  • Rachael says:

my favorite thing about summer is sleeping with the windows open and waking up to the sunlight streaming in and the birds chirping. it’s so peaceful and difficult to extract myself from the sheets!

  • Twiggy says:

my favourite thing about summer is activities on my city, there are musicians on the streets, flowers everywhere, a lot of american tourists -i do love USA!- i can sit with my boy and friends at a café terrasse and just drink a diabolo fraise.

    And that’s awesome :)

  • Amy says:

The heat! Cute(r) outfits, tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, beatiful flowers and no more snow!

  • Kristina says:

I love summer because it’s the perfect time to lounge around local rivers and lakes and have fabulous picnics!

  • Meri says:

My favorite thing is that I finally have time to myself! Summer is the only time I get to actually relax and spend time on me, the rest of the year I’m crazed and frantic with school and work. I get to sleep in and get together with friends, taking the time to enjoy the nice warm weather and hit the beach!

  • Ann S. says:

My summers up until now have always revolved around finally having time off school and being able to come home to California, so I always look forward to spending time at home. I know it seems lame, but I love being home and being able to see my friends or sit around all day watching tv if I feel so inclined!

  • Katherine says:

My favourite thing about Summer is barbeques. I absolutley adore attending them at the local beach, not knowing anyone, making loads of new, interesting friends and eating my own weight in quorn! Its so beautiful watching the sunset over the ocean, sitting on the soft sand with my boyfriend and soaking up the happy atmosphere (:

  • Shea Wheatley says:

My favorite thing about summer… Okay, so I’m a complete geek, but I love being home from college and playing Dungeons and Dragons with my guy friends. I’m the only girl that plays, and the five us are so ridiculously close, it’s so much fun. Heck, I like being the only girl. It’s especially fun when I go to play after a day at work where I’m all dressed up in some pretty dress and we’re all sitting around a table fighting monsters. I also try to bake something new and different for each session we have, so we can keep ourselves fed. It’s really a lot of fun.

    Melinda Reply:

I second the whole D&D thing and being the only girl. When I do wear dresses, my friends look at me as if I had changed my sex. I’ve been one of the guys for so long, that they are used to me being me, not me in a skirt. Except for me, Summer is when I get to play Settlers of Catan with my friends! ^_^

  • Eggy Weggs says:

I love finally getting enough Vitamin D! Midwestern winters can be so long and painful; the summers are so hot, they boil the toxins out of you!

  • Mary says:

My favorite thing about summer? The lovely gifts of freckles given to me by Mr. Sun! :)

    With love,
    Mary (a fellow redhead! :))

  • Natasha says:

My favourite thing about summer is the wide variety of concerts and music festivals.
I love going to festivals and seeing all different sorts of people listening to the same music. I get to find an outfit, go out with friends, meet new friends, and be in the sun all day! Also, discovering bands and meeting some great musicians is amazing.

  • Kitten says:

My favourite thing about summer is that it helps clear up my exzema. Heat and humidity seem to do wonders for it, it clears up, and for a short while I don’t worry about my skin or my scalp and the pain and constant itching go away, and its a wonderful thing, even if it is just for a while :)

  • Lizz says:

My favourite thing about summer is that I can wear dresses without tights and pick flowers to wear in my hair or around my wrist. (:

  • Gabrielle says:

My favorite thing about summer is the clothes. I love wearing tank tops and skirts and shorts (although I will wear them year round in New England – including when it is snowing out). I feel like we are open to many more clothing options in the summer than other months when we have to cover up so much of our skin.

My other favorite thing is going blueberry picking!

  • jenny says:

My favorite thing about summer is being able to spend more time with my kids, there’s nothing better!

  • Jonel says:

My favorite thing about summer (apart from being out of school) is being able to spend lots of time outside in the fresh air with loved ones. Swimming is so much fun, and awesomely refreshing from all of the heat!

  • Eurydizy says:

I love the long days of summer. So much more daylight to spend time outside and having fun. Plus the nights are warmer so it’s perfect timing for campfires and s’mores :)

  • Megan says:

I think my favorite thing about summer is the smells. I love the smell of all the flowers, I love the smell after a warm summer rain. I love the smell of barbecue. I love the smell of blackberries after a long day of berry picking.

  • Hilde says:

My favourite thing with summer is the weather! I love the sun and warm weather. And I also love time off from school. ;) Oh, and summer-y foods. Barbecued food is the BEST.

  • Lana Gabonna says:

  • Melissa says:

My favorite thing for summer is having time off from schoolwork! I’m in college and am always crazy busy, so the summer is so great to just forget about organic chemistry labs and just sleep!!

  • LizzyRae says:

My favorite thing about summer is sitting out in a baby pool in my front yard sipping on some strawberry lemonade reading a book… sometimes even a romance novel. I love going to the beach, wearing super cute dresses, and cooking out for my friends and family.

I’m having a great summer so far!

  • lux says:

My favorite thing about summer is the coming autumn. ^^

Though I also love the late twilights and the abundant growth of the year.

  • Megan says:

My favorite thing about summer is that I can travel all over the place. I have school during cooler months, so traveling then is tough. But during the summer I can go anywhere — another city, state, or country. I love the freedom I have & seeing everything I’ve wanted to. It’s wonderful & I love it.

  • Nel says:

My favourite thing about summer is the scent of it. I love when our flower garden is in bloom and on hot afternoons you can smell the perfumes they emit. Nothing bottled smells nearly as good. At nighttime, there’s the scent of cotton candy and funnel cake at the local carnivals (and there are lots of them!), the smell of gunpowder from fireworks, the heavy scent of rain and electricity from storms. Asphalt and freshly-cut grass as you walk down the street. There is no season nearly as diverse in scent as summer, and I love it.

  • Reba says:

Renfaires! And other carnivals and such. I love midway games and rides and cotton candy.

  • Maggie says:

My favorite thing about summer is having the free time to do whatever I want to do! I can lounge by the pool, hang out with my friends, travel to exciting places, and just relax! I love summer :)

  • Mary says:

The best part of summer is the 8pm sunsets! I love having more of the day to enjoy the fresh summer air. Not to mention, the gorgeous yellows of the sunset make for the most stunning pictures. Everything is prettier in the late summer sunlight.

  • Beautiful!!! I love many things about summer, but I think my favorite is blooming EVERYWHERE! Here in Portland, OR, we get rain most of the year, and it’s as though the plants and trees all wait for the sun to start peeking out, and BAM! Flowers, buds, fruits, leaves…gorgeous eye candy everywhere you look.

It’s my favorite season to photograph for this very reason <3

  • Dana says:

My favorite part of the summer is the 4th of July. Not because of the fireworks displays or because it’s the birthday of my country, but because it is the birthday of my grandfather. He is so special to me and seeing him so happy on the 4th of July at his birthday party is just so heartwarming to me. This year he will turn 73, the oldest any male member of his family has ever lived and it appears he will be around for many more.

  • Katie says:

I live on Cape Cod, Massachusetts which is a major spot for tourists. Most people here complain about the traffic and crowds but I personally don’t mind everything- there’s just a great atmosphere everywhere you go. I love to sit on the beaches and people watch and listen to the too-loud family from Texas talk about their kids or something equally as entertaining. Everything is green and beautiful too!

  • Lizard! says:

What’s not to love about the summer?
The heat! The fairs! The free time!
Besides that, my birthday is in July.
The shortest months of the year for anyone in school (including myself), pass even quicker with the prospect of getting ready for the new year.
Trying to cram as much experience into this time as possible, I’m especially looking forward to going to Anime Iowa- a huge anime convention- with one of my best friends, Emily.
Suffice to say, summer is my favorite season.

    Angela Reply:

AI is amazing! Sadly I won’t be going this summer. My birthday is actually the Saturday of con this year too.

It’s really sweet to see another Iowan con-goer follows Doe’s blog. :)

  • Kat says:

Well, I live in Arizona, so the summer doesn’t have much to recommend it. It’s hot hot hot hot hot here, all the time. On the other hand, swimming season starts in April and goes through September, so there’s plenty of time by the pool! I love having piña coladas on the porch during the evenings, and I love going for a dip in the pool — it’s almost enough to take my mind off the heat.

  • Lena says:

My favorite thing about summer is laying in a perfect combination of sun and shade, drinking cayenne lemonade, and perfecting my daisy chain skills. Maybe I could do that in another season, but to me it feels like crystallized summer.

  • Sasa says:

My favorite thing about summer is making dinner at home with friends, sitting in the terrace at 8 o’clock, sun still out, with drinks, cold food and nice background music. With the wind not letting us know how hot it can get.

  • Jessica says:

My favorite thing about summer is the laid back atmosphere that you can create for yourself. Relaxing by the pool with Jimmy Buffett blasting in the background, splash fights, and making the dogs hop in the pool so you can swim with them…it’s all part of the magic of summer!

  • Anaïs says:

I like how summer scents. Every season has its own scent, and I love the one summer has the best. The heavy scent of hot pavements in the heat, pavements after a shower, summerfood like fries and beer, the sweet and refreshing smell of a walk in the park or a little waterfall when hiking in the mountains, industrial scents when walking in the city, grass (even though I’m allergic to it), fruit salad and juice (cherries!) and their colours and how they are arranged in their boxes in stores, … I could go on forever!

    Anaïs Reply:

And the chlorine of the swimming pool!

  • Francine says:

    What a beautiful flower comb!!

My favourite thing about summer ist time off from school of course! To relax & spend time with friends.

    <3

  • Hayley says:

My favourite thing about summer are the multitude of festivals! Especially ecclectic music festivals… & the sun! Oh, the sun. It’s the dead of winter here in country Western Australia… Burning tree after tree and the millions of layers are killing my sunny soul. :(

  • Ellen says:

I love peaches in the summer! Where I live, we can’t get decent fruit in the winter… but in the summer, we get magnificent peaches from just East of the mountains. I love the smell (it’s my favorite summer smell, too!), the soft fuzz, the beautiful marbling of pink and yellow skin, and most of all, the taste! Peaches are superb sliced and eaten with fresh cream :).

  • Jessie says:

Wow, that comb is absolutely beautiful! My favorite thing about summer is… everything! In my opinion, summer is the absolute best time of year. I love the warm weather, the long days, going swimming, the clothes, how mother nature is just bursting full of flowery goodness, just everything about summer is wonderful. I live in the midwest and it gets super, super cold in the winter here so whenever summer finally comes around everyone is so much happier and it just seems like the whole world is smiling. I love that feeling the most I think. :)

  • Emilysu says:

My favorite part about summer are how blue the sky gets, when all of the flowers are out, and everything looks like a green explosion. I love hiking through forests and climbing rocks and catching frogs with my bare hands in streams. I love hanging out on the beach with my family and taking naps with my cousins dog in front of the bonfire. When I’m lucky I get to visit my grandma and grandpa in sweden and I love picking wildflowers for them. I love taking a stroll at 8 o’clock and it’s still light out! And I love relaxing at one of NYC’s cute cafes and reading fantasy novels. There are so many things I love about summer, and these are some of them!

  • Ariel Grimm says:

    Summer….it turns me upside down.
    Oh oh summer, it’s like a Merry~Go~Round…
I stay inside my room with the A/C on
lounging about on my well-made bed
eating treats and reading books all day
When the sun finally starts to go down I
set off on an adventure outside.
Me and my cats climb the trees and Jesse
and I ride our horse bicycles all over town
blasting music from my ipod at sunset meeting
up with old friends and exploring!

  • A. says:

My favourite thing about summer.. this is a real hard one, I’ve got so many things I love about summer. I love not having to go to school and the weather, obviously, but I also love the long, lovely summernights, going to festivals, all my ‘summer music’, feeling love in the air, waking up and realizing that I can do whatever I want, the trees in my garden being full of cherries, eating strawberries, doing stuff with friends like traveling, camping, just hanging around outside, ……. I could go on and on forever.

  • Arika says:

My favorite thing about summer is the warm nights when I can sit outside without a coat on! (I live in Oregon, tis cold here). I also adore the way pavement smells when it’s been hot for awhile and then in rains. So calming.

  • Jaco says:

I love the heat :] It lets you be outdoors or indoors at your whimsy! All the summer activities are really wonderful :]

    Love and Turtledoves,
    Jaco

My favourite this about summer is amusements parks. I’ve loved them since I was little and it just doesn’t feel like summer without visiting one. So much fun! (:

  • Maricela says:

My favorite thing about summer is showing my daughters all the new animals, plants, etc that they have never seen before. We are able to spend more time together outside, swimming, fishing, hiking, and going to park. I love watching them play and explore the world around them.

  • Wendy says:

My favourite thing is the evening of the lengthened days. For us (Central/eastern Canada), you can see the sun setting – a red globe that slowly sinks into the ground, reflecting an array of warm and brilliant colours against the clouds and the sky. Lighting it up, as if they were on fire. It’s something stunning that cannot be seen during the winter time.
