FAQ

  • I am coming to New York. What places do you recommend?

My favorite cafes are Yaffa (a must-see) and Sidewalk Cafe. I also love this Asian fusion place called Saint’s Alp on 2nd Ave and 11th St — the best bubble tea around! I recommend Taro flavor. :) Ray’s Pizza is considered some of the best in NY but I also like La Familia.

For shopping, check out Reminiscence on 23rd Street, it’s a vintage/novelty store. If you ever make it to Williamsburg, Brooklyn — Buffalo Exchange and Beacon’s Closet. You can find Lime Crime at SpaceNK (www.spacenk.com, several locations throughout Manhattan).

If you’re looking for a fun/inexpensive hotel, you’ll love Chelsea and Gershwin hotels.

  • What hair dye do you use?

My natural hair color is light red. In the past, I’ve used Garnier Bright Auburn Blonde to achieve a more intense copper color. Currently, I bleach my hair and dye it with various blue dyes.

  • How do you make your dye job last?
  • Leave the dye in for 30-40 minutes, instead of the recommended 20.
  • Wash out with just water (no shampoo). Sleep on a dark-colored towel that night.
  • Don’t wash hair for the next 2 days, let the color sip in.
  • Wash your hair as seldom as possible. Use dry shampoo on between washings.
  • Use shampoos & conditioners for colored hair. Avoid washing hair with really hot water or clarifying shampoos, those will strip your hair of color.
  • Who takes your photos?

My husband Mark is a photographer, he goes by Grenouille. A lot of the photos you see on my blog are my collaborations with him; you can check out more of his work here. I also work with other great photographers from ModelMayhem.com, who are usually credited at the top of the post.

  • What kind of a camera do you use?

Canon Digital Rebel.

  • Will you review my product on your blog?

Sure, I will consider it. I have a policy of only recommending things to my readers that I truly like and would use myself. Check out my Partnership page for more info.

  • I have a blog. Do you mind if I re-publish your post?

I’m very flattered. :) Feel free to use an excerpt and link to the rest!
