My inbox is full of concerns: What’s happening to Lime Crime? Why are products disappearing off the website? Will they be back? Are you going out of business?
Quite the opposite. Lime Crime is growing at an unprecedented speed and we’re working extra-hard to keep up. To keep things running smoothly, we are implementing a few changes ultimately aimed to benefit you; here’s how:
- Faster shipping
The amount of orders has been overwhelming lately (in a good way!) and we decided it was time to partner up with a shipping center. However, it will take them some time to process the inventory. Orders placed tomorrow on will ship no later than Oct 25 (Halloween delivery guaranteed within the US). After October 25, daily shipping will begin – it means you get your makeup in your eager hands faster! Yay for immediate gratification!
- Gimme Lipstick!
Lipstick pre-sales begin tomorrow, October 1st exclusively via LimeCrimeMakeup.com. We expect a high demand for these & since the first shipment is limited, pre-sales are the best way to ensure you get what you want from the first run! If we can ship these earlier than October 25, I will be sure to post an announcement.
- More Magic please!
Many of you noticed that several Magic Dust colors have disappeared off the website. We selling out old inventory at discount prices to make room for new stuff. Since we are now able to order larger volumes, we’re passing on the savings to you: starting tomorrow, Magic Dusts will come in new packaging with DOUBLE the volume! You be able to get all the same colors, same quality but double the amount at the same price.
If you don’t have $12 to try a new eyeshadow, now is the time to get it for cheaper. But hurry up, sale ends tomorrow!
- Wave buh-bye…
Finishing Dust, Foundation Primer & Essential Brush Kit are being discontinued. You can pick up remaining stock at a deep discount – until tomorrow!
I know, I know. It looks like the line is shrinking right now but I promise you that we’re actually gearing up for a BIG expansion. Lime Crime’s strongest point has always been COLOR and I’ve decided to focus on that without further distraction. (I would rather make a range of colored mascaras than another primer any day!) I can’t tell you about all the amazing products we have coming up just yet, but I will just say they are all something I’ve always wanted but I couldn’t find anywhere.
Tomorrow is a big day for Lime Crime. I cannot express how grateful I am for all your support, well-wishes, enthusiasm and GLEEful vibes radiated all across the universe. I love you all very, very much Deerlings!

I’m sad to see the glitters and some of the colors go! :( But congrats on everything Doe! I cannot wait for these possible mascaras (this has been a problem I’ve had the last few years after Sephora stopped making those cute little “Piiink” neon mascaras). I hope your lipstick launch goes smoothly and this Liz just got her first paycheck from her new job… so lipsticks ahoy! Just in time for my Halloween birthday!

Speaking of another change, I placed an order a few weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed when the package came. I loved the colors! They are so awesome, and so is the finishing dust. I was, however, a little sad that there was no note in the envelope from you this time. The first time I ordered I thought it was an unexpected but charming touch. In reality I know it matters very little, but I liked the little note. Just wanted to let you know.

Hey Melinda, I’ve just started to use the Urban Decay primers (I got both in that Potion pacakage available through Sephora) and I like them pretty well. When I put a little extra of the Pore Perfecting one, it really does help with my pores! Lately I haven’t been using much in the way of foundation, so I can’t tell you if it helps with that. I’ve been focusing on letting my freckles shine through lately. However, I like combining the two primers together to get a nice glow and smoother to the touch skin.
I also liked the Smashbox color correcting primer, but it wasn’t awesome enough for me to not want to try new things.

Aww, that’s disappointing about the foundation primer seen as I’ve yet to find a good one, and yours seems to be so perfect…maybe you could recommend one? ;)
But I think there’s a bigger gap in the market for bright, bold colours. Especially with things like mascara and eyeliner. I know you can get coloured mascara and eyeliner, but the choice is limited and the quality isn’t always great. I’ve always had the impression that Lime Crime is committed to quality as well as colour range, so I’m interested to see what you come up with next :)
And by the way, I’m not just cheering from the sidelines…I want to buy every Lime Crime product in existence (or all your eyeshadows, at least!). It’s just not easy for me to pay online at the moment, but when it is (or when someone else does it for me as a gift), you’ll be getting a huge order from me!

I love you too Doe but you made me really upset. I can’t believe you discontinued the glitters withought giving us more notice! (a month would have been nice) By the time i ordered some things 4 days ago there were only 2 left. I bought only one because I didn’t know they’d be gone. I wish I’d known I’d have bought both and 2 of the one I got instead of certain shadows i could have bought in a couple months anyway. Now, At least, in the nick of time i rushed to buy the brushes i’ve been wanting for ever (a year?) and the finishing pixie dust. I still crave banshee, love spell and Jinx. I was even planning on trying the bansheee tutorial for over 6 months now.
I know your thinking “if you wanted it so bad why didn’t you buy it 6months ago?!” well money is a big issue for my family. I can’t really work right now because I have a lot of illnesses and anxiety disorder and school plus jobs aren’t easy to find. My family has a lot of medical expenses including for my dog Sammy who has a tumor on her chest. In addition we recently paid off the credit card for my cat (and BFF)s cremation (she was 21), legal bills, and my dads car just got totalled by some idiot rich/prep-highschool kid and we only get $3000 from the insurance.
I swear I’m not asking for pity my entire point is that there are many other people in similar situations, I’m sure lots of your customers are. I know you remeber what it’s like to be poor and I know you’re trying to get us better deals on Magic Dust and I sooo apreciate it, i’ve been wishing for that for a while and am very grateful. However, please try and remeber giving us only a days notice on this can be a financial burden. And yes, I know I’m being demanding I realize many companies give no notice before discontinuing items, I suppose I just have come to expect you to be so much better than any other company. *shrugs* I just really really liked those glitters lol. =/ Sorry if i’m rude i just believe in saying whats on my mind. Don’t be angry i felt like i HAD TO write this.

Now I’m glad that I’ll be able to buy what I want, spend the same money and get the double! ^^
I hope I’ll be able to make my order soon! We (me and my sister) are saving up for a few time now! I’m hoping I’ll be able to buy 2 lipsticks and 3 shadows! *-*

Oh no! I didn’t get the glitters. I was so desperate for those colours but I’ve been surviving on so little pay I couldn’t justify buying make up (god pains me to say that). And those were the most beautiful range of colours!
Just so I know, Circus Girl is gonna be staying yeah? I really want that but like I said money issues.
Of course the fact Lime Crime is doing so well is brilliant and I’m glad to hear it. :)

The glitter thing is extraordinarily sad… nobody makes such pretty glitters, except for Barry M, and they ship from England. It was the love spell and transylvania glitters that first led me from myspace to shanalogic to lime crime to your blogazine… and now I’m here everyday… but with no love spell glitter to look forward to. Is there any chance that once the new organization is under control you will re-launch the glitters?

Honestly, I’ll be really sad to see the finishing dust & foundation primer go. :( I bought them to use with my wedding day makeup & they worked so well that my photos didn’t even need retouching! I also ended up letting my friend borrow them for her wedding day & she was just as impressed as I was. It’s going to be tough to find something that even comes close to those two! :(

i am also very excited about the lipstick launch, but i want to implore you to keep the pixie dust finishing powder in the lineup! i’ve only just started using this (got my first order less than a month ago) and i’ve finally found a powder that i love! i mean, truly, deeply love. now i’m afraid to use it, because it’s being discontinued!! seriously? while i love the lime eye color i also got with the order, the pixie dust is what keeps me coming back. i’ve raved about it all month long to anyone who would listen (and several who would not) so i do hope that the reconsideration of this products fate will keep it on the market!!

Agree about the focus on colors – bring them on! I just got the Urban Decay eyeliner holiday pack of 9 colors and it’s kind of disappointing. The coverage is lacking on several of them due to being so “glide-y” that they don’t really make a solid line – some MAC eyeliners do the same thing. I also got a Kryolan hot pink pressed powder recently which wouldn’t pop over any base or primer I tried (any ideas?). I would LOVE to see LC liquid eyeliners, outrageous mascaras, blushes and really, anything else. I trust your taste completely Doe!

Terribly excited about the lipstick launch and double-whammy magic powders! I was thinking, by the way– I’d love to have that fabulous Styletto shoot you and Miss Mosh had on my dorm walls; maybe, when things have calmed down a little, you could make a ‘buy print’ option available for all of your gallery? Maybe you could use an exported version deviantART’s print system; I’m sure it’d be a hit! ;D

[Reply]
September 30th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Aw, too bad about the powder and primer…I love them. I just ordered two of each since I’m about out. For anyone looking for comparable items – I like Bare Minerals Prime Time second best, and I think maybe Make Up For Ever’s hi-def powder might be similar, though I have not tried it. But it is also white microspheres. Physician’s Formula’s mineral powder is also pretty good.
So I was just looking at my calendar online and commented to my fiancee, “Tomorrow is Oct. 1st.” Then it hit me and I burst out, “OH MY GOD!! TOMORROW IS OCT. 1ST!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???!!!” He looked at me like I was crazy, and I told him it was Lime Crime lipstick pre-sales. haha I will be placing a second order tomorrow for those! Gotta get movin’ to the grocery store with my big ole turquoise lips!
And I am VERY excited about the possibility of colored mascara! That was the idea I submitted when you asked us to respond with what product we’d invent based on our personality and what we’d name it! I found a couple of good ones by Lash Splash – one in teal and one in royal blue – I like them a lot, but you have to put 4 or 5 coats on to get a true pigmented color. I would love a BRIGHT royal purple, not like the plum they have. To reiterate what I said in that posting, I want my lashes to look painted in color!! Lash Splash has lengthening fibers in it, which is good, but I prefer a “rubber” brush because (for me) they separate and lengthen better. If you came out with a formula that is more pigmented and has a bigger color selection, I’d be in heaven! Hot pink, anyone?
One more thing – might you bring back the blushes?? Those are ALL about color, so I would love it if you would! :)

Confession time: I LOVE glitter. In fact, I think it’s one of the most awesome things in the world! However, as a cosmetic I think it needs to be reworked in some way to make application more convenient. One day I will find a way and we’ll all be able to cover ourselves in sparkle head to toe!

I see when you upsized you changed the types of containers the Magic Dust comes in, (i liked the old labels =( you can see i don’t deal with change well) So I just wanted to check there will be sifters right? They look like they will make for a very merry christmas for me this year. (not that i might not order again before then) After all I was terified of “wasting” my teeny tiny treasures last year lol.

I can’t WAIT for the new stuff on the site. I was logging online to buy more stuff today (I sadly admit I hadn’t been to your site in ages and had lost the address). I was soo confused when all the products were gone. I bought 5 of your shadows shortly after they came out and after all this time I need more! I’ve tried other products and none of them can meet the color satisfaction that yours give me. I hope everything is back up soon. Good luck with all the craziness of getting everything ready for new launches. (I’ve been stalking limecrime all morning for the lipstick to pop up.
