonderfully! I have some Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls stuff I’ve framed recently and several SPAWN Comics! If you’d like, you can send some stuff to me that you want framed ^_^
Doe, I thought you should know that you inspired me to fix up my nightstand!
It went from this: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/Emiazla/0529091417.jpg
Into this!: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/Emiazla/0529092122.jpg
The colours are inspired by my comforter. I never thought about it, but those tow blues are my favourite colours! So, it is perfect. I’m already thinking about redoing all of my furniture.
So..thank you for the inspiration!
Oh! I’m so glad you discovered Johanna’s artwork. I’ve been watching her work for a few years now. She also use to have (not sure if she still does) an LJ blog where she’d post her fashion ‘look’ of the day. She also has done quite a few fantasy-inspired photo shoots with this awesome Swede: http://liselotte-e.livejournal.com/

-this young woman also does very nice fantasy artwork, but hers tends to take a bit of an erotic twist, at times.:) I have print from her of a beautiful nude Fairy woman. I should dig it out and frame it sometime.:)
As another artist, I’d love to see your artsy/crafty creations!:)
Yes! Crafts would be wonderful! I love how your frame is simple, yet Rococo, yet elegant. :3
Ahh, I really wanna make the dress the girl in the painting is wearing!
Crafty projects are always fun!!
